JERK WHO TOOK THE SHELTER CORGI PART II
Apr. 29th, 2009 02:06 pmI'm sure all of you remember the whole story with the jerk and his two bratty kids who snuck in at the last minute and stole the corgi I was going to adopt (and had been waiting over two hours for), right?
FOR BITING THE KIDS.
WHO CALLED THIS? WHO KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN? OHHH YEAH, I DID! I just had a bad feeling about it, and even after getting Hooch (who is about as perfect as a dog for our family as possible, and I am SO HAPPY we got him) my mind kept wandering to that corgi, wondering about her and still feeling upset that she went of to an unknown fate with that asshole.
Well, my mom's not too sure about taking in a third dog, but I think that things happen for a reason and at the very least I want to bust her out of that shelter and get her somewhere safe. So, either on Friday morning (as the message they left me said) or Sunday morning (as the lady at the shelter who didn't know I have Finders First priority on this dog said), I am going to go get her. We'll decide whether we just foster her and find her a home later, keep her, or keep her at my dad's house later. I just want that poor corgi out of that cage that she's had to be in twice in the last few weeks. I want her away from all the families who will go "OOOH, SHE'S SO CUTE MOMMY, WE SHOULD TAKE HER!" with no regard of the safety of that decision.
This is going to be interesting. I honestly, truly feel like this all happened for a reason, though. Because they took her, we got Hooch (AKA the perfect dog for us and sweetest little guy ever) and now we can also offer her a safe, fitting home with no small children whether it's with us or someone else. I'm just sorry the poor girl had to get caught up in this whole mess of probably being in a home, being a stray, ending up at the shelter, going to a home and trying to fit there, and getting returned to the shelter. That's really rough on a dog. :(
You guys called it, too. Several of you said karma was going to bite him in the butt, and it certainly did.
AHHH I can't believe this is happening! I really hope this works out in her best interest this time... They'd better honor that Finders First priority they gave me. D< Otherwise I'll be really, really upset with the shelter.
EDIT: They officially have her on hold for me and I'm picking her up Friday!

I hope so they should have given you the dog in the first place because you were there first
not to mention you have all this experience with animals so they should have realized it would have gone to a better home w/ you then that other family. But I am glad not getting the 1st Corgi right away led you to Hooch and now who knows maybe you will get both, or at least get them both in good homes.no subject
Date: 2009-04-30 12:29 am (UTC)They really should have, but now I'm glad they didn't because I wouldn't have gotten Hooch! But for her sake, it was really unfair and sad. :( I'm definitely going to take her in at least for now, though, and we'll see if she works out in our home or not. If three dogs is too much for us or she just isn't doing well in our household (or my mom and dad both refuse to let me keep her), we'll find her a great, stable home where she can be happy.

Date: 2009-04-30 12:32 am (UTC)It was predictable that she would nip or at least bite the children, and I even told them that when the shelter was deciding who would take the dog. Rescued herding dogs--especially ones coming out of a shelter--frequently nip or bite because they're herding dogs and they're bred to nip at cattle or sheep. It's just a nervous response, and children don't know how to properly deal with these behaviors and tend to bother the dogs. It really isn't surprising at all.

Date: 2009-04-29 09:47 pm (UTC)Wow, that's amazing. That's what you get for not playing fair, jackass. I still can't believe something like that happened, but it DID bring you Hooch, so it probably did happen for a reason.
So, yeah, seems like fate's at work... It was cruel at first, but things are working out for the total best? :3 I really hope you get her this time! Even just to foster her. And if you do foster her, I hope she finds the best home possible. ♥ I wish I could take her. ;A;
..And if you keep her, OMG TWO CORGIS FFF♥
EDIT: Forgot to say, I really admire you! You're so dedicated and caring to animals. There should really be more people like you in the world. It just makes me happy that you're knowledgeable and will make sure she gets put in a fitting home, if you don't keep her. ♥♥♥

Date: 2009-04-30 12:39 am (UTC)Yeah, seriously. And I'm glad it happened now because Hooch is SUCH a good boy and he's really happy with us (and we're extremely happy with him!). But I'm glad that now I have the chance to work with her and make sure she can be in a stable household, whether it's ours or another household. She just deserves a happy life and I'm glad that I'll be able to control what sort of situation she'll live out her life in. She doesn't deserve to be pushed from place to place and not given a chance to settle down and feel safe and secure.
Thank you! That's really sweet of you to say. ♥ I'm kind of a crazy person and I know it (...I'm really weird about a lot of people, orz, because I resent the human species) but animals are extremely important to me and I always want to help them whenever I can.

Date: 2009-04-30 12:41 am (UTC)Haha, yes! I'm not sure if we'll keep her or anything yet, but at the very least we can make sure she'll go to a stable, happy home like she deserves.

Date: 2009-04-29 10:04 pm (UTC)AND I'M GLAD THAT LOSER FAMILY GOT WHAT WAS COMING TO THEM. I just wish the poor corgi wasn't hurt the most by it all. =(
And if you can adopt this corgi too, SUPER FREAKING AWESOME to that! I wish you the best with that!

Date: 2009-04-30 12:44 am (UTC)THEY DEFINITELY DID. And it is sad that she had to get caught up in all of this because the poor girl doesn't deserve it, biting or not. But at least with me taking her I know she'll end up in a good, stable, happy household regardless of whether it's mine or someone else's.
Of course I'm leaning towards wanting to keep her, but I'm staying open-minded. I just want the best for her, and if that means finding her a home that's what I'll do. We'll see what happens and go from there!

Date: 2009-04-30 12:51 am (UTC)I talked to the animal control officer and he's holding her for me, and I pick her up on Friday (a day before she goes up for adoption to the general public), so I'm pretty sure that's squared away! Now it's just a matter of what we do with her in the long run, but I feel good because now at least I'll be in control of what sort of situation she goes to if we do decide to find her a home. We just have to wait and see what happens as far as her ultimate destination goes.

Date: 2009-04-30 12:55 am (UTC)Corgis are sweet, but they're herding dogs and herding dogs have a tendency to bite or nip just because that's what they're bred to do for cattle and sheep. It's a nervous response sometimes with children. That's partly why I advised them not to take her, because I know rescue herding dogs and kids aren't the best mix usually, especially with how much kids can bother at dogs. :/ If people want a good family dog, get a lab, not a herding dog! You'd think people would do their research, but I guess not.

Date: 2009-05-01 07:23 am (UTC)That's true... a normal person would see a difference between playful nip or weak bite from stress and serious bite, but these are kids and their overreacting father :/ good thing she did it though. They were probably stressing her anyway.

Date: 2009-04-30 12:10 am (UTC)well i hope you get to take her home, and even if you can't keep her, i hope you can find her a great home, coz that really sucks.

Date: 2009-04-30 12:58 am (UTC)Yeah, I feel better that I'm almost certainly getting her now (talked to the animal control officer, I pick her up on Friday which is before she goes up for adoption) and so I can control where she goes. Whether she ultimately ends up with us or another household, I'll know that she'll be in a great home this way and I don't have to worry about her fate.

Some people don't deserve animals.
Just like some people shouldn't have babies.
*lol bigot*
Well, dunno how it will all turn out, but I'm glad you get a chance with her.

Date: 2009-05-01 01:55 am (UTC)I agree completely that some people shouldn't have children, but you know that. :D
I'd actually prefer that no one have children, but almost any restriction on reproduction is a-okay by me!Thank you! I don't know what's going to happen in the long run either, but at least this way she'll have a great home--whether with us or someone else we personally approve to adopt her. :) No more having to bounce from place-to-place or sit in a cage with a bunch of hysterical barking dogs.

Date: 2009-04-30 03:01 am (UTC)And didn't I tell you everything happens for a reason? :3 I knew that you'd find a good dog for your family.
I want to still throw a brick through that guy's window, though. I hope the little bastards bled like shit. >D
...too much vengeance! ^^;

Date: 2009-05-01 02:13 am (UTC)I knew that everything would work out in the end because it always does, but that's always hard to accept in the face of great disappointment... Things worked out even more amazingly than I imagined, though--I got the perfect dog for us AND I get to make sure this corgi also gets a wonderful home (either with us or someone we approve to adopt her)!
Yeeeah I'll admit I'm still stewing a bit with anger over this whole thing. It worked out great for me, but there was just so much injustice in the whole shelter corgi thing that I can't help but be angry at that guy. I know it's not good to have grudges, but I can't help but resent him a little bit.

Date: 2009-05-01 01:40 am (UTC)Well I'm happy for you! Whether you decides to keep her or not, she'd be in good hands from now on.
