Sep. 15th, 2009 12:29 pmLOL, Pearl the guinea fowl and Starly the Mille Fleur d'Uccle (in other words, a chicken) are currently warring over who gets to sit on a large clutch of eggs in the corner of the hen house. Except, within the last two or three days, it seems like it may have transformed from a war to a temporary truce, as they'll sit right next to each other on the eggs and make their respective mama noises as if to persuade the unborn chicks/keets that they are the real mother. It's pretty hilarious. I hope they manage to actually hatch some babies!
Yesterday, I attended the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release End of Season Party. This was fun, and after the party was over, I went out to dinner with several of the seasoned veterans of the group. Naturally, we had to have disgusting conversations during dinner without even realizing particularly that most people would find them disgusting. Ways to chop up mice for feeding raptors, the breeding and care of mealworms, wound management, the particulars of bird stool, particularly strange and gross diseases and injuries we've seen, and so on. X3 Gotta love rehabber conversations. I'm pretty sure I'm going to try to go to the CCWR (California Counsel for Wildlife Rehabilitators) Symposium in the end of November at Pismo Beach, as I can room and ride with fellow rehabbers in my group and it seems like a great learning opportunity. Of course, it interferes with towards the end of NaNoWriMo, but I can always either finish my novel early, get way ahead before the conference, or write while I'm there. No big deal. :D
Now that Heart Gold and Soul Silver are out in Japan, I'm getting so excited about them. Why must it be so long until they come out here? ;___; I was dreaming about playing them last night and it was so awesome. Of course, the release of them has caused me to go "KJAHDKAJHDKJAHD" about money because they keep releasing Umbreon and Chikorita merchandise that I want, and I absolutely must get the legendary dog Pokédolls, too. Need to get a job or something, ughhh.
I keep going back and forth on my Umbreon collecting. Not about collecting Umby in the first place, but just how hardcore I want to get about it. Honestly, I would love to be the most dedicated Umbreon collector on the community, but I don't have the money to be so (especially with the competition I'm up against--one person in particular), and it's difficult getting all the items, between the rare stuff and all the new releases (including expensive things like shirts). I really want to be an amazing Umbreon collector, but I also don't know how to do this with how things are financially. So I sometimes wonder, should I continue going for everything, or should I just try for certain things? I'm really leaning towards the former, as I just love Umbreon merch and I do want all of it, but at the same time it can be really stressful on me because I don't really have the means. *Sigh* I'm going to have to try to get a job, and then see if I'm able to collect better. But it's scary, because I'm always afraid that the Umbreon items will become rare/impossible to find before I can afford to get them. Anyway, I'm taking this a bit seriously, but you get the idea. I hate to be so materialistic about something, but at the same time...collecting is so fun! ;;
Anyway, off to eat before going to class~

Date: 2009-09-16 02:45 am (UTC)Perhaps you should start collecting. >3 For the frustration it can cause at times and the death of all spending money, it's really really fun and the community is awesome! So many nice people, it's amazing. Just try to pick something unpopular, OR go into it collecting lightly (as in, not trying to get everything of a certain Pokémon). It is definitely a crazy hobby, but it's so wonderful. ♥
LOL, I spent ~$300 at the Pokémon Center when I was there, and this was a budget trip. As in, that was most of my spending money. I'm planning on going back to Japan sometime next year (March-April maybe?) and I plan on saving a bunch of money to spend on Pokémon merchandise, uhuhu. >D
I KNOW. But Pokémon is seriously the best fandom ever, so if you must be obsessed with one, it's a good one! So expansive and amazing and you can kind of do whatever you want with it because there are so many different canon sources and things that are hinted at.

Date: 2009-09-16 04:13 am (UTC)Hahaha, Nooooooo, don't encourage me! XD;; Unfortunately/Fortunately my favorites are mostly pretty unpopular! I've already started checking out toy stores when I'm around them for Pokémon toys. X_X
YOU SHOULD TOTALLY GO IN MARCH/APRIL!!! Nur and I are going around then for Comiket Special~ We could totally meet up or something. (AND SPEND TOO MUCH AT THE POKÉMON CENTER)
Oh oh oh, I'm going to try to get a group of Pokémon Special/Adventures trainers together for AX. Do you want to join? =D

Date: 2009-09-16 04:25 am (UTC)OH, I MUST, FOR I AM EVIL LIKE THAT. >D That's good you have unpopular favorites--that means you should be fine as far as collecting goes! What are some of your favorites? I have a ton of leftover stuff from sales, I could set some aside for you (for free, of course) and bring it with me to YaoiCon!
YES, let me know when you're going and we should definitely try our best to plan to go right around the same time or at least overlap in dates! 8D It would be soooo much fun to hang out with you in Japan!
Ooo, I'll think about that! I'm trying not to do much in the way of cosplaying this year because I want to save up for Japan/spend my time on my AMV, as well as making improvements on existing costumes, but once I get more caught up in Adventures if someone sticks out I'll let you know! Regardless, I'll have my Umbreon costume with me.
