Transportation issues

Aughhh, this is annoying. archaneah is not going to AX, so now I'm trying to figure out how to get down there (my car is not reliable enough to make it all the way down there, I don't think), but every option I've come across so far is either super expensive or extremely inconvenient. And I need to leave tomorrow. :/

Is anyone on the ol' f-list heading down to AX tomorrow? I don't mind driving to the bay area or Sacramento or whatever to meet up and drive from there, I'd just like to be in LA by 8 PM if possible so I can get my badge before the insanity of Thursday morning happens. I can chip in for gas and help drive (if you have an automatic)! I do need some space for luggage, but my two costumes are squishy/I'm doing my best to pack light for Japan, and I'm fine with having myself pressed against a window with stuff in my lap, hahaha.

I guess if all else fails I'll just take my chances and drive myself, but... I'd really rather not in case my car dies or has issues or whatever.

I doubt anyone on here can help, but I just thought I'd try!

OR if anyone has any advice for getting cheaply from Sacramento area or whatever to LA, it would be much-appreciated. I already checked car rentals, carpooling, Amtrak, Greyhound, and probably a few other things.

It's funny that so far planning for the Japan trip has gone very well/smoothly, but now getting across the state is causing me problems.

I wasn't able to find a ride down at all until today. Now I have 2 possible rides and 1 semi-confirmed ride... but the semi-confirmed ride is leaving from Sacramento. The reason I'm not sure it'll work out is a) i would need to go up to Sacramento from Palo Alto tomorrow to make that ride, and b) I was told to "pack light". LOL like that's possible, with all my AA crap???

In any case, if you havne't found a ride yet would you like me to let you know the details about this ride in case I can't take it? You'd just have to drive down to Sacto which would be much shorter.

sorry, just in case that wasn't clear: I might have to take the ride from Sacramento even though I live so far because I'm not 100% sure I can go with the other two rides from the Bay Area yet. I should be able to know by later tonight, at which point I can let you know!

Oh, I would love the details about that ride just in case! I actually might fly down there from San Francisco, just because I found...sort of cheap tickets ($149 round-trip) and I have to get back from LA anyway, but that might just work. Just lemme know. :D Thank you so much!

It's Virgin America, through Travelocity. But that's with me returning on the 14th, after I come back from Japan, so returning sooner might yield different results.

Yeah, I'm thinking about it and I might choose flying if I don't find a good ride soon. I'd have to fly out of San Francisco, though.

Just let me know whenever you hear back on the bay area ride! There's not a massive hurry, especially because I'm not exactly packing that light between AX and Japan and cosplay. :P

My friend would be leaving from Sacramento on Wednesday. Arrival should be sometime around 2 or 3 am Thursday morning.

I think you might know this person, he goes to Sac-Anime and Fanime and dresses up as a big cardboard Wiimote or DS-lite.

I can't really help, as I am not going to AX this year. I know you prolly won't check it but just wanna say have a safe trip to Japan and rock that Yoko Kanno concert, among other things!
