Jobs

After some frantic Craigslist ad postings, I do have some jobs lined up! One is in Sacramento and involves me listing items on Ebay for a woman who has a ton of collectibles she's trying to find places for, and that pays $10 an hour. It sounds like I can work seven to eight hours a day a few times a week on that, so that should help me towards my goal! Another involves typing and editing an autobiography for a man in Rough and Ready (yes, that is the name of a mini-town about five minutes away--it actually seceded from the Union and became its own country briefly, ROFL. Look it up on Google if you don't believe me!). I'm really looking forward to that one because I adore writing and editing and, yes, even tedious typing isn't bad either. $10 an hour there, too, and I can do that from home mostly so it'll be nice!

I also have a potential dogsitting job for five doggies (two cattle dogs and three mini/toy poodles) in Colfax about a half-hour to forty minutes away, and another petsitting job that involves me helping to find a home for two border collie mixes as well as watching them.

I still have to put up some posters around town for more petsitting/housesitting clients once I get a chance. I may do that Wednesday or something because tomorrow I start both the Ebay job and the autobiography job and I want to make sure to not overschedule myself. I also have wildlife rehab stuff to do, of course, and ughhh I still haven't gotten to packaging so I need to take at least one day to do that.

Three of my other plans are thus:
- Attempt to sell my Kumagorou and Akamaru costumes (fairly cheaply) because I'll most likely never wear them again anyway, and they might as well go to someone who would have fun in them! Now they're just taking up space and I have Teto, Densuke, Boota, and Umbreon to wear still. Here's a picture of Akamaru here: http://www.cosplay.com/photo/1415627/

I was thinking about $45 (or make offers) + shipping on it if anyone here is interested. XD It's still in good condition and fairly comfy! I think it cost me at least $70-80 to make not including time.

I don't have any pictures for Kumagorou, but it's a comfy fleece pink bunny costume. Enough said! It's in good shape, too, and I'd want around $35 + shipping for it. I can take pictures if anyone is interested.

- Scour the house for unwanted items and hold a garage sale one weekend.
- As much collection weeding as I can do, as well as attempting to sell any sales items that haven't sold yet.

I'm also going to ask one of my grandmothers if she'd want to chip in (very politely), and my other grandmother said she'd "look at her finances" which means she'll most likely chip in some. My dad is going to chip in as well, and my brother offered to lend me $300 of his birthday money if I need it. Awww, my family is awesome.

So, things certainly aren't going badly. :D I'm thinking in regards to the passport I am most likely going to drive down to San Francisco one of these days and get it at the passport office, but I'm doing more phone calls to confirm how to do this. It involves making an appointment and only works if you have less than two weeks until leaving the country, so I just want to be absolutely sure that this will work out.

No matter what it takes, I'm going to go. I'm going to. I'm going to make it happen. Every time I look up at the sky I think of being in a plane heading to Japan to see Yoko Kanno, and I feel so excited and happy and alive and exhilarated. I think it's good for me to make such a big, difficult decision and work hard towards my goal because it makes me feel truly alive again. I was reading an article today on the idea of the brain wanting to make "easy" decisions and take the path of least resistance, but that in order to live to the highest potential one needs to make decisions that are difficult and challenging, and I feel like that's exactly what deciding to go to this concert is. It's achieving a life dream and working extremely hard to do so, and doing something that I would normally consider outside of my abilities. I think it really could change my life--not only because I'll be seeing a person I practically worship as a god and get to see her performing with other people I adore, but also because if I can pull this off on such short notice, I think it'll help me realize my potential and live life more fully.

It is going to be difficult and stressful, though. That much is a given.

In news other than all my frenzied money-making attempts, Honey is being spayed tomorrow! I gave her and Hooch a bath after they went to the dog park today, so now they're all clean and good smelling.

Other than that... Um. There is nothing going on aside from that, I don't think. Well, I mean, aside from the usual animal chaos and whatnot.

Thank you! I think no matter how well it goes it'll still be crazy and stressful, but it's going to be SO well worth it in the end! Thank you so much for the encouragement! :D

Wee! Haha it might sound weird to say this but....you inspire me! Yes it will work out! It has to be. Working hard towards one's dreams. I really really need to work on that too. Fingers crossed for the passport!

Awww, I'm glad to hear that! I hope you use your inspiration to some awesome end. :D

Yes, I think having a goal that you're determined to reach and really excited about gives life a new depth... It's like I look at everything differently even though not a ton has changed. Find something you really want to do, and work hard to accomplish it, and things will be good! I think as a college student it's easy to get worked up over just grades and majors and classes and career choices, but there's so much more to the world than that, too, and lots of amazing things to explore.

Thanks for the encouragement! I think the passport will work out just fine--I just need to be careful to make sure I have all the information correct and all that. Passports are a hassle, ugh.

By the way, we're totally having a hot threesome date with Morita at the Hachikuro Café hanging out in Japan assuming this works out (which it will)!

Thanks! Yes, it does! I talked to the guy and he sounds really nice and happy to find someone to help, so I think it's going to be a great job. Man, I wish I could just be a paid typist and editor all the time. That's definitely the sort of thing that's up my alley. I love reading and storytelling and whatnot, so getting paid for this is win.

Thanks! And but of course--I shall take pictures of it tomorrow evening and post them here! It's a cute costume and when not wearing the nose and ribbon it would make good pajamas, haha. :D

Your happiness brings a smile to my cold, dead heart. You give me hope that there are things to look forward to in the world. Keep chasing those stars, honey!
