CORGIII <3
Apr. 8th, 2009 04:38 pmOMFG YOU GUUUUYYYSSSS
Ryan and I went down to the Yuba City shelter to look at an Australian Shepherd and a Toy Jack Russell Terrier. There was no information about either dog other than a crummy picture, but I just felt like going there for some reason. Went there, discovered both had been taken by rescue groups or adopted, BUT...
First cage when I walked in. Young female obviously purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgi. MY DREAM DOG. Very sweet, giving us kisses through the bars and wanting to be petted. Shivering because she was scared in the kennel. Downright gorgeous adorable wonderful dog. She can't be adopted to anyone or even taken out of the kennel until Friday because they have to hold the dogs for five days when they get them in to make sure they're not sick or their owner isn't coming back for them.
Now, I'm not going to be surprised if someone turns up and claims her today or tomorrow. She's definitely purebred and looked well-cared for, and basically this whole situation seems too good to be true so I'm not getting my hopes up. The adoption fee at this shelter is $10. $10. But she has been there for three and a half days already, so I can't help but hope that no one is coming for her, and that no one else is crazy enough to leave early and come when they open to adopt her as the shelter is first come-first serve.
Tomorrow before the shelter closes I'm calling to see if she's still there, and ask if we can actually pick her up on Friday (one of the people said something about Monday, IDK). If we can, I'm leaving at 6 AM on Friday (or Monday if that's when we can) and going to get her.
Like I said, I'm not getting my hopes up too high because it really does seem too good to be true and it'll surprise me if there isn't someone out there looking for her, but...
Think good thoughts for me! :D If this works out I think I'm going to cry with joy.

Date: 2009-04-09 01:37 am (UTC)This sounds like it's fate! Good fate or bad fate, it could go either way.. But I hope it turns out good! I really hope that you get her! She sounds so sweet and adorable, and dfghjgfd CORGIIIIES! ♥ :3 That is so awesome.
It's good to try not getting your hopes up, but I do hope this works out for you. You deserve it, and sdfghjgf CORGI CORGI CORGI! *3*
Speaking of Corgis, I saw a full-bred pembroke yesterday! I think it was my first time seeing a full grown corgi irl... I've only played with puppies in pet stores. She was SO adorable.... ;A; Bwah, such an amazing breed!

Date: 2009-04-09 04:41 am (UTC)Yes, it was too bad about Tilly, but I actually don't feel too bad about it because I know she went to a wonderful home where I can ask for updates on her whenever I want. :) In a way, I think we were supposed to get her so she could end up where she was supposed to be--which was with her foster mommy!
I hope it is! Like I said I'm not going to get my hopes up too much, but I find out tomorrow either way. Keep your fingers crossed! :D I already knocked on wood today, haha.
Awww, adult pembrokes are lovely in person aren't they? They have such nice fur and they're really charismatic little dogs!

Date: 2009-04-09 04:48 am (UTC)I know, $10 is crazy! They have a $40 refundable spay/neuter deposit (which we don't know if she's spayed or not), but otherwise... $10. O___o; If I do manage to get her I may donate extra, heh.
Let's hope it works out! I know it could easily crash and burn in a second so I'm working on remembering that and not getting too excited, but hoping a bit? Can't help it. :D
