BURGLARY FAIL
Mar. 20th, 2009 11:12 pmAhahaha, whut. Tonight was...interesting. Involved a burglary that was made of epic fail.
Today I spent mostly just hanging around the house. I took Hana for an hour-long walk down at Bridgeport (so gorgeous there as always, though Hana was afraid of the river for some reason), and then I came home and watched Dogtown and Dog Whisperer for a while and took a shower. Mom and Ryan got home from being out all day and Ryan rushed in to let me know someone got into my car and stole stuff. D: They stole the faceplate of my CD player and about three large CD cases full of mostly burned (but a few imported) CDs, as well as taking the three boxes of Pokémerchandise I had in the back of my car and leaving them in the road (unopened and undamaged, thankfully) and rifling through all my stuff that was in my glove compartment.
Then I realized I couldn't find my keys, and the whole family freaked out because we figured that meant they'd be back to steal the car and break into the house. I flailed and stressed and ran around for a half-half looking for them, and then Ryan finally found them under mom's purse, so that was a relief. We reported it to the police and an officer came out to get the information. I started showing him what had been taken and he interrupted me to say "Well, I've got some news for you. We already caught the guy!"
Apparently, the little thief went down the street a few blocks and was trying to steal a motorcycle next to the highway, and they caught him pretty much red-handed, AND recovered the CD player faceplate and all of my CDs! :D I was describing the worth of the items he stole and apparently even just the theft of my stuff by itself was likely a felony. Turns out he was a twenty-three year old guy from up the street and he's in jail now. I agreed to testify if I need to, andI get to pick up my stuff on Monday once it's been photographed and whatnot I already have all of my stuff back safe and sound!
Not only did the burglar fail, I have everyone he stole back where it belongs. Taught me to be more diligent about locking my car, though, even when it is just sitting in the driveway while I'm home.
Well, quite an interesting last few hours.
Looking forward to the bird class/meeting the dogs tomorrow!
Now to ponder what I'm going to breed for my Platinum team. I want to use some Pokémon I don't normally train...
EDIT: He also stole the gas cap on my mom's truck for some unknown reason. FFF WHAT. I can't help but be terribly amused by this whole ordeal.

Date: 2009-03-21 08:19 am (UTC)I LOVE Bridgeport! We discovered it last summer on our way to Timbuktu (lol small towns are so funny) and fell in love with the river. I'm sure we will be back this summer. My favorite is the way the river has that sort of path that you can lay down in and it rushes like a water slide. The problem is that my dumb ass is too big for it and I ended up with plenty of scrapes and bruises...but it was worth it!
You are so local--we should really get together for lunch one day or something.
PS:

Date: 2009-03-21 08:28 am (UTC)Hey, that's awesome that you know about Bridgeport! I was on that bridge today, haha. I live right up the road from Bridgeport so let me know ahead of time if you'll be hanging out this summer and I'll come join you! The Yuba River in general is pretty amazing. There are some great secluded parts of it as well that are nice to go to during the summer, because Bridgeport has gotten quite busy in the last few years when word got out about it.

Date: 2009-03-21 08:34 am (UTC)I can't believe somebody was stupid enough to steal the faceplate. Normally people take those things off so the stereo won't work without it. The fact that he JUST took the faceplate is so damn funny to me.

Date: 2009-03-21 08:41 am (UTC)I know! I'm trying to understand what he was thinking taking that, but I'm drawing a blank. It's so useless! This guy was just...the lowest of the low when it comes to burglary if he can't even pull off stealing the CD player, hahaha.

Date: 2009-03-21 08:33 am (UTC)I actually got my stuff back already because the officers brought it back to us once they were done photographing--turns out he stole the gas cap on my mom's truck as well, which is equally useless and stupid.
Basically everything is the same as it was this afternoon with an extra stupid person in jail, ROFL.

Date: 2009-03-21 02:29 pm (UTC)...the GAS CAP? What was this guy thinking???

Date: 2009-03-21 02:30 pm (UTC)And... wow. Non-traumatic burglary for the win, or lose, or... something. What an idiot, too.
(And because I'm me, I read your description of what was in the car and my immediate reaction was "OH NO THE POKEMERCHANDISE" except he totally didn't even take it... ::eyeroll at self::)
Why would someone want a CD player faceplate though? o_O
In Platinum, I was thinking I want to raise a Shuppet. I mean, and other stuff too, but I never use ghosts, and they're kind of cute. And maybe I'll breed myself a Chinchou as well, for the awesomeness of electric fish.

Date: 2009-03-24 01:19 am (UTC)Yeah, haha, he was pretty fail. I don't know why anyone would steal a CD player faceplate myself... I imagine he wanted the CD player, but one would think once he realized it wasn't so easy to steal that he would leave the faceplate.
Oh, haha, that is so funny--I'm raising a Shuppet (GraySmoke, a Lonely female) and Chinchou (Splash, a Modest female) as well this time! My other members are a Riolu (Cipher, a Modest male), Turtwig (Juniper, an Adamant male), Bagon (Lir, an Adamant male), and Houndour (Hellhound, a Quiet female). What are your other team members? :D

Date: 2009-03-24 01:37 am (UTC)I also want a Phanpy, and I was considering maybe a Blissey... Or a Snorlax... or both >.> since my game-story team is one I keep with me and doesn't really require perfection (doubly so since I have to make room for all those damned HMs). At work today I was had the list of Snorlax, Donphan, Shuppet, Crobat (I can has new "fly" users, y/n?), Blissey and actually Blastoise, rather than Chinchou... argh, so hard to decide. But Chinchou will win that one I think, since I had a Blastoise on my last run through Fire Red.
I dunno, it's not very balanced. And I keep thinking--oh, but maybe a Hariyama! Or a Chingling! Or an Exeggcute! Looking through my Pearl collection did NOT help. Oh, you know, maybe an Arcanine...? (See?!)
Next generation, I want seven slots. ::froths a little::

Date: 2009-03-23 07:48 am (UTC)ME TOO! I have it right in front of me and I'm debating whether to turn it on now or not... It's almost 1 AM, so if I turn it on now I may never turn it off, but waiting until the morning seems like torture. Ahhh I don't know. ;____;
