Doodling~ And WTF computers.
Jan. 6th, 2009 11:25 pmOkay, so the directions to install Japanese typing support say this:
"Select “Switch to Classic View” on the left-hand side of the window, if it’s there. Then, select “Regional and Language Options”. Choose the “Language” tab at the top of the window, and then make sure that “Install Files for East Asian languages” is checked. Then, click the “Details” button. Click the “Add” button, and select Japanese from the list of languages. Then click OK. This should install the necessary files for using Japanese on Windows XP."
I get that, completely, and yet I click the Add button, the list has every language imaginable except Japanese. WTF? Anyone have any ideas on what to do? Google has no answers. D: In the meantime I'm using a program, but the free trial expires in a week or so. :/
Anyway, I've been doodling wolves today. I haven't been drawing as much I as want to and when I have been drawing it's been nothing but Pokémon, so I decided to draw Toboe to get back in the swing of things. :3 I did a lot of other wolf doodles, but on them I was just sketching them out extremely quickly and then erasing them so nothing else remains of my doodling.

I didn't know what to do with the background and didn't want to spend a million hours on something nice, so...boring gradient it was! XD I added the "To Rakuen!" so it didn't look so naked.
I'm still getting the hang of digital paintingand need way more practice so it's not stunning or anything (also this wasn't a big project by any stretch of the imagination), but... Toboe! ♥ This is intentionally more anime-styled than most of my realistic wolves for the sake of cuteness.
I need to stop being lazy and reply to comments. Tonight or tomorrow early afternoon, promise!

Date: 2009-01-07 10:28 am (UTC)Yeah, hopefully I'll figure it out. :/ If not, it's just an inconvenience, but it would be nice to get it working.

Date: 2009-01-07 04:41 pm (UTC)But regardless, the first thing I would do is use your Windows disc to reinstall the language pack/files--you can't have additional language support without using your disc, and if there was an error, trying again with it is probably your best bet.

Date: 2009-01-07 06:28 pm (UTC)Your Toboe is looking good! You are indeed improving quickly on digital art.
I've been meaning to ask your opinion on this. I really, really want to watch Kara no Kyoukai, which is a 7-ep OVA series. (The music is by Yuki Kajiura, and the lead seiyuu are Ken'ichi Suzumura and Maaya Sakamoto, and the plot looks awesome and profound! *squee*) However, only the first 4 eps are available fansubbed even though 6 of the 7 eps have been released in Japan. They're rather slow at subbing, which is understandable considering the weight of the language in the series (just look at the episode titles), but it could be upwards of a year before the series is completely out on fansub. So, since you're the master of pacing and such, what do you think I should do? Wait, don't wait? I want to see it, but I don't know if I should start it yet. XD

I think you should probably wait. It can be kind of difficult and irritating to watch part of a series and have no access to the rest of it, so I think (while it may be difficult) it might be better to just wait for the rest of the series to come out before you start watching. Let me know when it does--sounds like something I might be interested in!

Date: 2009-01-08 07:57 am (UTC)You should also try looking for the Japanese IME and installing that, too! I don't have an XP system at the moment and I can't remember enough to help you with the specifics, unfortunately ... Vista comes with a lot of stuff pre-loaded.

Date: 2009-01-08 08:16 am (UTC)And..that's so weird! It just misses one single language out of all the languages you could possibly install, and it turns out to be Japanese. Does it miss Korean and Chinese as well? If so then it's missing the whole Eastern Language file I suppose? I have Windows XP but to add a language, I simply click "Options" on my language bar, then "Settings", and a box called "Text Services and Input Languages" appear and I click "Add". Maybe it's different for each computer???
Late response is late.
Date: 2009-01-15 10:50 pm (UTC)I'm not sure yet because I haven't worked on it since this entry, but I think it missing the entire Eastern Language file is a distinct possibility. Thanks for the help!
