[livejournal.com profile] pkmncollectors chat was so amazing last night, hahaha. A bunch of us downloaded Keyhole TV, which allows you to watch live Japanese TV, and watched the new Pokémon episode together as it was airing and it was SO MUCH FUN. :D Much laughter and capslock and general fangirling was had, and hopefully this will become a tradition for at least as long as I'm out of school.

I just turned on Keyhole TV and TV Tokyo just to see what was on out of curiosity, and it's some random game show. The amusing thing is, though, that they're doing this Name That Melody game and so far I've gotten two out of three of the songs. :O I was so amused that I knew the songs, haha. I know a decent amount of anime music, but not just general Japanese music... (One of them was Ashita ga Aru, which I know several of you love! And if you've never heard of it, you need a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXLU4TecYEk It is amazing, and you will not regret watching it, I promise. It might just make your day, actually. XD)

I've got lots to say, but I think I'm going to keep it short tonight before I open floodgates of long rambling about nothing.

But I am curious about one thing--a lot of people have an OTP (one true pairing), but less mentioned is a one true fandom. So my question to you, f-list, is this: Do you have one fandom that you're loyal to above all others? A series you will never leave behind and never grow tired of? If so, what is your one true fandom and why are you so loyal to this series in particular?

I think it's obvious what my one true fandom is. I may make a post about why one of these days, we'll see, but in the meantime I want to hear your answers! Feel free to write long convoluted emotional responses or one-word answers or whatever--I'm just curious. :D

I've also got memes to do! I'll do those later.

I may have made a rather unhappy mistake that may make several [livejournal.com profile] pkmncollectors members sad. :( :( :( We'll see, though, it could still work out...

gosh I have several! Digimon and Pokemon, and probably Fullmetal Alchemist and Beyblade too. I could never not love those series, as hard as I try. I've been watching Pokemon, Beyblade and Digimon for.....geez.....almost 8 years now. And my devotion hasn't really wavered that much XD And FMA....I've been a fan of it for about 4 or 5 years now, and I still love it and watch it over and over again.

I've watched a LOT of anime, but those are the series that I could still say, "Hey, yeah, I wanna watch an episode!"

Hmmm, I think I meant more... If you could only choose one fandom to stay with and had to leave all the others behind, do you have a clear one you would choose? I'm just curious if everyone has a single series like that that will just stick with them no matter what happens.

I've got a ton of fandoms that I've been into for a long time and LOVE an insane amount (and have had a large impact on my life in a lot of cases), but if I was told I had to leave everything but one, for me Pokémon would be the clear choice of what to stay with, no matter how insanely much I love everything else.

*thinks* You know...I'm not much of a fandom person...I find so many people who just don't play nice in the ones I care about. =/ And I just don't get involved in a lot of them - I don't write a lot of fic or draw a lot of fan art or post to forums or comms much. So I wish I had a One True Fandom...

Fullmetal Alchemist used to be my one true fandom. The problem is...I can't stand most of the fandom itself now. D: I still love the manga and always will, but...the fandom...

And I don't know how long-lasting my obsession with Gurren Lagann is going to be yet. Um...maybe I don't have a one true fandom. .__.

I will never not love One Piece!! (The closest thing I have to an OTP is Smoker/Ace from there, though given the current plot arc we'll see if that stays. Otherwise I'm pretty much a multishipper.)

One Piece is funny and epic and awesome, and I keep thinking the author is a little bit magic because whenever he introduces a new character, I'm always a little skeptical, and by the end of the arc (explaining the character's background and integrating them into the crew) I'm always fully on board. And it has huge sweeping moments of crescendo-ing story, stupid humor, a wide variety of characters, and never takes itself too seriously. The main guy's a rubber man, after all.

What happened at pkmncollectors? :(

Card Captor Sakura.

I will never stop loving that show. I even made my boyfriend sit down and watch the whole thing. (And he enjoyed it! Mwahahaha.) It was my first anime, and I still really love the characters and the story and the art.

I think part of me still wants to grow up to be Sakura. <3

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu is up there, too. But it just doesn't have the history behind it that CCS does.

As far as games go, probably Persona 3 and Phoenix Wright.

One True fandom probably the Fullmetal Alchemist manga...but then I barely talk about it anymore except when the new chapter comes out. I still really love it though (and I will indefinitely) and it's what got me started on LJ so to speak.

Mushishi is my favorite anime but I am not really that involved in the fandom. Well it's not the type of series that you have a fandom for.

I actually don't know how to answer this :)

This reply is long and rambling.

Hmmmmm... Well, I'm really active in the fandom itself, but a series I don't think I'll ever be able to leave is Detective Conan. I was reaaaaallly into it in high school, then again a couple years ago, then I leave just because I get too busy, but as soon as I pick up a volume, I'm dragged right back into it. I love the series, but it's not really my favorite series ever, and I really don't interact with other fans very often...

Hmm.... one true fandom though... Hmmm.... Maybe Baccano! then? I'm still madly in love with the series and I made so many good friends through it. I've worn my Jacuzzi costume more times that I can count, and I still look forward to taking it to cons and finding other fans. The fandom isn't very active anymore, but I guess I'd say that it would probably be my OTF. =)

Oh dear. What a difficult question.

How about Berserk (for anime) and Earhtbound/Mother (for video games)... That's about as narrowed down as I could get it. :D

Berserk (the manga). I think it is utter perfection and really haunting at times. I'm never going to stop loving it.

ALSO I HAD NEVER HEARD OF KEYHOLE TV and it is exactly the kind of thing I have been looking for to get better Japanese listening skills, so TY for posting about it.

No problem! I'm glad it came in handy for you, and have fun with it!

Japanese commercials are hilariously bizarre. As are the game shows. :'D

Frankly I'm rather passive/inactive in fandoms in general. I rarely post in groups. But that got me thinking....I actually do not believe in a one true fandom. I believe in always having a backup fandom, just in case your current one "true" fandom goes bogus, LOL. Especially for on-going series, it's really hard for me to say if I'm gonna end up disliking them one day. As for series I'll always love, there are Hachikuro, FLCL, Haruhi, Mononoke, and Gankutsuou and whatnot.....but I have to say the series I'll never leave behind is EVA, and it's not even the best series I have on my list. Partly because it's a love-it-or-hate-it series, so there are always times I have to "defend" it from all the haters. It's the first anime (for me) that is actually depressing to watch and take its subject matter seriously, and since then I have taken anime more seriously and look for more "serious" anime. LOL I sound like an elitist....not intending to be that way. I suppose it serves as a catalyst in changing my taste.

And I'm sure your one true fandome is of course Pokemon....right?

I guess for me it would be Monster, although my participation in the fandom has mostly been art work. :P And by art work, I mean--
Anyway, yeah.

But if we were able to separate things out into anime and video games, then I'd have to say Monster for anime and Pokemon for video games, because I could do with just Pokemon to play. :P

Pushing Daisies. There is no part of it that is not perfect. So of course, it's just been cancelled. I'll miss it forever, and remember it as the pinnacle of television that can never be matched.[/maudlin]

I don't know...I usually get irritated with something about fandoms after a while, so I leave them to enjoy the series in peace. XD

On a completely different note...did you hear that Maddie Blaustein passed away? ;_;
