Also, it would be nice if my NaNoWriMo characters would cut me some slack and reveal themselves. The female main character has a name, age, and the vaguest outlines of a personality, but no appearance or...you know, anything in-depth at all. Male main character is even worse off, with only an age and a name I'm not sure I'm happy with, and no personality or appearance.

I found an absolutely beautiful little notebook under my bed, though, so I think I'm going to carry that around until NaNo starts and force myself to write notes and doodle in it to get myself a little more prepared. My plot is pretty good to go, but the characters are concerning me. :/

Hmmm, I need to upload a NaNo icon soon as well.

I hope it does! If not, I suppose I'll just have to write and write and write and hope some semblance of personality emerges from the arrangements of words. I'm sure it'll come to me at some point, but it would be nice if it was sooner rather than later so I can actually begin to care about them. XD

Oh dear, I sort of wish we could switch, I have my characters mostly settled, at least the personalities (one of 'em a made up race that I'm still settling the details about) but the plot is really quite bare-bones.

Hahaha, together we would make an amazing team! Though I've found that good characters can carry a story better than a story can carry uninteresting characters. Still, I'm confident that they will emerge at some point--it would just be nice if it was before I start stringing the words together on November 1st.

Best of luck with your plot! I think if you figure out a way for it to begin and some opening scenes, something might pop up from there.

I'm used to writing fanfic, which is why I think it was easier to get into character creation and motives and personalities (and relationships) than into the plot. But yeah, I am kinda hoping it'll get some real momentum when I start!
