Daniell and I watched Wolf's Rain over the last two days, and...gah, I think I had forgotten a little bit just how much I love that series and just how beautiful it is. ;___; But that was my purpose in not watching it for a few years after I did so many consecutive rewatches, so mission accomplished.

Seriously, though, so amazing. There's good reason for it to be one of my absolute favorite anime series of all time. (And by "one of" I mean one of three--Pokémon, Wolf's Rain, and Cowboy Bebop are my three favorite series ever, though Pokémon's placement there is obviously more of a nostalgic factor than a quality one.) ♥ I've seen quite a few people who were dissatisfied by it or just plain didn't like it, and I recognize objectively that it has its flaws, but at the same time the series is just about perfect to me. It's one of those few series where I feel like it was made for me, in a sense--everything from the themes of the story to the background music to the way the wolves were animated to the character designs to...just about everything else just feels so right for me personally, and it strongly resonates with me every time I watch it.

One of these days I'm going to get in there and rip all the music that never made it to soundtracks, because some of those non-soundtrack songs are heartbreakingly gorgeous. I might even try to use a music editing program (specifically the karaoke creator things) to filter out at least some of the dialogue. I consider it a tragedy that so many of those songs aren't on soundtracks and most likely never will be. I actually made a music guide a few years back in which I spent about twenty hours compiling a list of every single song used in the series that didn't get a soundtrack. Including noticeable/significant variations on existing songs, it was something like sixty songs, though I have to go back and look at what the exact number was. D: And I swear at least a good fifteen or twenty of these were some of most amazing songs in the series, and this is coming from someone who worships and adores the existing soundtracks to no end.

Anyway, enough of my gushing. But, haha, it has to be said every now and then, you know?

I have a copy of what's called the "unofficial OST" of Wolf's Rain, a bunch of ripped songs from the anime. Would you like it? I can upload it for you.

Oooh, that would save me a lot of trouble if you could! I figured someone had probably ripped it, but I thought I might want to rip it myself just for thoroughness. I can always go through and rip anything that was missed myself, though. :D

Okay, here you go. Link is here.

It's a mix of two different unofficial OSTs, but there are slight differences in tracklisting, sound quality, and start/stop points for each. At least you get some variety. :D

I totally know what you mean about wolf's rain, I did like two consecutive watches last winter, and then I was like, k I'm gonna wait till next Christmas or something to watch it again and now that the time is drawing near I'm getting so excited kajwehakjwea I can't wait to watch it again. It really is so.. beautiful ;_; It resonates with me too, whenever I watch it I feel like a lot of feeling was put into it, and that's something that's a big thing for me, if something feels dry and you can tell the people who made it didn't even give a crap about it, I just can't get interested. Wolf's Rain just touches my heart though.. bawwww

AND YES FFFF I always get so sad that some of the most beautiful tracks weren't actually released on the OST albums... y u do that guys... :(

I'm so glad you feel the same! It's just...so gorgeous and emotional and BAWWWWW. I was nearly tearing up this time through it, and afterwards I felt in awe of it even though I've seen it sixteen times now. [/not...entirely sane] I think you're right when you say a lot of feeling was put into it--that's the way I feel, too. Sometimes even with sad series it doesn't feel like there's enough heart in them, and with Wolf's Rain it has more heart than almost anything I've seen. I don't know, there's just something about it.

I would say Yoko Kanno is evil, but seeing as she is god of all things, that is not possible. XD

I feel rather awful that I've never seen the full series for Wolf's Rain except for sporadic episodes. I never managed to download the whole series, and watching it via youtube/the like just wouldn't feel right... >>

You really, really should someday. Go out and buy or rent the DVDs! Or find a torrent with high quality episodes, because the series wouldn't be the same without its beautiful visuals.

It's an incredible series. It's had more impact on me than just about any other anime, and I've seen a lot of anime.

Unfortunately I can't use bittorrent. Northwestern is STALKING ME.

I'll have to try getting it via the library back home over winter break... ^^;

Darn colleges and their hatred of Bittorrent!

Good plan, good plan. :)

I feel the same about Wolf's Rain. I don't know what it is about that series, but it just gets to me. I just watch it and feel like it was made for me, on a level that no other anime/manga feels the same.

I completely agree. There's something poetic about it, and...I don't know. It just sticks with you emotionally. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way, as it really has had a profound effect on me that no other series can quite match.

omg i feel the exact same way about the music that didn't make it onto the soundtrack D:

and i definitely feel like wolf's rain was -made- for me. i loved every minute of it. the only thing i could pick with it, is when they wasted 3-4 eps on each character, showing us scenes of previous episodes. it was redundant filler imo, and could've be done without.
