pacificpikachuMan, this love triangle's making my head spin. Not so much what's happening in it (as it's fairly easy to follow what's going on), but the implications and intentions of the characters and all that. Alto continues to frustrate me, though I do appreciate that we at least are seeing his perspective a little tiny bit. It only took them, oh, I don't know, nearly the entire series to get to this point. Anyway, I don't think this is going to get straightforward any time soon so I feel like attempting to analyze it to death at this point is pointless. I'll probably do it anyway, though, because what else is there to do between episodes?
I don't even know what side I'm on any more, haha. I do think it's possible Alto is in love with Ranka (maybe? I don't even know. ALTO WINS MR. VAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE YEAR), but I feel so awful for Sheryl that her life is such a mess (and that Alto's in a relationship with her already) so I don't even know. I'm still edging for a Ranka ending I suppose but then what will happen to Sheryl? :( She can't just have an entire life of doom and gloom. That's no good.
The focus on Alto/Ranka in this episode could've just been a fake-out, though.
I guess OT3 is the solution! WOOHOO!
Or maybe all Alto really cares about is the sky.
I wonder if they are going to kill Sheryl after all? Again, I don't know. I'm leaning towards "They're not, she'll be cured somehow by Ranka's vajra magic," because it would just be so tragic (not to mention incite fan riots) if she actually dies. But I do feel like there is a possibility, even if it's small, that she'll die. Maybe protecting Alto? Or Ranka? HMMM. I highly doubt it, but it's interesting to think about where the series is going from here.
There's no way Alto's going to kill Ranka. I think there's a sliiight possibility that Ranka could die/disappear, but in the unlikely chance that she did it wouldn't be at Alto's hand.
Plot-wise, things are getting interesting. I think the whole "swarm enemies that act as one like insects" thing is overdone so that didn't interest me much, but I do wonder how Ranka is going to affect the relationship between humans and vajra. Probably with a big concert. Ahh, only in Macross. :'D
Man, here I was going to talk about the plot and all the things I found interesting or intriguing, but now I forgot what I was going to say on that front. So basically I just rambled about the love triangle again. :/
Anyway, anyone else want to discuss Macross? Predictions, disagreements, thoughts on characters...? I'm itching to discuss for some reason so any viewpoints would be appreciated regardless of what they are. I feel like some of my opinions about characters/pairings/etc in the series are pretty shaky or change quite a bit depending on my mood and what's going on in the series so it's fun to discuss and debate things because it helps me figure out where I stand.
Blah, I might make some RL friends watch this series with me almost solely because I want to discuss it with them. XD
Also, I'm having so much fun with this ridiculous series. Maybe it's just my choice in fandoms, bu it's been a long time since I've seen the audience get so riled up! It's kind of fun watching everyone freak out about every little thing that happens.

Giving up making predictions is a wise and noble decision. I acknowledge that, tell myself I will stop trying to predict what's going to happen, and yet I cannot stop regardless. :'D
I wish Alto would just make up his damn mind, make it clear and straightforward, and communicate it to everyone. Considering his history during this series, though, I know that's a high order. :/

And I do like Brera/Ranka to bad he really did turn out to be her brother but then Kawamori has made endings where the character stuck with their sibling like in Escaflowne. It doesn't have to be romantic.
