ANIME EXPO 2008

So, I'm back from Anime Expo alive and well! It was absolutely fantastic this year and I hope to do a report of some sort at least, even if it's just a summary. Everything ran so smoothly this year and overall it was way more relaxed than any other AX I've been to. It was lots of fun! I actually liked the new location a bunch even though there was a ton of walking and it was a bit expensive.

Also, I'm very embarrassed that I put Tomokazu Sugita instead of Toshihiko Seki in the last entry. It was written on almost no sleep--I do know the difference, I swear! D: Between Toshihiko Seki, Tomokazu Seki (who I have also met) and Tomokazu Sugita it's confusing when you're sleep-deprived, in a hotel room with a bunch of fun distracting people, and not proofreading.

I'm fairly tired despite getting a lot of sleep in and out of Lynn's car last night, and I'm feeling somewhere between extremely happy and just the slightest bit gloomy for no reason (combination of post-con gloom and PMS, I suspect).

Those who I saw there--it was wonderful seeing you, even if it was only briefly! Those who I didn't--sorry I missed you!

While I was there, aside from all the great stuff I bought (nearly everything I was hoping to buy, actually!) I won a lot of forty-five Pokémon plush on Ebay for $73 shipped. :O :O :O OMFG, I have no idea how they're going to fit in my room, but I'll be keeping around fifteen of them and selling the rest. So very excited. I also bought eight Pokémon plush there to begin with so...LOL, my collection. It is painfully large. I need to post it someday but I always ALWAYS have things in the mail so it is hopeless. :(

So everyone knows, I am reading your f-list entries from when I was gone. :) I am not replying to the vast majority of them, however. Sorry! Just know I read them. Not including communities, you guys posted more than three hundred posts in the last five or six days. I think there were around a thousand posts while I was gone if you include communities, so I have a lot of catching up to do.

I hate to do it, but I think an f-list cut is imminent. I spend way too much time and energy every day reading my friends-list and replying to posts, and while I like all of you there are a number of you who don't reply to my comments or post in my journal at all, and there are several people I can't even remember who they are. If you're reading this, you're probably safe (and if you've replied/we've talked recently you almost definitely are), but if you have any doubts and want to say you'd like to stay (or that you don't mind being cut--I won't be offended and it'll be drama-free, I promise!) feel free to reply. The comments aren't screened, but if the comment is of a personal nature or whatever you can just PM me instead or I can screen it once you post it.

Like I said, I hate f-list cuts and I don't want to do one, but I'd also rather concentrate my time and energy on people who actually care and make an effort to keep in touch than people I never hear from. I'll allow the cuts to be contested as well if I cut you and you really wanted to stay. ^^;

I got a new cell phone today on the way home. It's just a minimal one, but it's nicer than my other ones and at least its battery will hopefully not freak out over every little thing like my old phone. (Those who talked to me on the phone at Anime Expo got the old "Sorry, my phone is dying!" at least once.) Thankfully all my contacts were transferred so no one needs to give me cell numbers again.

Anyway, Anime Expo was a big success this year for me and now I'm looking forward to relaxing and going to smaller cons until next year's May and July roll around. :) I get my birds back tomorrow, and tomorrow I'll probably post about the things I got at least and maybe do some photos/talking about the con.

Yeeeah, forty-five. :O My max bid was $130 or something, and I'm really shocked it didn't go for way, way, way more than that (much less what I got it for). These are nice, rare expensive plush, too, not just crappy ones. o__o

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS THERE. Cons don't go beyond two days here (and half the time the second day is pretty slack), so longer cons - what, is it five days? - are beyond my comprehension. What do you dooooooooo? Are you intending to post a con report?

EXPO IS HUUUUUUUGE!

Wow, only two days? That's so short! Only really small cons are generally that short here.

The convention is only four days, but the night before there's usually badge pick up and sometimes karaoke and whatnot.

Let's see, during the four days I usually:
- Go to a large number of panels
- Get lots of autographs
- Attend many of the major events like the AMV contest, Masquerade, concerts, opening/closing ceremonies, etc.
- Peruse the dealer's room at least ten times
- Go to cosplay gatherings
- Wander randomly
- Attend screenings
- Browse artist's alley a few times
- Stay up late hanging out with friends
- Talk to random strangers
- Do karaoke
- Go to the gaming room
- Take cosplay pictures/show off my costumes

As they say at opening ceremonies, they cram enough stuff in those four days to last most people a month. So it's very very busy.

I will post a con report with pictures! It'll probably be a shortened version just because if I wrote about everything it would be 822482429 pages long but I do intend to write something and show off pictures!

LOL, I think my Pokémon collection may have slightly transcended the realm of cool and interesting and gone into the realm of a bit pathetic. But that's okay--I love it all the same!

I hope you have a good time at your convention, even if it isn't as huge as Anime Expo. :3 Everyone seems envious of how big Anime Expo is, and that's good in some ways (like we get amazing guests), but BIG BIG cons like Anime Expo tend to be chaotic and insane. @__@

Huzzah! Good times were had and that's the main thing, name mixing up notwithstanding XD (you had other stuff to pay attention to).

And, OMG 45 plush lot. That's immense! But you'll have fun rearranging the ones you're keeping to fit, I bet. A photo would be sweet! Even if it's not totally complete at any given time :P Do you have a pic of the lot? I'm curious to see who's in it?

As for the flist cut--feel free to take me off if you want, since I know I post mainly fanfic that is not relevant to your interests [/lolcat]. I shall keep you though, 'cause you're interesting (birdies! :D) even if I'm not all up to date on the anime you're watching. 'Sides you're a NaNo buddy too.

YES! I'm so shocked the lot didn't go for way, way, way more than it did. :O The only thing I can think is that the plush were in multiple pictures so perhaps people thought it was only the plush in the first picture? Because $73 is NOTHING for these plush. I'll be sure to take a picture when they arrive in a couple of days.

I just get really lucky--it's weird. I have no idea why the auction didn't go higher, as many of the plush in it are rare/nice ones. I saw an auction last night of around the same amount of plush, and it was going for more than this one did and had nothing but cheapo plush.

I suggest searching "pokemon plush lot" and whatnot--you'll run across good things often that way. :D Also search for misspellings and variations on the same thing.

Anime Expo is a large and crazy convention, and I think it's worth going to at least once. Seeing that many anime fans is just...stunning. Maybe you could save up for it and try to go in a year or two!

Yes, I think it was an amazing deal! Once those and a few other plush arrive, I'm going to try to do room pictures/pictures of my Pokémon collection. It's...slightly insane, haha.
