I'll write a separate post on the rest of the day, but this clearly deserves a post all its own. XD
So, today in Animal Science, I palpated a cow.
By 'palpated,' I mean that I stuck my arm--nearly up to my shoulder--up her rectum. Voluntarily. Twice. Note that I had shoulder-length gloves on, but...still. Point stands.
It was...actually rather interesting, and not nearly as unpleasant as I expected it to be. Once I got over WHAT EXACTLY I WAS DOING, it was just fine. If nothing else, it was definitely a life experience, and I imagine I'll have to do it during vet school at some point so--no big deal! I'm ahead of the game.
The whole gluing my petrified hummingbird back together thing looks so tame in comparison to this.
Proceed being disgusted and confused. :D

Date: 2008-04-29 07:16 am (UTC)The most I've ever done is skin a cat for AP Bio and stick things into a rat for Tissue Engineering, thus far. ....I think today we get to kill the rat and see what happened to the thing we stuck in it.
D= Why is do your classes sound so much more infinitely more interesting? And my Tissue Engineering class is supposed to have really interesting labs...
