I had a nice weekend. On Friday I worked on cosplay with Nicole and Aubrey. Nicole went wig shopping online and tore the tape off of her Nia costume (revealing such lovely red lines underneath--I'm glad our plan worked out so well!), Aubrey sewed fluff on to her Matt vest, and I fought with Wonderflex. I think, based off of all my annoyance and frustration, that the Wonderflex won, but just barely. I still got it into a slightly better shape than it was before, though it still needs a lot of work. :/

Went out to dinner with Ryan and dad at Tuscany Gardens. This was quite delicious.

Saturday, I went to the annual Songbird Training class. I taught a segment of it, and I think it went very well. In fact, the whole class was a lot of fun; such an enthusiastic group of people that I was wishing I had baby birds already. Alas, I have to wait another two weeks before I can devote my entire waking life to the mouthes of tiny featherballs. It'll be fun getting back into the rehabber groove, though. Even when it's depressing or stressful, it still beats schoolwork. I mean, how can baby birds NOT beat homework?

Today I went with dad and Ryan to this Home and Garden show at the fairgrounds for a little while. I was hoping the Hawaiian Ice people would be there because I really wanted a coconut one, but I didn't see them there. :( Dad bought this cool metal lizard decoration for the yard, though. Other than that, we basically just came, walked through it once, and left.

I spent some of the day watching more Kurenai and Macross Frontier. I'm enjoying both a lot. :D Kurenai is growing on me. I'm still not convinced I love the whole dispute mediator thing and Shinkurou's weird power, but I love Murasaki and Shinkurou and a lot of the minor characters, too. It's a cute show. Nothing super-impressive, but I'm enjoying it. It makes me smile, and I'm starting to notice a theme of misunderstanding in it.

Macross Frontier is all kinds of entertaining. I don't think it's anything special or amazing or anything, but it's so good at being entertaining that I don't care. I don't normally like the super-cutesy types of characters, but Ranka is ADORABLE. ♥ The color of Sheryl's hair continues to fascinate me for some reason. XD I'm kind of "meh" on Alto, but whatever. Most of the minor characters are likeable, too. Of course, the Yoko Kanno music is beautiful and wonderful and really makes the show, IMO. I'm almost ashamed to admit how much I'm enjoying the series because I recognize its' lack of originality, but...it's so much fun! I'm looking forward to more coming out.

I'm making my way through Kaiji, too, albeit just a few episodes at a time. The intelligence of the writing amazes me; it's so intricate! I'm glad I decided to watch it, because it's a very interesting series and so well paced that the episodes go by in a flash.

FINALLY Toshokan Sensou was subbed; I'll be watching that as soon as I get a chance, along with a number of other Spring series I've downloaded.

Mom picked me up from dad's earlier today and we went out to see Rivi (our Thoroughbred gelding). At the stable, two foals were just born! One was born on Friday and the other was born today. They're sooooo adorable. ♥ I spent a long time taking pictures of them, and then I started taking pictures of Rivi running and bucking. I'll post some pictures of both the foals and Rivi if anyone is interested in me doing so. They're pretty cute pictures.

I'm NOT looking forward to the next two weeks of school. I have an unpleasant paper due on Wednesday that I haven't even started, a Zoology test on Tuesday, and a big presentation on Thursday. I don't mind the presentation so much, as it's on the intelligence of crows and other corvids (a topic that interests me very much), but the paper... D: It's on chicken growth, which normally WOULD interest me, but our hypothesis was so obvious that I don't know how I'm supposed to BS a five or six page paper on it. (The question we were trying to answer? Which grows faster: A laying breed, or a meat breed? Durrrr.) I mostly just hate the research aspects of it. That'll be what I'm working on the next two days, and then I'll probably throw the crow presentation together on Wednesday. The Zoology test shouldn't be a problem, either. I just need to study for it. :/

Of course, the week after that is finals, which isn't exactly a fun week, either.

I also have packages to send out on Tuesday (I haven't even packaged them up yet, and there's ten of them).

Hmmm. I'm thinking about selling some of my doujinshi. I don't even look at most of it, and while I'm ridiculously attached to a few of them due to pretty art or extreme amounts of adorable, there's probably at least six or seven I wouldn't mind selling off. I think I may do that later in the week.

Yay I am glad someone else is watching Kure-nai on my FL. I still have to watch ep 4. XD

Ha Ha and see I really like Alto even though he will probably turn out to be a typical hero. I like Sheryl and Ranka too. I do wish Ranka had more of a backbone but I am sure that will develop over the course of the story.

Yes! I'm not going to be dropping it, either, so we can discuss it together. :D

I'm not sure why I don't care for Alto much... I may be biased just because his design is so typical long-haired bishounen and he just doesn't strike me as a very interesting or atypical character. But, hey, that could change. It's not as though I dislike him, I'm just not amazingly fond of him. And, yes, I'm sure Ranka will get more a backbone as the series goes on. She's so cuuute. ;__;

You train songbirds? :0 That is SO FUCKING COOL 8D

Hahaha, I train people to raise songbirds, rather. And I raise and release wild songbirds during the summer. :D You'll be hearing all about it in a few weeks.

Yes! I can't wait to get some in so I can post adorable pictures of them. :D ♥

Yep, doujinshi. XD I've got around...hmmm, thirty, I think, and I'm probably culling seven or eight of them.

I feel the same way about Macross Frontier xD I'm not sure why I'm so wrapped up in it when it really doesn't have any special qualities akjsds. It's just so... pretty lulz. Pretty animation, pretty music, pretty characters. I'M SHALLOW.

I'm glad I'm not alone! XD I was sitting there kind of feeling guilty about enjoying it so much... But I really like it! It's just one those fun, pretty series that's hard not to enjoy on some level, I guess. Sure, it's not brilliant, but as entertainment? It's great. :D

I'm glad the songbird class was a success! Aww. <3 Oh, um... if the bat person in Davis (I forgot their name oo;) would still like help, I THINK I would still be able to. If summer really does get as busy as they said. I don't have any summer plans yet (except for AX, BWAHAHAHA) though I'll try to find a job... but volunteer work and taking care of bats would be neat. :D So basically I think I'll have enough free time for that sort of stuff. And of course take some time off to visit you and your animals sometime!

Summer really is approaching fast, it was so hot today in town. Can't wait for graduation... though standing in the sun for hours in blue gowns doesn't sound fun either.

COSPLAY! By the way, one of my friends finally caught up on Naruto, so that's been very nice. XD Now I'm working on getting her into fandom so that she can read fics and watch amvs and all that fine stuff. Doujinshi too. mm mm. She's the one who I'm going to AX with, also another friend... but this friend is going to cosplay as Edward Elric for AX. She's blond and... my height which can be considered short. I think it'll be awesome. I'm thinking of cosplaying Tomoe from Rurouni Kenshin, but if I really do, I want to buy a nice kimono, not a white sheet bathrobe type costume. Plus if I buy a nice one, the cost can be made up in that I'd cosplay her again probably if I go to another convention (which I'd like to, methinks.) Who are you cosplaying for Fanime again? I remember you showed me pictures of two animal characters... :)

LONG scattered COMMENT IS LONG

Yes, it was! I wish you could have come, though it's a long drive up here for knowledge you can't necessarily apply right away. :( I'm e-mailing Janey right now to get Corky's number (and maybe e-mail) for you, so I'll respond with that when I get it. Don't be shy about contacting her--she's REALLY passionate, and I'm sure she'd be thrilled to hear that you're interested! Of course, you'll have to get rabies vaccines, which isn't super-pleasant, but from what I've heard working with the bats is so interesting and rewarding that it's completely worth it. ♥

Oh, also, there's a songbird rehabber who was at the last class who's also in Davis, so if I talk to her sometime soon, you could probably work with her. She sounds like she has some experience already, so maybe you two could talk sometime. She seemed really nice. I'll let you know if I hear anything from/about her, especially contact info. Anyway, just an idea.

Yes, you definitely must visit! :D

It's been really hot today here, too. Of course, I was down in Lincoln today at a farm, so it's even hotter there. ;__; Graduation is sooo unexciting. I rushed home afterwards to feed scrub jays, though, haha, so I think I missed out on some of the fun of it. XD

YES, COSPLAY! I think you would make a lovely Tomoe~ You should do it! Cosplay is so much fun, and if you show up at a convention without a costume, it sometimes feels like you're naked or something is wrong because the longing to be in costume gets so strong. XD If you can do a costume, you should definitely try to. If you need any tips or ideas, cosplay.com is so helpful. And I'm really happy you got a friend to catch up in Naruto. :) Good luck with the fandom stuff! While Naruto fandom can be irritating sometimes (the ship wars, seme/uke wars, and so on), there's a LOT of amazing Naruto fanfiction/fanart/AMVs/etc out there.

I'm cosplaying Boota from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and Densuke from Dennou Coil. ♥ (Both series you should watch--at least before AX!)

AX is going to be soooo much fun--I can't wait!

Potential BAT AND BIRD rehabbing, close to home? Awe-soooooome. That would be a good way to spend some summer time. All right, I'll call her... but after this month. Once May is over, all my huge research projects are pretty much over. Hopefully the finals too. I'm not worried or have any problem about getting the rabies vaccine at all, so it's all just a matter of figuring out the work.

I browsed through cosplay.com a bit (such lovely cosplay pictures) but didn't see much about buying, except for 2 ads in the marketplace. :) I'll look more later.

Yeaah, I definately want to avoid the wank and fancrap. e_e;; The funny thing is, a lot of the problems in Naruto fandom (like shipping wars) seems really tame compared to the Avatar: The Last Airbender fandom, which is really sad and ironic, since it is technically a cartoon for children. I guess it's because there are so many young idiot girls who ship couples and can't appreciate anything else in the series? ugh. But yeah, the seme/uke thing for sasunaru is still very idiotic. -o- *flaps it away*
I can't wait to rec her AMVs. :) I'll probably send her a playlist of all the ops and ending themes just so that maybe she can learn a song or two. lol. And I'm going to try and pimp Rayemars' "Ripple Effect" and maybe even some discussion posts, because those are what really got me thinking about Naruto more intricately. I really think if it wasn't for fandom and lots of the really interesting and thoughtful analyses, I wouldn't be as big a fan after the past three years. I just really enjoy how there is a niche for every group in Naruto, like there is a fanbase for the ANBU and jounin we've seen only a couple of times, a fanbase for the adults, the various teams, etc... like I never used to think about the Hyuuga much until I read a fanfic called "Oracle" which sort of revolved around the Hyuuga clan's political workings and such, and it really fascinated me.

blahblahblah. Going to bed now. XDDD;;;
