Mar. 26th, 2008 11:39 pmUGH. So, today I get out of the library (where we went for Animal Science today), and walk towards the cafeteria for lunch, and what a lovely sight greets me!
Signs with dead fetuses on them! Joy! My favorite thing to see right before lunch! And with incorrect "ages" on them, too! Nice going, pro-lifers. My mom's a labor and delivery nurse; while I may hate babies and be utterly squicked by pregnancy, I DO know at least a little about development, and those were NOT eight-week-old fetuses. LIARS. They had signs with obviously third-trimester abortions on them, and they'd say things like "THIS IS A TEN-WEEK-OLD FETUS." Uh, no it isn't. Anyone with even a rudimentary grasp on Biology should be able to tell that.
They were attempting to hand me pamphlets more or less all day (seeing as I had to walk that route several times). I was so angry I just stormed past each time. They had CHILDREN handing out these pamphlets. Guh, the least they can do is spare their children from these things.
Oh, and you know what? Comparing abortion to the Holocaust is just disgusting and insulting and wrong. They're NOTHING alike, and anyone even drawing that comparison automatically gets demoted to the very lowest regions of my Respect-o-Meter. That is NOT RIGHT at all.
It was kind of hilarious, though, because just as I was going out of the library and into the pro-life shark territory, KK walked up, and we made mutual "D:" faces at each other. It was just...funny timing.
Anyway, this whole thing made me so mad I had trouble concentrating in Calculus. I wanted to say something to them so badly, but I know no amount of my logical arguments will get through to these people. *Sigh*
LOL, KK and I figured out how to bypass the filter of the "Research Computers" in the computer lab at the library. We went up there so she could print something, and then I looked over and she was reading some article on Torchwood. I laughed and facepalmed, and then we proceeded to attempt to get on LiveJournal for no other reason than seeing if we could. When we went to the main page, it didn't work, but by going to a community or a specific user, it would go through. That was easy. It's so ridiculous that our COLLEGE blocks FaceBook, LJ, MySpace, Ebay, etc. I can understand the need to, but it still seems so...dumb.
I got more packages today! I swear, opening the mailbox to find a bunch of packages there for me is sooo satisfying. Do you guys get all excited when you get things in the mail? Of course, it was even more adorable Pokémon stuff. ♥ Go figure. :B My beanbag where I put most of my larger plushes that I had at dad's was overfilled, but somehow turning it over fixed the whole problem and now all seventeen plush that reside on it fit there. I'm waiting for a few more packages, and once those arrive I'll finally take some new room pictures. I really want to show off my collection!
I just requested that Celga ship my Densuke plush to me. ♥ Some people collect ball jointed dolls, some collect antiques, I collect...cute fluffy things. I'm such a sucker for cute fluffy things. ;3;
Started downloading Kaiji! I have so many things on my To Watch list and who knows when I'll get to them (PRINCESS TUTU I WILL WATCH YOU SOMETIME SOON, I SWEAR T__T), but at least downloading it is a good step in the right direction. :D
I keep randomly browsing Tegaki and wishing I had a tablet. I might have to look into getting one once all my big conventions for the year are done with~ I feel so retro doing drawings only by hand.
I just found my Wolf's Rain AMV again! Not that I lost it before, but I hadn't thought about it in a while. It's...actually better than I remembered it being. I mean, it's not GREAT or anything, but it's decent! The timing is slightly off at a few points, but to be honest, I'm kind of tempted to enter it in a small convention AMV contest if an opportunity arises. There's no way it could compete on a big-con level because it's pretty mediocre, but...it's better than a lot of the stuff that goes into small convention AMV contests, anyway, and it might stand a chance!
I may post it here if I can compress it down to a size that is...uh, not 4GB. I have no idea why it's still so big, but my compression attempts all failed miserably. I need to ask one of my AMV editor con friends about compression... Or look up guides online or something. I want it to still be pretty, but be a more manageable size, like 70MB or so.
For extra credit in Zoology tomorrow, I'm going to what I think is a lecture on evolution versus creationism. So, uh, possible rant again tomorrow. >3
Man, I had a brilliant idea for this really haunting/poetic Pokémon fanfic while I was trying to go to sleep last night. I'm beginning to realize mentally telling myself a bedtime story to get myself to sleep is NOT a good idea, seeing as I always come up with something cool and then I want to write it. Immediately.

Date: 2008-03-28 05:53 am (UTC)They do it because they don't want people misusing the computer lab, which is supposed to be for research only. It's still annoying, though--what if I was blogging on something for a class? What if I was talking to a professor or fellow student on Facebook about a class?
Mail is so much love! \o/ If I wasn't so bad at sending things out in a timely fashion, I'd totally send people stuff all the time.

Date: 2008-03-27 08:41 am (UTC)Do get a tablet! 8DDDDD I recently got converted into Tegaki by a friend. Well, I had an account since when it started, but just never used it. XD; I want to see more of your art~ ♥

Date: 2008-03-28 05:57 am (UTC)Then again, I used to read very R-rated Gravitation roleplays during class when I was fifteen (mostly for laughs), so perhaps their paranoia at the high school level is a little justified. Certainly not colleges, though. :/
I'm definitely going to look into it! Before Fanime and Anime Expo, I just have to be careful with money because of hotels/cosplay/food/dealer's room expenses. 8D Do you have any recommendations on which tablet to get?

I mean, come now, if you're going to support an argument, at least have good solid evidence and quit playing the guilt card. XD

At least the pro-lifer in Juno was quite sweet and silly... and on her own. More RL pro-lifers should be like that.

Date: 2008-03-27 04:33 pm (UTC)And then, to be fucking retarded, they sent some up IN THE SCIENCE SECTION OF OUR CAMPUS. That's just asking to have your throats torn into. We don't put up with that crap xD

Date: 2008-03-28 06:17 am (UTC)Hahaha, I'm sure the science department appreciated that! XD I'm a science major, and I know *I* don't!

Date: 2008-03-28 06:19 am (UTC)WE SHOULD SHOP FOR ONE TOGETHER! Tegaki has inspired me! Except I probably won't be able to afford one for another six months, but...uh... .__.; If you hear about any particularly good but affordable ones, let me know. :D

I know--I can't believe the lies the pro-lifers spout sometimes. Hahaha, your description made me laugh. It's completely true.

Date: 2008-03-28 06:34 am (UTC)It always shocks me when people don't believe in evolution. Maybe it's just because I'm a science major, but to me evolution seems so obvious that denying it just doesn't seem...sane. I actually attended an evolution versus creationism seminar today, so I'll be writing about that shortly.
Really? Cool! I actually have a baby/pregnant woman phobia so it's rather ironic, but it's still great that we have that in common. Even if I don't care for it, it's a very important job, and my mom enjoys it!
