I've spent quite a while (read: weeks) downloading Ayakashi so I can watch the Bakeneko arc before starting Mononoke. Finally, it finished, but...
All the subtitles are in Spanish. T__T Well, that's helpful. It would have been nice if the torrent specified this before I spent a few weeks waiting for it to download.
I've been having fun on Cosplay.com for the last few hours. 8D I'm so tired by now that I'm starting to get loopy and realize my sentences aren't making sense, yet still I'm looking around on the forums at great length. I should probably go to bed soon, but Cosplay.com is just so addictive. I can't help it!
I found a Yasako cosplayer who's attending AX, so I PMed her in hopes of traveling around with her at AX while I'm in my Densuke costume. Maybe there will be at least the slightest bit more recognition that way. Man, we seriously need more Dennou Coil cosplayers. Anyone up for it? I know most of the characters are eleven years old, but...it would be fun! And I know where to get perfect Dennou glasses for $5, if that tempts anyone further. I'm trying to get Nicole to be Tamako, Makayla said something about doing an Isako costume, and...yeah, I think that's about it.LOL, Nicole's little brother Dylan would be the perfect Daichi. Too bad he'd never do it.
Speaking of Dennou Coil cosplay, my friends and I still need to get together and make that giant paper-maché Satchii before we all forget about it and remember two days before Fanime or something equally ridiculous. Wait! :O That would be awesome if I hosted a Satchii work party for my birthday. Or maybe just cosplay in general, with an emphasis on building the Satchii...? We'll see. It's a thought, anyway. I can't think of anything more fun at the moment than getting a whole group of friends together for a huge cosplay work party/photoshoots/showing off costumes. The problem would be, of course, that not everyone cosplays, but...we could work around that. :D
Today I discovered that Dad's DVD player plays .avi files, so I had fun rooting through my data DVD-Rs and watching the few files with the correct codecs on the big screen. So pretty! I wish Gurren Lagann worked, though I suppose I could just burn it on DVDs until the official ones are out. All of Beck worked, but the aspect ratio was weird so I couldn't see any of the subtitles at all. ;__; I still enjoyed watching a few of the concerts, though. Darker than Black is prettier than I remembered it being. *__*
Hm, I guess I should really go to sleep... The light is starting to look distorted, and my eyes feel all heavy.

Date: 2008-02-22 07:48 pm (UTC)Oh, thanks for the link! I'll go check and see if those direct downloads are still working. :3 And I wasn't aware that Ayakashi is out on DVD, so if I end up liking it, I'll probably buy it. I'm one of those people who downloads fansubs, but I do almost always buy the legit product if I can afford it. (If I can't, I just wait until I can.)

Date: 2008-02-22 03:29 pm (UTC)B-but AX is way too far 8D; I'm on the other side of the country. I've been thinking of trying to get a group together for Otakon, though...

Date: 2008-02-22 10:09 pm (UTC)According to the Yasako on Cosplay.com, we also might have a Haraken and an Isako, too, so we might end up with a nice little group. :D I hope you're able to get a good group together, too!

I'll try! I'll have to make a cosplay.com account in order to advertise on the forums, but xD;

Date: 2008-02-22 07:53 pm (UTC)1. What to use for the internal structure. (We're thinking chicken wire, as myself and a few friends already have some, but chicken wire is tough to work with.)
2. How will we transport it to the convention?
But I think we'll figure both things out and possibly have a few work days to get it all together and painted and such. I want to put it on wheels and attach it to myself with fishing wire (when I'm Densuke) and have it "chase" me around Fanime and Anime Expo, hahaha.

Date: 2008-02-22 11:24 pm (UTC)Really? That's kind of odd. I had heard rumors about it being really "elitist and snobbish," but after hanging out at the forums I realized that this wasn't true at all. In fact, almost everyone I've talked to there is super-helpful, encouraging, and just...there are a lot of cool people there. Do you have any particular reasons?

Date: 2008-02-22 11:30 pm (UTC)Yeah...I think when I went on the forums there once, people were rather snobbish, now that you mention that. I can't remember exactly, but I haven't had any desire to go on there.

Date: 2008-02-22 11:40 pm (UTC)Really? Everyone I've talked to there has been so nice (one time I was having trouble with my costume, and like fifteen different people posted TWO PAGE posts on what I could do to solve the problem), and I love reading all the threads! I mean, I'm sure there's the occasional stuck-up person, but same with...anywhere else, really. Maybe you should give it another chance.
Speaking of cosplay, do you have anything planned? You haven't mentioned cosplay in a while now.

Date: 2008-02-23 05:08 am (UTC)I've loved all of your costumes I've seen pictures of. D: What's mediocre about them? Perhaps you just need a more ambitious project.

Date: 2008-02-24 03:42 am (UTC)Well, my Tohru costume, which was my first cosplay, has several problems. The ribbons aren't aligned in the front, the top is too wide, and I don't have a wig, so my hair is the wrong color. For my Colette costume, the collar is too narrow, so I can't wear either of the necklaces that are supposed to go with it, and the top jacket gets misaligned, etc. Plus, I'm really bad at the "playing" part of cosplay. To me, a more ambitious project = even more time and money invested in producing a mediocre product and just getting everyone around me angry.
