BITTERN

Photobucket

Originally he was marquee-ing, but sometimes it wasn't fully showing up and I didn't want anyone to miss out on his brilliance. :(

SORRY TO KILL YOUR F-LIST D: I HAD TO DO IT. I HAD TO. You don't understand.

We went birdwatching today at Graylodge. Initially I was grumpy because we didn't leave until 3:30 PM due to my mom visiting her horse when we were supposed to be leaving as usual, and we got lost on the way, so by the time we got there, the park ranger said we only had forty-five minutes to birdwatch.

But my luck turned around when I saw an American Bittern. They're not uncommon birds or anything, but I had never seen one before and it literally made my day. WHY ARE THEY SO CUTE AND STRANGE? I LOVE THEM. The way they walk is the most dorkiest, cutest thing ever. *A* I videotaped him, and from there we experienced one of the prettiest sunsets I have seen. Ever.

The sky was all slate blue and cloudy and majestic-looking from impending rain, and the trees were all bright gold-orange and so bright it looked almost like they were on fire or made entirely of pure gold, and there were THREE BRIGHT RAINBOWS amidst the blue and all of the red-winged blackbirds had gathered in the tops of the shining trees and they were all singing, and the ducks were black shadows on the water, which was reflecting all these incredible colors. It was seriously beyond belief.

I videotaped all of this, but I haven't uploaded any of the videos yet. >_> Actually, I've never uploaded any of my videos so far with this camcorder, but I will someday. And perhaps I will share some of them, too, if I can get them to a manageable but still pretty size. 8D

In addition to that awesomeness, we saw a ton of egrets and coots, a couple of Great Blue Herons, a LOT of hawks and kites and kestrels, some deer, several rabbits (including a baby that was literally like three feet away before it went into some brush), tons and tons of Tundra Swans, another bittern, wild pheasants, and lots of great species of ducks. 8D It was amazing.

Then we were hanging around in Yuba City, which is pretty unexciting. We went by Target, which still doesn't have Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and...uh. Boring. There was a remote control Buizel that I wanted very badly, but I don't have enough money so I just decided I'll pick one up another time.

This is the second weekend I've told myself that I was either a) going to hang out with friends a bunch or b) watch a ton of anime, and I have done neither. In fact, I accomplished extremely close to nothing. At least today I actually left the house, haha. I fail. ._.; Next weekend, I will ACTUALLY do something with friends and most likely watch anime, too.

I have a math test tomorrow. I don't think it'll be too difficult, thankfully. I hope. D:

As are you!! I'm not sure if I've met anyone else who's seen it except for the person with whom I watched it. XD I saw it a little over a month ago, so I can't wait til I forget the details so that I can watch it again and be somewhat surprised, so that I can rediscover it. ^^;

Yes! I didn't take it, but it's lovely. ♥ I didn't have anything besides my camcorder on me, so I couldn't take any still pictures.

Yes, I loved it! They're so adorable.

I didn't hear its sound. :( It came out of the marshes for a little while and was standing on a hill in a comedic manner, and then it flew off after I filmed it for about fifteen seconds. The other one flew up with a heron and then landed and was sitting still pretending we couldn't see it. XD

Not my picture. I wish it was!
