BLACK SHUCK
Jan. 21st, 2008 01:16 amI finally actually did something with my DeviantArt account! Of course, when I started uploading things, the site went into read-only mode, which made me angry--but still! I've had the account for like three years and I never did anything at all with it in that time. I uploaded some drawings (which were well-received) and then came to the bright realization that I can post photography, too, so once the site goes out of read-only mode, I'll be inundating my account with bird and pet photos. >D
Okay, okay, I'm not going to post that many. But I am going to post the nicer ones. It makes me feel guilty doing that, though, simply because if I post one pet or one rehab bird, I feel like I need to post ALL the pets and ALL the rehab birds. That would be thousands of pictures, many of which are not good at all. IT'S NOT FAVORITISM, PETS, IT'S JUST A MATTER OF WHICH PHOTOS TURNED OUT GOOD. T__T
Unsurprisingly, my account URL is http://pacificpikachu.deviantart.com/ if anyone wants to look at the same darn drawings and photos I post here. You can friend me if you have an account, too. XD NOT EVERYTHING IN THERE IS GOOD. I just...started posting stuff at random. And it's not my fault if you watch me and end up buried in bird pictures. You've been warned. XD
Of all the strange things to do, the last few days I've been obsessively researching black dog apparitions. It's extremely interesting to me, as I had a black dog apparition experience when I was very young, and what happened to me was typical of a black dog experience (of course, I had no idea about this at the time--but the more I search, the more it matches up). It's just...weird, when people have been reporting the same apparition for centuries in nearly every country in the world, with roughly the same description. It seems like a pervasive theme in human culture, or something. I don't know, I recommend looking it up sometime if that kind of thing interests you. It's fascinating. I intend to do a drawing of what I saw one of these days, too.
Hmmm, it's starting to get late enough that my loopiness is beginning. I shall make leave of this entry before I write exceedingly strange things.

Um, my experience is a bit of a long story (well, not really a long story, but I can describe it a lot). I'll just summarize really briefly, unless a bunch of people are wondering in which case I may make an entry about it.
When I was four, I was sitting out in the front yard of my house, and a gigantic black dog apparition (glowing red eyes, about the size of a calf or a small horse) appeared in the middle of the street. It was running in place with sort of a...mist around it, and it had slobber running down its jaws. I stared at it for several minutes as it continued to run without making any progress, and suddenly a car came speeding up and hit the dog.
The apparition kind of...skidded, I guess, and when it fell to the street it disappeared entirely. The guy's car had a huge dent in the front from the impact and he jumped out, and when he saw I was there, he said "Did you see that?! MAN, what the hell was that?!" and then he took off in his car and sped off.
I still remember it like it happened yesterday--all the little details. It sounds really weird, but I swear it really did happen. O_o;

Date: 2008-01-21 10:15 am (UTC)I'm a total skeptic, too, but it's hard to be when you've had several weird experiences like I have. :( It actually wasn't that scary when it happened, but now it's really weird to think about. I think reading about other peoples' experiences freaks me out more than thinking about my own experience, though.
It's generally associated with death, but when it appears to women and children it can be a symbol of guardianship or protection.
Yep, that's what Sirius is based off of. :)

Date: 2008-01-21 01:17 pm (UTC)I've had black dog apparitions since forever too (although really it's more specifically "black wolf", which... probably falls in the same category). It's really more of a guardian thing, since I was a kid... or at least that's how it felt to me. I even named it. And I have one silver pendant of a wolf that I always keep with me, since I was a kid, because of it. I feel like it keeps me safe.
and now I'm talking crazy talk

The "bwuh" being there for the sheer skillz you have. (Yes you do, do not deny.)
Also, it's really cool to see pics of the all the animals you take care of -- I being a Major Ignoramus about these things, and thus having Real Pictures making it, well, real. XP

Date: 2008-01-26 02:20 am (UTC)Haha, those aren't even all my pets and rehab birds. But, yes, it is rather overwhelming when I realize just how many animals I actually have and have raised. O_o;

Date: 2008-02-04 04:04 am (UTC)Also, I did a decidedly rather creepy drawing of what I saw. I'll scan it and upload it to my DeviantArt account within the next week or so, probably.
