"Believe in me who believes in you."
Dec. 17th, 2007 12:59 pmI've totally been sleeping in until past noon every single morning since school ended. On one hand, this is good because I'm comfy and getting plenty of sleep. On the other hand, too much sleep means I have little motivation to do anything. So, I guess I should try to wake up earlier.
I finished Gurren Lagann yesterday evening! I wanted to write about it right away, but I decided I needed a little more time to think on it.
Awesome series. Inspirational, insane, entertaining. I loved it! I must admit, I was a bit disappointed with the second half--just a little, and I can't pinpoint why exactly--but overall, it was such a fun, wild ride like nothing I've ever seen before. I never did cry over it like it seems most of its viewers did, though. I don't know, I don't feel like it was the best series ever, or even the best series of the year (still Dennou Coil, so far), but it was darn great for the story it told and the energy it had and it was just...so much fun! I can't wait to rewatch it with some friends, as I'm still a little caught between the "OMFG GURREN LAGANN HELL YES!" and "Hm, really a great series, but... Maybe not as great as some would claim." I'm leaning more towards the first one, but my inner critic is skeptical.
Don't get me wrong, though. Regardless of any quibbles I may have with it, I did love it. So many moments where I wanted to stand up and cheer, and so many moments of pure, unadulterated AWESOME.
Timeskip Simon = UM DO WANT x 1000. ♥_♥
I still loved Yoko, Kamina, and most of the various other characters, though I never did get to the point of liking Nia. I wanted to like her--she was so cute, especially her eyes--but she just...she never did anything I felt was worthy of me liking her. I'm not a female character basher or anything even close to it (and I normally even like the sweet, innocent, mysterious girls, like Cheza), she just irritated me for some reason. :/ I didn't like her voice, and she seemed a bit Mary Sue-like. D:
Anyway, overall a great series. I had a blast watching it, and I'll definitely be showing it to my RL friends one of these days so we can be geeks and cheer and yell and have a grand time watching it.

Date: 2007-12-17 10:59 pm (UTC)It's awesome to me how inspiration the series was. Because it's a completely different type of inspiring its viewers than a normal anime does--it's like it was inspiring by sheer force. I loved that aspect of the series.
See, I never really got the whole Viral thing. I mean, no offense meant at all to those of you who love him, but I just...don't get it? He's a cool character, but...? IDK, just not my type maybe. XD
