The memorial service for Roya's mom was very sad. :( The ceremony itself was too centered around The Bible and not enough on the person we were supposed to be remembering, in my opinion, but the church was beautiful. Roya and Johnny both did an amazing job getting up there and talking about what an amazing person their mother was. They were so brave to get up there, and even through their tears and sorrow, talk about their mom who passed away only four days ago. I never met their mother, but I felt as though I could sense her presence--warm and loving--there in the church. It was a strange feeling.

At the reception afterwards, some people told stories about her, and our big group of friends did our best to comfort Roya. It was nice to see everyone again, though I wish it had been under better circumstances.

Now, I think I'll switch into some lighter topics.

~ Dennou Coil continues to be ADORABLE and charming. WATCH IT, PEOPLE, I'M SERIOUS HERE. Episode twelve was BRILLIANTLY LOLERIFFIC. Hahaha, it involves sentient beard-hair-people societies living on children's faces. I mean, how can you go wrong, seriously? It's even better than you think, too. Sooo funny and brilliant.

Eleven and thirteen were great, too, though I was hoping for more Haraken I'm not a pedo, I swear. Anyway, love this series, and I'm going to be eagerly awaiting every episode that comes out. It's such a well-balanced series, and so entertaining and cute and touching and occasionally a little creepy. WATCH IT. ENJOY IT. FANGIRL WITH ME, PLEASE? I need people to talk about it with, even if it's just unintelligible gushing.

~ I watched all of Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket. Yes, I know, it's a little unexpected for me to be watching retro Gundam series. It was recommended on ANN, though, and it's short enough that I figured I might as well watch it. It took me a while to get into it, but once I did...it was pretty remarkable. I was hoping for a little more from the final scene because I had heard so much about it, but while it maybe wasn't quite what I expected, it was still pretty damn sad.

It was a very well-told story, and quite emotionally involving. It's only six episodes, and I'd say it's definitely worth hunting down and watching if you like sad stories about children and war like I do. (Me, sick? Not at all!) No need to know anything about Gundam or like giant robots--I don't care for either. It's vintage late-eighties, so of course it's got some lame synthesizer music and it has that eighties feel, but for when it was made it has nice animation. I know it didn't bother me, and I'm spoiled rotten with all these pretty new series I've been watching. Anyway, yeah, just letting everyone know this is out there. 'Cause it really is worth the time you spend downloading it and watching it. I keep replaying bits of it in my head.

I'll be posting again soon with a song letter meme from onoes_mischief, but I have to go dig through my CDs first.

Um, hope you don't mind if I'm a complete stranger intruding from nowhere, but er, if you really like Dennou Coil maybe you'd like to join denno_coil ? It's kinda half-dead but should you ever want to make a fangirl post there I think it'd be greatly welcome.
I know I sound awfully advertising-like, and the problem is everyone really loves this show but nobody's talking about it (even me, which makes this rather hypocritical.)

Yeah 'cos I really like Isako and Haraken and the whole show is just too awesome. I actually noticed your posts only because I subscribe to the google blog feed for "denno coil" and "dennou coil" and your journal comes up. >_> Okay I'll disappear now.

Ooo, I'd love to join! I was actually thinking about doing a search for Dennou Coil-related communities, but for some reason it kept slipping my mind until weird times (ie, going to sleep, out doing something else).

I don't mind at all your coming on to "advertise". I do the same occasionally with some of my communities, and as long as it's something I'm interested in, I'm usually game to join. :D

Also, mind if I friend you? It seems we have pretty similar interests, and while my posts tend to be boring, it would be nice to have a friend to discuss with. :)

Yay! Glad you don't mind. The only thing of use I've mentioned in that comm is a translation of the Dennou Coil novel's prologue, and scans of the simple guidebook I got for it some time back.

I think that's like, the first person on my flist who's seen that show or something. Hallelujah! It's finished ages ago but it's one of my favourite shows of all time, pity I only watched it way after whatever active discussions there were for it died down...

Yeah, I don't mind at all! In fact, I'll go back and read all the backentries in the community once I get some time (haha, a little chaotic right now, with going back to school the day after tomorrow and all).

Oh, hooray! Yes, PlaneteS is another series I'd love to talk about with people, but never get a chance because no one has seen it. ._.; I saw it after the series stopped airing, too, so you're the first person I've met who's seen it at all! I try to keep up on lesser-known series, so hopefully we can recommend stuff to each other and such? :D

She's definitely having a very hard time with it. However, she's a strong person and she has a lot of good friends who care about her and will help her through this. I think she's going to need our help and support, but she will heal in time. She gave a beautiful, powerful speech at the funeral today.

Well, thats good! ^_^ As long as Roya has all of us to support her, she'll be ok! :D Besides, Royas one of the strongest people I know..or well, we both know, and we'll always be there to give her strength! ^_^
