Aug. 15th, 2007 11:26 amEw, I just got home from the hospital, where I got an upper GI test. It was nasty. They gave me these carbonated popping things (think: like pop rocks but EVIL and difficult to swallow), and then I had to drink a Barium solution as quickly as possible. It was a whole cup of it, really heavy and thick, and so so so nasty. I was supposed to drink it as fast as possible, but it was so thick and gross that I choked and nearly threw up. I was on this machine that kept moving me around, which was pretty cool, but then I had to drink another cup of Barium so I was very unhappy. Bleh. The unofficial results are that my throat/esophagus/stomach look pretty normal.
At least it was over fast and I got food afterwards, though. I still can kind of feel the heaviness of the Barium in my throat and stomach, though. I don't want to think about the fact that it's still in me.
Anyway, meme time. Stolen from

Kindergarten
What were you like: I loved cats a lot (and wanted one), and was much better at reading than the rest of my class.
Who was your teacher: Ms. Reese.
Who was your best friend: Crystal.
Who did you have a crush on: No one.
Something random: I spent an inordinate amount of time cutting animal pictures out of magazines at this age.
First Grade
What were you like: I don't remember too much of this year... I know I had weird friends. XD One of them would try to make me play ballet games with toy animals, and I didn't like that, and we would make up really creepy stories at school. Such as saying the people across the street from our classroom were murderers, and there were dead animals in their yard.
Who was your teacher: Mrs. Haggard.
Who was your best friend: Sarah...?
Who did you have a crush on: Sarah kept trying to tell me I had a crush on one of the guys in the class named Arthur, but I didn't at all, so...er...?
Something random: Before this school year, we had moved from Santa Rosa to Nevada City.
Second Grade
What were you like: Creative, ahead of the class. I loved my teacher's Irish Wolfhound, who she brought to school a lot. My friends and I played a lot of animal games, where we would pretend to be animals preparing to hibernate and such. I started writing stories about my plushies Wolfy and Foxy (great names, I know), and our class made plays out of some of them. The last year I ever wore pants. XD
Who was your teacher: Ms. Balentine.
Who was your best friend: I don't remember clearly. Sarah or Jamie, maybe.
Who did you have a crush on: No one.
Something random: I was in a play where I had to pretend to be rice boiling, of all things. O_o; I also nearly fainted from heat exhaustion once.
Third Grade
What were you like: Animal-obsessed as ever. I liked going behind my classroom and going out on the field at recess to catch frogs. I would rescue them from the little boys who liked pulling their legs off by catching them, finding bottles in the trash, hiding them in my desk, and smuggling them to a pond where I could let them go safely. I was teacher's pet and really loved reading. Also, I think this was the year I was obsessed with beanie babies? Until Pokémon came along, that is.
Who was your teacher: Darn it, I can't remember her name all the sudden. I remember what she looked like, though. And she had a pet hedgehog at one point.
Who was your best friend: Megan, I think. I might have befriended Monica and Ariel at this point, but I can't remember.
Who did you have a crush on: No one.
Something random: Our teacher used to put on classical music while we did math homework, and I'd nearly fall asleep. I hated math. Also, we had a garden our class would take care of.
Fourth Grade
What were you like: Obsessed with animals, mostly lizards and frogs. Went through a period of bat obsession.
Who was your teacher: Mrs. Patterson.
Who was your best friend: Monica, Ariel, Chauncey, and Megan.
Who did you have a crush on: No one.
Something random: We went on this awesome field trip--Age of Sail--where we stayed on a sailboat overnight and pretended to be real sailors. I also got my first pet lizard--a green anole named June.
THIS WAS THE SUMMER I GOT INTO POKEMON
Fifth Grade
What were you like: Pokémon was out, and it began to envelope my life. I was slavishly addicted to my Red Version. Because my main group of friends was pretty "normal", I was rather secretive about it. It felt strangely thrilling to know more about it than almost anyone, but hardly anyone even knew I liked it. I still remember seeing my first Vulpix while I was playing Gameboy on the playground, and secretively trading Pokémon cards with some of the boys.
Who was your teacher: Mr. Darden, who was awesome because he was an animal/nature nut, too.
Who was your best friend: Monica, Ariel, Faith, Devon, Chauncey.
Who did you have a crush on: No one.
Something random: We raised salmon in this class and released them to the Yuba River, which was way cool. My class went on so many awesome field trips. Pokémon was just coming out at this point. None of my friends knew I was obsessed with it, though we used to tease Chauncey about her name sounding like Chansey.
Sixth Grade
What were you like: POKEMON, POKEMON, POKEMON
Who was your teacher: I started out in Seven Hills, which I HATED, so I switched to the Charter School--where I met my middle school friends. I miss them so much sometimes. My teacher at Charter was Linda (we called the teachers at the charter schools by their first names).
Who was your best friend: Louisa, Amy, Alisa, Alicia, and Natasha. Oh man, we had so much fun. This was like the best year of my life, or one of them anyway.
Who did you have a crush on: Ash from Pokémon. XDDDIt has yet to go away. XD
Something random: It was all about Pokémon this year, and it ROCKED. Pokémon the First Movie came out, our whole class would trade and battle Pokémon at recess, my friends and I discovered fanfiction and were mesmerized by it (we'd print it and read it at recess to each other), we made Pokémon board games, played "Pass the Pikachu", made "nests" in the grass for our Pokémon toys. I can't even tell you how much fun this was. It almost brings a tear to my eyes to remember. I even went to one of the Pokémon League tours in Sacramento and got a Mew. Also, I got my first chickens this year, and Louisa and I became best of friends.
Seventh Grade
What were you like: Pokédork, starting to learn a little tiny bit of Japanese, read a lot of fanfics, started watching other anime like Cowboy Bebop and Princess Mononoke.
What was your favorite class: We weren't split into classes, as we were at a charter school.
Who was your best friend: Same as above, but with the additions of Rosie, Dawn, and Aliza.
Who did you have a crush on: Same as above. XD Plus Spike from Cowboy Bebop.
Something random: The second generation of Pokémon coming out was the BIG DEAL earlier this year. My friends and I were still close, but Louisa had moved to another school, which was hard.
Eighth Grade
What were you like: I was getting into other anime at this point, though I was still Pokéobsessed as ever. (Apparently--seeing as I'm still obsessed here.)
What was your favorite class: Not split into classes still, due to Charter school.
Who was your best friend: Nicole, Louisa, Amy, Alisa, Dawn, Rosie.
Who did you have a crush on: See above. XD
Something random: This was a really tough year. I HATED my teacher. I'll still get a good rant in about her from time-to-time. She thought I was leading a dangerous CULT (WTF?!) with my friends as the members, which is a long story and caused a ton of drama between my friends and I. While we still mostly got along with my friends great, there were some...difficulties there. It's a long story. September 11 happened the day we were leaving on a trip to Yosemite, which was surreal, and...man, it was just a weird year. Towards the end of it, I met Nicole, though, and that helped. Getting her into Pokémon and anime was so much fun.
At least it was over fast and I got food afterwards, though. I still can kind of feel the heaviness of the Barium in my throat and stomach, though. I don't want to think about the fact that it's still in me.

Date: 2007-08-15 08:40 pm (UTC)And I went to one of those tour things! +_+ I got my Mew~ Which..got killed in a trade, but. ;_; I also won two little badges.. XDD They're like on a keychain, I still have them.
..People pulled the legs off frogs..? DD: That's horrible! It's awesome you tried to rescue them, though. ♥ I probably would've acted similarly. I've always been a complete animal freak. xB Any kind of animal abuse = NO.

Date: 2007-08-15 10:28 pm (UTC)My Mew from back then was deleted at some point. :(
I know, isn't it terrible? I probably saved about fifty frogs doing that, and I somehow managed to never get caught with frogs in my desk, either. 8D
