JTAF! :D

Wow, three days of no posts... That's a long time. O_o;

I think I just forgot on Friday. I don't remember Friday all that well. ._.; I was exhausted on Friday, however, and more emotional than I normally am. Most of my classes were parties and such anyway. After school, I spent most of the day scrambling around planning for JTAF. Mom almost cancelled our hotel room because KK couldn't come as we thought she was going to. I tried calling Zoe, Makayla, Roya, and various other people, but no one else could come either. However, I paid Mom $30 to make up for the lack of other people coming, so we kept the reservation.

JTAF was so much fun! ♥ I loved it. It was just Nicole and I, but it worked out great and it was just...so much fun! I'm not going to chronicle the whole thing in a long, complicated post or anything (mostly because the majority of the con was just shopping to begin with), but I'll write about it in summarized form.

We left at about 9 AM on Saturday (Nicole spent the night on Friday), listened to music the whole way there, got very minorly lost in San Francisco, and Mom dropped us off at noon near the Japantown mall while she checked in to the hotel. It was raining for almost the whole convention, which made me pity all the poor cosplayers running around in the rain. We once spotted Orochimaru with a bag on his (actually, her) head, and ended up travelling with some sopped Fullmetal Alchemist characters later. We actually knew both the Orochimaru and the FMA cosplayers from previous conventions (in fact, the FMA cosplayers rented Cody out last year), but that's not the point.

It took us a while to find registration--we had to ask a bunch of people before we could figure it out--but once we did, it only took about five or ten minutes to go through it. We knew the guy who was helping us register, which was cool. It was pretty darn chaotic, though, and Nicole accidentily got a Saturday badge even though she paid for a Weekend badge. Luckily, no one was inspecting closely enough, and she was fine.

For quite a while after that, Nicole and I just shopped away. We recognized a lot of the convention goers, and we even found Nicole's first husband Nathan again! Ahaha, it was funny. XD We did a lot of Christmas shopping, and I had all of mine done by the end of the day. I even got Hitchi a present! :)

After shopping in Japantown for a while, we decided to find the Dealer's Room, which was...easier said than done. We kept asking directions, but we still had to run around in the rain for quite a while before we actually found it. Eventually, with our group of friendly and wet FMA cosplayers, we managed just fine. The convention was really spread out, which made everything kind of difficult, but it was really fun anyway.

Um...I bought a lot of stuff. If I count the money Mom gave me, it was over $200 worth of stuff. This isn't nearly all of it, but I bought: A movie!Ed plushie, a SasuNaru clock (OMFG! I can't believe I found this! The picture is from one of my favorite doujinshi circles...and I have no idea how it got on a clock. But I love it!), a Fullmetal Alchemist art book, Japanese Loveless manga, a Japanese Naruto data book, some random Japanese Shounen Jump issues, lots of Pocky, Nicole bought me the Animatrix, a Samurai Champloo T-shirt, a Gravitation T-shirt, presents for Nicole, Cody, KK, and Hitchi, two Naruto shijitaki, a Minun keychain, and...lots of other stuff I can't remember. I left it all at my Dad's, so I know I'm leaving a bunch of it out. @_@

Nicole and I dropped by the viewing rooms a few times--we saw half of Blood: the Last Vampire, two episodes of Blood+, some of Advent Children (which I've seen about eight times now), and something really pretty, but I'm not sure what it was.

As we were heading back to the bookstore some time after that, we heard the sounds of Tank! playing, and discovered a band called Random Ninjas was performing it in front of the bookstore! After they finished Tank!, they started playing a medley of about ten or more different Naruto songs, while several of the band members had ninjas battles and did little skits to the music. They were really good--I definitely recommend going to see them if they’re at any conventions anyone here goes to. The crowd was being less enthusiastic than the band deserved, in my opinion. They were SO great!

Speaking of ninjas, we found some ninjas on top of a vending machine later in the convention. XD

Nicole and I really wanted to get some Print Club stickers of the two of us with a sparkly pink background and shoujo!poses, but we kept forgetting and/or not having enough money. ;_; Oh well--we’ll do it next time we go to Japantown, I suppose.

We went out to a sushi restaurant for dinner, and I had veggie sushi, miso soup, and salad with a really good dressing. It was wonderful! I love sushi. :D

After dinner, Nicole and I went to the viewing room in the hotel, just to see what was playing. It ended up being absolutely BRILLIANT. It was this live-action Japanese show about a loser otaku who was trying to ask out a girl he saved on a train, using the advice of all these weird friends he talks to online. XD I’m pretty sure it was called Densha Otoku, or Train Man. OMG--I loved it so much. You have no idea. I’ve never felt so cool--everyone seems cool in comparison with this poor guy, which makes him so easy to root for. XD It stopped at a total cliffhanger, too. T_T I’m downloading as much of the series as I can get ASAP.

When it ended, Nicole and I headed back to the hotel room, I took a shower, and we fell asleep pretty early.

I woke up at about 6 AM, but I didn’t want to wake up Mom and Nicole, so I just continued dozing until about 9 AM, when Cody called. He and I arranged to meet up under the tower at 11 AM (he was in San Francisco, too, but with his mom and sister), so Mom and I went shopping in the Dealer’s Room and the bookstore meanwhile while Nicole showered and such. Nicole and Cody both met us under the tower at 11 AM.

Basically, the rest of the trip was spent anime shopping with Cody. We only got to do this for so long, though, because Mom made us leave at 1:30 PM. So, we bought Pocky with our last remaining money, Cody walked us to the car and gave us a bunch of goodbye hugs, and we hit the road again. The ride back was pretty quiet--we pretty much just listened to music and such. Oh, and we stopped in Davis to visit my Grandma, too. We just talked with her for a little while, and she gave me $36 randomly, which was really sweet. :D So, I was broke from the convention for about one hour.

When we got home, KK called almost immediately, so when Dad picked Nicole and I up, he picked KK up from her house, too. We went and sat around at my Dad’s for a little while, and then all three of us went over to Nicole’s and spent the night, because Nicole’s house was empty and we could cause more chaos there as a result. XD

We watched Tank Girl at Nicole’s, which was so funny and great. I loved it. Then…we…uh…talked excessively, as per usual. I had the weirdest sleeping habits last night--I went and was somewhat sleeping from 12:50 AM to 3 AM, but then I woke up and KK and Nicole made hot dogs and we talked, and I went back to sleep at 4 AM, and then all three of us didn’t wake up until 2:30 PM. Yes, you heard me right. 2:30 PM. X.x

After showers and making quesadillas for ourselves, KK came to Dad’s house with me. We went over to Nate’s to retrieve Cody, but Cody was busy watching Fullmetal Alchemist, so we decided to leave him alone so he could continue that. Then we went and philosophized on the bridge for a while. We came to some really interesting conclusions about life in general. Mom picked us up at 7 PM, we went to dinner at Round Table, dropped KK off at home, and now here I am.

I’ve had to write this darn entry twice because Microsoft Word froze on me just as I finished it the first time, so I probably left out some rather important stuff. I suppose I can always go back and edit, though. This entry doesn’t do any of the weekend justice, but I’m too lazy to do the weekend justice once--much less twice. I hate re-typing entries.

JTAF was so much fun. I love anime conventions so much. ♥

Oh, Nicole's Kamui husband? And yaaaay, a present! ^^;;

Whoa...I downloaded the op for Blood+ in the last week... =o [/coincidence]

Whenever you mention Round Table, I think of the j-pop band. XD

Well, sounds like an awesome weekend! ^^; I <3 SanFran.

Yes, Nicole's Kamui husband Nathan. He's an interesting guy. XD He was also cosplaying Sasuke at this year's Fanime, and at JTAF...I'm not entirely sure what he was. ^^;

I think you'll like your gift. It's really cute. I don't think I'll be able to send it before Christmas because I want to burn as much Naruto as possible first (and maybe some Loveless if I can), but I'll send it as soon as I can. :D

I ♥ San Fran, too. :) It's my favorite city, hands down.

That's okay! If it gets to me by the second, then it can be a Hanukkah present. XD!
