Ah, today was nice... Because I spent all that time on that stupid essay yesterday, I've been much more relaxed and at ease than usual. No homework after the stress of knowing you should write an essay feels good.

It was a quirky, fun day.

When I went to the choir room before school (as I always do--to watch Chamber Choir), I was rewarded with a performance of the fruitcake song, which is a song Nicole and I became familiar with last year...I think. Anyway, it never ceases to leave us both in hysterics. 'Twas beautiful. A nice start to the day. ^_^

In my TA art period, I...er...watched AMVs on my DVD player (remarkably, I got away with this) and worked on the Naruto pen sketch I started while Mom was test-driving a Subaru Outback yesterday. It turned out kinda cute... I think I'm getting more used to drawing Naruto, almost to the point where he's become semi-easy. Well...sometimes, at least. Sasuke never was that hard, in my opinion, although I'd like to work out of that "Sasuke Formula" I've gotten myself into. As in, I have a ritual for every time I draw Sasuke, and I need to break out of that in order to get better at him.

Second period, Econ... Test. It was easy, as all of Bothun's tests are. :P Then... I read Fanfiction Anbu for the rest of the period. I'm obsessed. That community is *addictive*, in a sadistic way. A new winner was posted today about Sakura and her twin sister Ai coming from outer space and crashing in Konoha in their spaceship. WTF. Go there now. If I could figure out how to do the link-thingy for communities, I would do it. It's ff_anbu. Teh lovely. :D

Third period... Twelve laps. Mr. Humphers, you're a sick man. x_X I did run them all, though, just to get 'em over with. :P I think I was one of the few people who ran the whole way. We played three basketball games today instead of two. Lost all of them, needless to say. I'm so incredibly sick of basketball, and--unfortunately--Mr. Humphers just imformed us today we still have a week of basketball to go before we can switch to another unit. ._.;

Oh well. Lunch was fun. I don't remember much of what happened... Got glomped by Cody, complained/angsted/moaned about the Naruto dub, babbled in general. Talked about Yaoi-Con. I'm determined to go next year. It's actually ON Makayla's 18th birthday this year, so she's talking about maybe going, but she would have to resolve how to get her ID card early, so it probably won't work out.

I was happy in Art, because I got to the CD player first, and thus we listened to the Arjuna OST the entire period. ♥ No one turned it off, no one complained, and everyone generally seemed to like it. One random girl liked it so much, she requested that I burn it for her (which I did). Yay, more Yoko Kanno fans! My self-portrait (which consists of nothing but one of my eyes, half of my nose, half of my mouth, and some of my hair) looks paranoid. XD Kathryn says it looks like my eye, though, which is a good sign. Her self-portrait looked a little homidical for a while, but by now that has been resolved. XD

Speaking of art, we had a funny conversation in art yesterday.

Me: "I feel...like becoming a musk ox. If I decide to become a musk ox, will you guys support me?"
Friends: "Yeah, sure! We'll support you."
Me: "Cool! Will you help me get back to the tundra?"
Friends: "Well, we don't have driver's licenses, but we'll do what we can."
Kathryn: "Y'know, I could probably drive once I get my license, if Makayla keeps an eye on you and feeds you and stuff..."
Me: *Goes on about how funny the word 'tundra' is*

It's interesting to note that I really was in so weird of a mood, that honestly becoming a musk ox felt like the solution. I was sleep-deprived--gimme a break! Very...random. Sorry, KK--I mean arbitrary. XD (In-joke.)

In English...we read sonnets and other stuff. Boring. Doodled horses and unicorns and rabbits and cats and such most of the time. :P

I had a lot of fun in seventh period, accompanying Cody and KK (Selah had mysteriously vanished...?) to Anatomy. It was a test day for them, meaning everyone was busy turning in their worksheets. So...because I'm silly, and because I had nothing else to do while Cody and KK were taking the test, I wrote an excuse for Mr. Larsen as to why I couldn't turn in my worksheets. Keep in mind I'm not in this class--I took it last year--so obviously, I don't need to turn anything in. Written in 5-10 minutes. Cracked up KK, Cody, and Mr. Larsen, respectively.

Dear Mr. Larsen--

I tried. Valiantly. I did everything I could to get those worksheets in... Blood, sweat, tears, money, my soul... They were all lost in the valiant attempt to turn those worksheets in to you. You see, it all started on the night I finished those worksheets. I had been up all night. I was beginning to have hallucinations from lack of sleep. I told them not to let the ostrich in the house. But, well, what can I say? My little brother let it in anyway. There was a flailing, and some strange warking sounds. My life flashed before my eyes. I leapt on to my homework to protect it, but the ostrich's violence knew no bounds. The next thing I remember is lying on the floor--watching in horror as the ostrich devoured the worksheets. I screamed to try and distract it, but it paid me no heed.

Desperate, I put a dog leash on the ostrich and dragged it to the nearest veterinary hospital. They told me it would be $2,323.58 to retrieve the papers from the pit of the ostrich's stomach, which was clearly money I did not have. So, in a last-ditch attempt, I held a fundraiser involving girl scout cookies and the sale of illegal weaponry in order to get that homework back. Miraculously, a Swahili aristocrat who happened to be a big fan of girl scout cookies came along just then, donating just enough money to pay for the surgery.

I thanked him profusely and ran with the money, hurriedly pushing it on to the counter at the veterinary office. I could only hope it wasn't too late.

So, the surgery took around two hours. I sat in the waiting room for those two hours, just hoping beyond hope that my homework would be all right.

And eventually, the doctor came out with a smile. He handed me the ostrich's leash and the thankfully-intact homework. It was a little hard to read because of the ostrich's stomach fluids, and it didn't exactly smell the best, but it was safe and that was all that mattered.

Well, I was on my way to this class about five minutes ago, and what do you think happened? Yes, the aliens came. I was walking along innocently, minding my own business, when suddenly a ray of polka-dotted light came down from the heavens and--involuntarily, of course--the homework floated out of my hands and into their spacecraft. The spacecraft then disappeared in a blink of light. I tried everything to contact them: dental records, 411, the phonebook, and I even tried doing a search on Google. However, it was nowhere to be found.

Unfortunately, the passing period bell was about to ring, so I went to class with great reluctance and the heavy feeling of guilt in my stomach.

So that's why it isn't here. I'm working on it. In fact, once this period ends, I'm joining the branch of NASA dedicated to contacting other intelligent life forms in the galaxy. Hopefully we'll be able to get it back by the end of the week. Wish me luck!

Sincerely,
Kristin Rodriguez

That was fun. It could've been much, much better, but under the circumstances it turned out just fine. ^^;; Feel free to steal it and use it as an excuse--I'm sure teachers'll get a kick out of it, if nothing else. XD I'll even write other ones if you commission me to. Just ask!

Anime Club also went quite well. Get this--I got everyone in the club to sing "Happy Birthday" to Kakashi. XD I guess that's my birthday present to him, which I think is pretty awesome. It was hysterical. The rest of the time, I taught a very small amount of Japanese, and we watched some AMVs. Because our supervisor was out of the room, I even got away with showing such classics like AMV Hell and Sunshine, Lollipops, and rrrRRRRrrr. XD Obviously not school-appropriate, but... *Shrug* It's not like anyone's going to punish me for it. So, yeah. 'Twas a great success, even without Zoe and her whistle to restore order. Started my burning business up again, too. Oh, and got Ciera very interested in watching more of Naruto by showing her Whisper of the Beast. Yay!

Went home with Mom, and basically was hanging out with Lily and the chickens for a long time. I gave Lily my ramen broth, and it was funny watching her lap it up. It was almost a cautious sort of lapping, and she got this funny look on her face. XD The chickens were wonderful to watch, as usual, and, also as usual, my "casual visit" to the coop ended up lasting about an hour. They're that fascinating to me.

I finally managed to catch that new hen Rusty brought up from San Francisco, and I LOVE HER. She's really cute--she's got a nice head and nice conformation, and these beautiful, patterned brown speckles on her back. I caught her and brought her up to the house, and was sitting with her on the couch and petting her. She's really soft. ^-^ I named her--get this--Anbu the Great. Yes, I have a chicken named Anbu the Great. This is not the weirdest name I have given a chicken, trust me. :P I also have chickens named The Salula, The Other One, The Other Other One, Ilikeyou (pronounced "Oiloikayuu", if you can say that), and Pineapple. To name a few.

Unfortunately, Rusty also said he's getting rid of Rustina (as in, finding her a new home). ;_; She's his chicken, so it's his choice, but I like her. She's sick, though--she's got something weird where it seems like the food in her gullet isn't digesting, and...I don't know. It's too bad, though, because Rustina's a nice bird. I hope no one else catches whatever it is she has.

Also...well, we went to Staples and I got two storage tubs to keep my anime in, and I talked on the phone with KK for at least an hour, if not more. That's about it.

I wanted to watch Naruto 150-151 tonight, but I never got a chance. T_T Not that it really matters--they're just annoying filler anyway, but at least I can squeal at my love of the characters. Especially seeing as I'm rather fond of the Hinata/Kiba/Shino team. :) Of course, who in Naruto am I *NOT* fond of? I love just about everyone in the whole series. x.x And filler is good for squeeing at Naruto moments. 'Cause Naruto is just adorable. As is Hinata, for that matter. XD

It's past my bedtime now, so I'd better make my leave.

I did not know you were so eloquent in descriptive excuses, Kristin. But it was VERY amusing. xD
