pacificpikachuNot much going on lately! I slept a whole lot yesterday, probably catching up from the other day when I barely slept, so today I've been feeling decent.
I can feel the beginnings of fall in the air, which makes me happy! Fall is my favorite season, then spring. Summer is my least favorite season without a doubt, so I'm ready for it to be over.
The figs are ripe in the backyard now, so I've been eating them. They're delicious! It's probably blackberry season, too, come to think of it, so I should go blackberry picking, too.
Oh, I didn't post about it, but sometimes I think my luck is strange. I swear I wish for weird things and sometimes then have those weird wishes granted, sometimes even almost immediately. I've been wanting a peacock for a while--but a fairly people-friendly one, to match with my peahen--but of course I'd rather rescue someone's unwanted peacock than buy a young peafowl from someone intentionally breeding them. I was going to post a Craigslist ad to see if anyone has an unwanted peacock.
I was thinking how great it would be to find a rescue baby/young peacock so I could get him used to people, but figured that was highly unlikely.
Well, before I could even post an ad, a lady called my work asking if someone will take five young peafowl. She has a resident peahen (who showed up out of nowhere) who hatched them in the bushes. She's been shutting mama and her babies in the garage for the last few weeks at night to protect them from raccoons, but she will be going away next month and needs a home for them by then.
I'm not going to keep them all--the others will go to a friend of mine with property who was looking for some--but this gives me the perfect opportunity to raise a peacock so he will be friendly like Chelsea. Funny how things work out like that! I do periodically get peafowl calls, but usually they're adult peafowl and the people can't even catch them to begin with (therefore I can't do anything).
I've become the county's resident peafowl advisor, LOL. Wildlife rehab doesn't take them, my work doesn't take them, so that leaves me. I actually currently have a cage loaned out to a guy who was trying to catch an injured peacock for me, but I haven't heard back from him in weeks, so I think it's time to call back about the cage. If he can't catch him in weeks with my perfect cage for catching a peacock, I don't think it's going to happen.
Basically just drawing and hanging around lately, that's about it. Still not entirely internet active again, but I'm slowly getting there. Upgrading to even faster internet tomorrow, so that will be great! My connection isn't slow to begin with, but I'm not going to complain about even faster internet by any means.
