pacificpikachuAnd, miraculously, after sleeping on and off nearly all day yesterday, I feel quite a bit better! Not amazing, but good. Good enough that I took Honey for a walk and read part of a book, and I actually feel somewhat alert. I don't know if it's because I've been eating more, or all that sleep, or what, but I just hope it stays with me for as long as possible.
I started reading Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott. It's a book on writing, and while I've only read sixty-three pages so far, I can already say I adore it! It's wonderfully witty and well-written and--can you guess why I stopped reading it? Because I want to go open up some Scrivener documents and write! That's high praise by itself. If you write at all, or aspire to, I certainly recommend it. It is informal and fresh and hilarious and helpful.
Now the love triangle is turning into a love...tangle? No one likes each other back, ahhh. I guess I was right in comparing it to Honey & Clover! Anyway, this isn't a bad thing, just means lots of potential for angst. I told you a sensed a dark(-ish) vibe? I still do.
I liked the scenes of Sentaro's past, and Kaoru crying because he was moved by it. I enjoy their friendship/dynamic a lot, how they're so different and learn from each other as a result. There has already been a great deal of character growth in such a short time. I like how, because the audience learned about Sentaro's past, we can then understand why he gets so upset at the racist comment by the American in the pub.
I'm still incredibly impressed at how emotionally involved I find myself in this series with only four episodes out. It usually takes me around six episodes to really warm up to a series, though I guess in this case that would be already halfway through the series (...sob).
Can't wait to see more!
