Have some baby chickens!
Sep. 30th, 2010 11:06 pmThe whole chick gang! Three are Charming's, three are from the incubator, and one is the mystery bantam chick I got the other day from rehabbing. Poor black and white chick is still sleepy from hatching I think. Hopefully it'll be all right.

The three youngest chicks from the incubator:

Bottle cap and pen for size reference. They are TINY!
Mystery bantam chick, who is maybe a cochin or cochin mix? It has fuzzy feet and blue feathers coming in. :) It looks big compared to the serama chicks, but...er...that's not saying much. It's still teeny-tiny!

This one is my favorite, it has the most GORGEOUS coloring! It's chocolate-colored with a white ring around its neck and black and blue on its back. So pretty! It's very energetic, too, haha, it was nearly impossible to take pictures of it!

Also, book I found at Barnes and Noble the other day. Worst title ever?

There were no pips by this evening so I opened up the remainder of the eggs. Unsurprisingly, all dead. I'm not sure why--the chicks looked fine, hadn't internally pipped either, though, and none of them had absorbed their yolk fully though some were close. Odd, but the mail was rough on these eggs so that's just how things go. Oh well--I am thankful for the three chicks I got!
