We brought Tilly up to Truckee to meet her foster mom and give her back to her today. I would have been more sad about it, but Erin (her foster mom) decided to keep her instead of trying to find her a new home, so instead of feeling sad about it I'm glad for Tilly. I know that she will be happy and comfortable at Erin's house where there are no tall guys to scare her, and there's lots of space to run and play and plenty of love and care. Hooray for Tilly! I'm so happy for her, even though I miss her. Basically, she just came here and spent a week as if she was away at a fun camp. She got to play with Hana, go to the dog park, play a whole bunch, and get lots of love. Even though it didn't work as a permanant home, I don't regret having her for the week we did one bit. She's a fantastic dog. ♥
And now the dog-hunt resumes. I know--somewhere out there right now--our dog is waiting for us in a lonely shelter cage, or in a home where they aren't treated well, or in a foster home waiting for the right person. Sammy is still a possibility, but we're keeping looking for a bit longer before inquiring about him again. The Northern California Border Collie Rescue has a nine-week-old border collie pup in our area code... FFF DON'T TEMPT ME. Nah, I don't think we have time for a little puppyI can't help but be a TINY bit tempted, though. Plus, puppies get homes pretty much immediately. I want to save a dog that might have a harder time finding a home. I also talked to mom and we're both kind of open to dogs that aren't border collies/border collie mixes, but only if the right dog came up. We're mostly looking for a border collie or border collie mix, though.
Hahaha, my f-list has EXPLODED with FMA news and excitement and embedded Youtube videos of the OP. I can't download the episode yet because I need to get my laptop's power cord fixed first, but MAN IS THE OP PRETTY! *____*
When I returned from Truckee, I was surprised to find that most of the chickens, both ducks, and all three guinea fowl escaped from the coop! Good thing they're coop-bound (as in, they stay next to the coop). It was quite the adventure catching them all. Most of the chickens were easy, but my rooster Yamikarasu and Cornelius the male guinea fowl were a pain. Especially Cornelius. >___> I had to "build" a chute leading into the coop out of a bucket and a bunch of wood scraps and stuff in order to get him to go in, but even then I spent a good half-hour at least chasing him around the coop. After that I was tired and took a four-hour nap.
Oh, and the songbird class yesterday was fantastic! Everyone was so optimstic and energetic, there were some new people who seemed very nice and interested, and the class itself went without a single problem! When I was doing my segment of the class I thought I sounded pretty stupid, but then afterwards everyone kept telling me how eloquent I was so...I guess it went better than I thought? A bunch of people kept telling me that they could really see me being a vet, so that made me happy. My brother came along too and he actually ended up enjoying the class. I stayed a bit later examining dead birds (got to look over a dead common poorwill--so cool!) and talking to fellow rehabbers. It was a fantastic class and made me look forward to baby bird season, which is coming up REALLY fast. :D
I REALLY NEED TO GO GET FOAM FOR MY UMBREON COSTUME. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow because we're going down to Davis to see my aunt, who is flying in from South Dakota, and we're doing a bit of shopping before she arrives. I want to start the head ASAP, and I need to print some reference pictures and do some concept sketches. So excited for this costume!
Also, must watch more anime soon once my computer is back up and running, and work on Platinum.
LOL Hana is being crazy. She keeps rolling in the blankets and then looking at me with this insane expression on her face, digging in the covers, going under the bed with her back feet poking out, and staring at me really intently. I think this is her weird border collie of expressing that she is rather bored as a result of Tilly not being here to play with any more. We'll find you a friend soon, Hana. :(
