ORZ, I started writing/was going to post this way earlier (like at noon) but now it's past 4 AM on Christmas day. LOL go figure. Watched Pokémon already, and lost the group auction. ;___;

Happy Holidays, f-list! ♥

It's ridiculous, but I'm never sure whether to put or say "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas." I'm a staunch agnostic, but I do celebrate "Christmas" in the most secular way possible, so I don't know. I put Happy Holidays to encompass the largest amount of people as possible, haha.

Regardless, I hope you all travel safely, have a good, drama-free time with your families, get some great presents, and eat lots of tasty food. I've gotten cards from a few of you--thanks so much! :D I've been individually thanking you so I won't list you guys, but I really appreciate it. ♥

I've been so bad about writing entries/commenting lately. D: Sorry everyone!

Anyway, Christmas eve tonight (obviously) but seeing as we went down to Davis early this year because my mom is working tonight, I'm basically just hanging around my dad's house doing whatever. My plans for tonight are: Bid on [livejournal.com profile] pkmncollectors group auction and watch the new Pokémon episode live on Japanese TV like last week in [livejournal.com profile] pkmncollectors chat. Hmmm, I'm noticing a trend here.

Christmas in Davis went nicely! I had fun talking to my aunt and grandma about animals, watching my brother and cousin Todd shoot nazi zombies, and all was well. I got money, a nice shirt with birds on it, and, best of all, a veterinary manual! I'm going to read it on a regular basis.

Tomorrow we go down to Petaluma to celebrate with my dad's side of the family. This means I can just hang around talking to my cousin Jordan about Gurren Lagann and internet memes, avoid small children as much as possible, burn things at dinner in the candles (last year it was chips) and hide them from my aunt Nancy (this is a tradition, ROFL), and so on. I look forward to the long drive, which will be filled with Yoko Kanno music no doubt. ♥

Other than that, uhhh, have some memes!

[[Once you’ve been tagged, you have to write a note with 16 random things, shortcomings, facts, habits or goals about you. At the end choose 16 people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them. You have to tag the person who tagged you.]]

Additionally, [livejournal.com profile] hitchi challenged me to name sixteen facts she doesn't know about me, which ought to be difficult because we've known each other for quite a few years now. Hmmm. I'll try, but I really don't think I'm going to be able to do it. XD

1. I do not like coffee at all in any form. Even a sip of mocha that supposedly "hardly tastes like coffee" grosses me out.

2. I often feel somewhat awkward artistically because when it comes down to it, I mostly want to draw and write about animals, but I am not a furry and I don't care for anthros. So I kind of feel like I don't fit in anywhere except maybe Pokémon fandom, haha. I mean, I do write a fair amount about people and I draw people as well, but I just prefer animals when drawing and writing really.

3. I often become obsessed with the "atmosphere" of my fandoms, occasionally even more so than any other aspect of the series. The setting, the particular feeling that the series gives off. It's hard to describe.

4. I truly and honestly believe that animals and humans have exactly the same right to live and not suffer, and that an animal life and a human life are worth the same. I spend a lot of time thinking about this and do my best to live in such a way that honors this. As a result, however, I am deeply pained by the cruelty of humanity.

5. In real life, I have a lot of weird things that I often bring up in conversations for no apparent reason. Usually just in the presence of my family, but sometimes with friends as well. One of these is The Salula (one of my pet chickens, who I decided is a god when I was around twelve) and another is my pheasant Julia, who I call "the feeeezent." These mentions are so frequent and arbitrary that no one in my immediate family cares or notices really.

6. I am fixated on getting sterilized to the point where the thought of getting sterilized is greatly exciting to me.

7. I chew and pick at the skin on my fingers all the time, so my hands are a mess all the time. .___.

8. I am a total poultry geek. Chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, pheasants, turkeys, quail, anything like that is instantly interesting to me. I've raised all of the above at least once, though not all of them were domestic variants of said birds. I know a lot about different chicken breeds (especially bantams, which are my favorites) and I actually keep a list of every chicken breed I want to raise in my lifetime. I also really, really love corvids--birds like crows, jays, magpies, and so on.

9. I watch a lot of AMVs, and I've been watching them since I was eleven or so, so I'm kind of an AMV snob/connoisseur now. But there's just about nothing I love more than a great AMV. :D

10. I am generally a pretty upbeat person, but my writing is, almost without exception, quite depressing. Or at least how it ends is depressing. I keep trying not to kill my characters at the end of all my stories, but...somehow I always do. ;__;

11. I occasionally get these weird, completely asexual infatuations with female characters. It's not like "OH SHE'S SO PRETTY" or even "I WISH I COULD BE HER FRIEND" or "I WISH I WAS LIKE HER" but just like...random fascination with and fangirling of the character. Said characters seem to occur at random (there's no general theme between them all or anything), though they are all amazing characters to their credit. It seems like it would be way more straightforward and easy to describe if it was sexual attraction or just admiring/wanting to be like the character, but it isn't so I don't know how to describe it exactly. XD

12. I think I feel good music, movies, books, or storytelling of any kind very strongly, though I only rarely cry in anything. When I'm really caught up in something, though, I'll sometimes have moments where I'm literally euphoric. I guess this is why people take drugs, but for me some amazing storytelling or music does the trick just fine. Or even sometimes just my own imagination, telling me stories.

13. I am fascinated by serial killers. The younger, more twisted, less justified, and more bizarre they are, the more interested I am in them. I'll sometimes spend hours and hours reading stories about serial killers on CrimeLibrary.com, and I watch a lot of forensics shows. I'm also extremely fascinated by cults and read/watch about them frequently.

14. I have a bad sense of smell. It's not nonexistent or anything, but my ability to smell isn't nearly as good as most people I know.

15. I love making lists and do so frequently all over everything. Not all of these lists even serve any purpose.

16. I tend to give my pets extremely strange nicknames. Princess is "Pinedwarphidulator" ( or "Phid"), for instance. When Lily was alive, she was "Bubba Schnauze." CC is "CC Keetin" or "The Bite" (even though she doesn't bite). Hana is "Hana-banana" although it doesn't really rhyme (she is Japanese pronounced Hana not Hannah), Tia is "Tia-bone" (though that one makes sense because her name when we got her was T-bone), the cockatiels are "pretty birds" but this has been shortened over time to "Pii-ii birds" or "Pii birds", and Oliver and Zephyr are Mr. Oliver and Mr. Zephyr, the guinea pigs are the GPs, the guinea fowl are the G-fowl, the chickens are the siikins (though most of them have individual nicknames as well), the pheasant is the feeezent as mentioned above... And so on.

A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blog and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question.

B) Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.

Make a list of things you can see without getting up:
My laptop, my bed (I'm sitting on it), my Pokémon blanket, my hairbrush, my various anime posters, anime shelf, bookshelf filled with Pokémon toys, Pokémon plush and figures on every single surface, other anime/miscellaneous plush, my TV, DVD player, VCR, stereo, phone, nightstand with light and clock, pieces of paper, remote control, computer chair with coat on it, computer speakers, dresser, books, uhhhh...way more stuff than I could name. @__@ My room is very crowded.

How do you style your hair?
I brush it. That's about it.

What are you wearing now?
Black FLCL shirt, blue shorts, white socks.

Do you have some sort of secret superpower?
Memorizing Japanese songs! And doing a weird finger joint dance with my double-jointed fingers.

What's the last thing you read/are currently reading?
I...just started reading something, but I can't remember for the life of me what it is at the moment. @___@

Do you nap a lot?
Not really. I try not to, because once I start napping I don't stop and I'll sleep for seven or eight hours.

Who was the last person you hugged?
Daniell/[livejournal.com profile] lakilarian, I believe?

What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
Pokémon! (I'm never not into Pokémon, though, haha.) And Mysterious Ways. I always have a ton of side obsessions, though. Basically if you bring something up that I love I'll gush about it regardless of what I'm obsessing on at any given moment. I have so much anime to watch--I really need to start doing that.

What was the last thing you ate today?
Ate burritos for dinner!

What was the last crazy impulse you acted on?
Buying a 32" Pikachu plush when I already have a ton of huge Pokémon plush on the way and I don't even have room for the plush that are already in my room as it is?

What websites do you always visit when you go online?
LiveJournal, Ebay, Yahoo! Japan, deviantART, Facebook, Anime News Network. StumbleUpon, though it's not a website specifically...

Last thing you bought:
I haven't paid for them yet, but a custom shiny Ninetales plush and a big Pikachu pillow and 1/1 scale Meowth.

What are you listening to right now?
Tell Me What the Rain Knows by Maaya Sakamoto from Wolf's Rain OST 2. Oh, wait, it just switched to a song from Arjuna that wasn't on either soundtrack and was ripped by me.

What's the last song that got stuck in your head?
Sousei no Aquarion theme. AS ALWAYS. MOST ADDICTIVE SONG EVER.

What kind of MP3 player do you have, and why, and if you don't have one why not?
I don't have an mp3 player because I haven't gotten around to getting one yet. And I need a HUGE one to fit all the music I want on it (like 200+ GB), so I'm not sure when I'll be able to afford one.

What is your favourite weather, and why?
Oh man, I love many types of weather as long as it's not hot. If I could be in any sort of weather, though, it would be thunderstorms. I love thunderstorms.

How are you?
Okay. Lost the group auction we were bidding on, but...oh well. :(

Is that it?
Looking forward to going down to the bay area for Christmas tomorrow!

If you are an artist with art on your comp, what is the most recent thing you've scanned in?
I...haven't scanned anything in a long time. D: Ummmm... I think it was this?

Photobucket

or

Photobucket

And they technically weren't scanned--I just took pictures of them. ^^;
