The first part of today was kind of... :/

I woke up at 7 AM--which is around four hours earlier than I normally wake up--so mom could pick me up after work and take me and the three jays down to Marysville to go with a rehabber named Kim. After preparing everything for them to leave, I looked in the scrub jay's mouth and picked him up and he's lost a ton of weight, is very thin, and has cheesy-looking growths in his mouth. This means it is most likely trichomoniasis, which is bad news. They're on a drug for trich right now, but I don't know if that'll be enough to save them. I gave them their meds and I'm hoping, but...well, we'll see. That's all we can do.

So after making this somewhat grim discovery, poor Kim calls me in tears and tells me she has to put her dog down today unexpectedly. Mom and I go home for a while so I can feed the chickens and walk the dogs and so on, and when we leave again I called Kim and she found an experienced vet tech/rehabber neighbor to take over the birds for a few days while she copes with her loss. Poor Kim... I know how hard it is to lose a dog.

I talked to the other rehabber, Mona, who seems very sweet, accommodating, helpful, and knowledgeable. I feel confident that the birds will have the best shot at living in her hands. Thankfully the rest of the transfer went well. We met at a lake, I gave her some further instructions on them, and off they went. Now I realize I should've said goodbye to them because they could die (especially the scrub jay) before I get back, but...well. It's okay.

Next we went to Wal-Mart. I hate it there, but I did manage to find a new pair of shorts and some slightly cheaper packaging tape. (As a sidenote, I feel like a REAL INTERNET BUSINESS when I buy packaging supplies. I bought a one hundred pack of bubble wrappers a while back and have used a surprising amount of them! XD) I swear, though--just walking in Wal-Mart saps away some of my life energy or something. D: The lighting, the crying babies, the sheer size of it... I always feel vaguely sick and disgusted and unwell in there for some reason. I was only in there for around twenty minutes, though, thankfully.

We went home after that, and after nearly falling asleep during a show of amazing animal videos I went back to bed for about two or three hours.

The rest of the day I spent on the internet, playing with Diamond and Pearl the guinea fowl (I WILL MISS THEM WHILE I'M GONE! D:) in the kitchen, watching a random show on dragons, and I guess that's about it.

OH! But I did preorder these gorgeous plush:

The PRETTY standing ones, not the lying-down ones. Though I'll be buying the lying-down ones as well when they come out. :D The pre-order cost was just too much on the lying-down ones, though. TOMY plush (which is what the standing ones are) are my favorite types of plush, hands-down.

They won't come until October, but it'll be exciting when they do. Now if only they'd make an Umbreon... ♥ Ah, I can dream. Leafeon is my second favorite Eeveelution after Umbreon, though, so I'm quite thrilled!

I need to get packing! We're leaving for Lake Tahoe tomorrow evening. :3 I'll probably post before then, however.
