Beware the Ides of March

Thank you so much to everyone who wished me happy birthday! ♥ It made me feel quite loved. :D
That said, my birthday went quite well. I had Nicole, Nolan, Aubrey, Makayla, Steven, Shannon, and Daniell over, and we watched AMVs/Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei/all of FLCL for almost the entire day and had a grand time. I was amazed by how well it went, especially because the night before I had been up almost all night because I think I had an allergic reaction to my cold medicine. Therefore, my arms and legs were tingling and my throat felt tight and I couldn't sleep from about 3 AM to 6 AM or so, and I had gone to bed at 1 AM. Still, I felt just fine yesterday and, while it would have been nice to do something more exciting or unique, we laughed a lot and talked and it was a blast.
I think my cold is finally going away! I only feel the slightest bit congested today, and I expect to be back to 100% before The Pillows concert. Speaking of the concert (which is going to be EPIC without a doubt), I need to call Nicole and Aubrey tomorrow so we can get together and make glow-in-the-dark, dorky, possibly sparkly Pillows-loving shirts. >D
Today I wanted to go to the cosplay picnic in San Francisco, but alas--it is three hours away, and dad didn't want to make such a large drive today. :( Instead, I talked Dad into going down to Costco to get a new camera. Our old one is incredibly stupid and annoying, and we discovered a few years ago that Costco will take returns on old cameras for their full retail price as long as you still have the receipt and everything that came with the camera originally. The camera we traded in was FOUR YEARS OLD, and we still got over $250 back on it--meaning our new camera is essentially free!
The new camera is a Canon Powershot SX100. From the reviews I've read, it seems to be a great camera, so I have high hopes for it. Let's hope it lives up to the expectations and surpasses the legacy of the terrible old Nikon Coolpix. I definitely need a good camera for cosplay/conventions/pet and rehab bird pictures/wildlife photography/selling things on the internet. Granted, it isn't just my camera, but I'll definitely be using it a good chunk of the time.
It's been weird weather lately--suddenly hailing and snowing at random, and the clouds were incredibly dramatic today. Now it's back to being freezing cold when it was warm and springlike about a week ago. Ah, go figure. NorCal weather is so bipolar.
Um, not much else to say, I suppose. I need to get working on my Densuke and Boota costumes soon! D: I can't believe how fast Fanime is coming up.
