pacificpikachu: (Looking to the Sky)
I found Sheska, one of my guinea pigs, dead in her cage yesterday. :( I've suspected for quite a while that she wouldn't live that long, as she had chronic bloat no matter what diet she was on and even when given Simethicone (I suspect she could have been inbred, as she came from a home situation with a lot of accidental guinea pig pregnancies), but regardless, it's quite sad. I hope she didn't suffer. She was a sweet and pretty guinea pig and a good mother to her babies, and I'll miss her. Rest in peace, Sheska.

The cage seems so empty with just Hawkeye in it... Hawkeye seems really lonely already, especially seeing as she's never been without other guinea pigs since the day she was born. Thankfully, I already found her a new guinea pig companion via Craigslist, and the new guinea friend arrives tomorrow. To help combat her loneliness a little, I took her out for a bit yesterday to let her eat grass and enjoy the nice weather, brushed her with the Furminator (surprisingly, she seemed to enjoy being brushed), and clipped her toenails.

Makayla and I had such a fun day on Friday! We got Hawaiian ice in front of Safeway, went down to Roseville to go to Barnes & Noble and eat some delicious food, and came back and started looking for scenes for our AMV in the first twenty-one episodes of Dennou Coil. Yes, we have decided to do a Dennou Coil AMV to Headlock by Imogen Heap, and we hope to enter it in the Fanime 2010 AMV Contest if it turns out any good! I think it will. :D We have lots of months to work on it, and we've got a solid concept and idea of how we're going to put it together. We started re-watching Dennou Coil last night with Steven because Steven hasn't seen it all yet, and that was wonderful. I always forget just how much I adore that series until I watch it again. Ahhh, it's so amazing! It makes me incredibly happy.

Saturday was a doggie day! The Wag 'N Walk and Bark-B-Que was great! [livejournal.com profile] chosen_entity and her dog Shippou, and Hooch, Hana, Honey, my mom, and I mostly traveled together and had a grand time. We got so many freebies and the dogs all got lots of treats, and overall it was just a great way to spend a Saturday. Nice weather, lots of adorable and happy dogs, nice vendors, and so on. It was wonderful! I hope they do another one sometime soon-ish. :D There's a picture of the dog walk on the front page of the Union today, and you can see me, Hooch, and Honey walking along in the background, haha. The same day, I also took the dogs to the dog park for quite a while, so it really was just a day filled with dog-related activities.

Today, Makayla and I went up to the Discovery Trail with Honey and Hooch and went for a walk. It was a beautiful day in a beautiful place, and to my great joy we discovered that down by the stream there were tons and tons of adorable little Pacific Tree-Frogs in various colors! There were bright green ones, dark green ones, light and dark brown ones (with and without spots), gray ones, and ones that were a combination of colors. We spent a good half-hour looking for frogs and enjoying them. After our nice hike, we went to try to find this tree Makayla has had dreams about at a camp nearby (Makayla went there as a child. As did I, actually, and had some strange paranormal experiences there), but we couldn't get into the camp because it said only registered guests were allowed. :( On the way, though, we found these amazing plants with HUGE leaves, and at one point there were clustered near and around a waterfall, and they were so beautiful we just had to stop and take pictures. I'll post those when I upload them!

Things have been busy, as you can see. Next weekend looks to be busy with animal charity stuff as well, including helping with the Wildlife Rehab and Release yard sale, and possibly going to "Woofstock" down in Rocklin. 8D
