Aug. 21st, 2009 12:16 amI am now the proud owner of a nine-month old female Pacific Parrotlet (I headed down to Sacramento to go get her today), as well as the Peach-Faced Lovebird I adopted the other day. It's official--every one of my animals aside from our horse (who is at a stable anyway) has another of their species with them, so now no one will be lonely. :D
Time to update the pet list!
* Three dogs (Hana [Border Collie], Honey [Pembroke Welsh Corgi], Hooch [Pembroke Welsh Corgi])

* Two cockatiels (Holly and Lucy [both Lutino-colored])
* Two Pacific Parrotlets (Zephyr [wild coloration], Calypso [green/yellow hybrid])
* Two Peach-Faced Lovebirds (Oliver [green-pied coloration], Oliver [wild coloration])
* Two guinea pigs (Sheska [Brown shorthair], Hawkeye [Beige shorthair])
* One horse (River Nights [Gray Thoroughbred])
* Three ducks (Albert and Eugenie [Rouen ducks], Tuxedo [Cayuga/Magpie mix?])
* Three guinea fowl (Diamond [Pearl coloration], Pearl [Lavender coloration], Cornelius [Pied coloration])
* Twenty-five chickens (Not going to name them all. Breeds include (but not limited to) Black Japanese, Mille Fleur d'Uccle, BB Red Old English, Silver Duckwing Old English, Silver Sebright, Buff Orpington, Buff Black-Tailed Japanese, White Japanese, among others.)
* Five fish (Not going to name them. :P)
I named my new little parrotlet Calypso because last night I was trying to think of something that would go with the theme of Zephyr, and that was the first thing that popped into my head. Then on the way down to get her, I stopped at a gas station and grabbed a lemonade to drink. I noticed after I bought it that the brand name was Calypso, and was amused/took that as a sign it was supposed to be her name. Cally for short, after
callyfin! I look forward to telling her next time I see her on chat. (Assuming no one currently on chat links her to this post, that is! XD)
Tux is making such good progress! He actually stood up and walked a bit today, and flapped his wings and waggled his tail and everything. :D He's still certainly not great at walking, and if he can avoid it he does, but still...! The fact that he can is a relief.
Sometime soon, I will be sure to take pictures of all the new birdies. ♥
Officially have a paid account now, too. I have yet to do anything with it because I haven't gotten to it yet, but I'm looking forward to adding a bunch of userpics. :P Fandom-y ones, of course, corgi ones, bird ones, and so on! I'm really looking forward to being able to edit comments, too, as that's a big annoyance of mine.
I keep wanting to sit down and draw, and by the time I get to it, it's late. D: Must. Draw.
I just remembered today that I never uploaded the Yoko Kanno concert! I must do that--it's absolutely amazing! Bother me about it if I haven't uploaded it in the next three days or something. No, seriously, please do. I want you all to hear it!
My dream last night was such incredible crack. Began with disturbing/impossible to explain bit involving a buff naked dude and my brother (!?!? WTF doesn't even cover it. Surprisingly non-sexual, though. In all honesty, I can't really remember this part of the dream enough to piece together what was going on, though), then faded into walking around some city with my mom and going into a fancy restaurant and there was this crazy shiny piece of cake that looked like it was made of sparkly ice beads or something, then there was something I don't remember at all, then there was something with...leaves, an alleyway, New York, and friends of mine?
And then it went into this whole bizarre ocean thing where I kept going down these steep cliffs into this beautiful tropical ocean. I remember thinking the beach looked more "interesting" than many of the pristine beaches people flock to, but I'm not sure why I thought that. It was really clear and there were black-and-white striped things that were possibly fat sea snakes all over. More on the shore than in the water, actually. Eventually I went in a hotel, which was expensive but also slightly worn down, and I think my relatives and I were staying there. Then I charged into the ocean again, but went down the wrong part of the slope, where it was super steep and instead of there being a beach it just dropped off into sheer ocean, but I couldn't stop and had to go in there. Naturally, I thought of sharks, and just as I got in the water I looked and there was a large gray shape in the open ocean not far away. Obviously a shark. I think I woke up then, after seeing that blurry underwater outline of what looked like a great white shark. It was surrounded by nothing but open, dark blue-green water, and was perhaps three hundred feet away. Scary, nerve-wracking, and just a tiny bit thrilling.
I wish I could describe this dream better, but it was seriously just...utter crack. And I could probably going on for pages trying to capture arbitrary tiny, vague points that ultimately don't matter or are impossible to pin down.
Nothing else to say, really, at the moment. Maybe I'll try to actually put a little drawing time in for once before I fall asleep!
