Today was a lovely sit-around-and-be-geeky-and-watch-anime day. :D

I spent most of the earlier part of the day downloading anime and manga (Le Chavelier d'Eon, Death Note, some other stuff I can't remember...), and compiling some of my favorite manga (20th Century Boys, Monster, Hikago, etc.--which were spread across several CD-Rs) on my laptop so I can burn them all on one DVD-R. I also downloaded the rest of 20th Century Boys that's out, so I think I'm going to re-read that whenever I get the chance. Seeing as it's THE BEST MANGA EVER OMG, I think I need to read the first seventeen or so volumes again so I can move on to the newer chapters. I also downloaded the first few volumes of Pluto because it's NAOKI URASAWA ♥ and I'm hearing wonderful things about it.

I also made my computer play a clip from God Knows... when it starts, and a clip from Hare Hare Yukai when it shuts down. XD;; I think I might have the ultimate Harutard computer now. It's got a Haruhi skin, a Haruhi wallpaper, Haruhi turn-on and turn-off noises, a Haruhi doujin game on it, TONS of Haruhi pictures, ALL the released Haruhi music, the whole series fansubbed, hundreds of links relating to the show, and it'll soon have Haruhi icons for everything. XD;; Might as well go all-out with the theme...

Most notably, I started Mushishi today. By "started," I mean I intended to watch five or six episodes and watched twelve. The show is FRICKING *AMAZING*. It's breathtakingly beautiful and eerie, well-told, thought-provoking, totally original, and just...AMAZING. I recommend it to everything. It's so, so, so gorgeous. I was worried about how the show would handle just telling a bunch of one-shot stories (though Kino's Journey pulled it off), but now that worry is completely and totally gone. Every story it tells is spellbinding and enchanting. The animation is incredibly beautiful, the music is eerily fitting, and it's just...masterfully told. I don't have a single complaint I can think of so far. Other than that the shape of Ginko's nose kind of bothered me at first, and the young male characters tend to look kind of alike. XD;; Totally minor quibbles, though.

Anyway, Mushishi's one of the those shows that, for whatever reason, makes me think "Oh, wow... The world really is a beautiful and mysterious place, isn't it?"

So glad I'm watching it.

Went out to Tofanelli's for dinner with Dad and Ryan, my tortellinis were reasonably good, but the pesto was too spicy for my tastes, and came home and watched more Mushishi. Just stopped at the totally awesome Ginko's backstory episode--One-Eyed Fish.

Anyway, I'm completely in awe over it and love it and want everyone to watch it. SO PLEASE DO.

Along with Honey & Clover--another series that doesn't get enough love for its amazingness.
