River adventure
Aug. 24th, 2006 07:07 pmWell, after a night of virtually no sleep, I woke up at 6:30 AM to go whitewater rafting. I don't feel like writing a full account (I'm exhausted) so I'll just outline the highlights. It's not like this was my first trip, anyway (my eighth, actually), so writing the details would be pretty redundant for me.
- I fell out on class 4 rapids twice (a first for me--I'd never fallen out before) and majorly crashed into a rock wall, yet still managed to escape with nothing but a bruise on one hand. For the record, falling out wasn't half as traumatic as I thought it was going to be, thus removing that as an anxiety point for me. In fact, I kind of enjoyed it. I also got pushed into the water when I was unsuspecting by our guide, but that was on still water so it didn't matter. XD;;
- I was stuck with n00bs in my raft. :/ They were nice n00bs, but n00bs nonetheless.
- Our guide was cool! He was from Costa Rica, and his name was Ray. He's rafted all over the world, and he also gives people tours of the whole country of Costa Rica.
- Tunnel Chute was awesome. Lunch was also awesome.
- There was a family from Paris in one of the other rafts. They were nice to talk to. The other other raft contained a bachelor party, who was totally slacking and having a great time.
- The raft in front of us spotted a bear in the water, but he ran off before we got to see him. :/ We got to see some ospreys up close, though. :)
- It was probably my favorite whitewater trip yet. TOTALLY AWESOME.
I really should write more, as there was much to say, but I'm so frickin' tired I don't even think I can type. Now I must spent the next few hours trying to force myself not to go to sleep...
