Yoko Kanno Obsessiveness @_@
Nov. 20th, 2005 09:45 pmToday was bizarre because it was, at once, both completely chaotic and one of the more peaceful days I've had.
I woke up at about 9 AM to Ross and Laura's kids screeching. ._.; I slept past that as long as I could, but I think a side effect of all the noise was that it made me restless, so I wasn't comfortable sleeping for very long at all. So I woke up, got on the computer, downloaded some more AMVs, went through some more Japanese fanart sites, and started organizing files to be burned on to DVDs (I had about 5 gigs of stuff to get rid of). All the while, chaos flurried around me, but I tried my best to ignore it.
At about 11 AM, Dad randomly announced we (and by 'we', I mean Ross, Laura, and their three kids, too) were going to South Lake Tahoe so he could see a picture frame at the Hard Rock Café. You can note that obsessiveness apparently runs in the family. I mean, a two hour drive just to see a picture frame.
So, luckily Ross and family took their own car, while Dad, Ryan, and I had ours. Throughout this entire trip, there was nothing but Yoko Kanno playing. Not a single non-Yoko Kanno song. It was totally awesome. I got to listen to the entirity of the Sousei no Aquarion OST 2 (which I adore, by the way), and then we listened to Wolf's Rain OST 2 and lots of other random Yoko Kanno-ness. Surrounded by the incredible beauty that is the Tahoe area and in the car, listening to Yoko Kanno, I was beyond content and verging on euphoric for the entire trip.
We stopped at King's Beach to take a few pictures. It was supposed to be a five-minute trip, but Ross' two younger kids--Kelly and Cameron--randomly charged out into the freezing water, fully clothed, and went swimming. OMFG. The water was almost freezing, literally. So we ended up in the King's Beach parking lot for an hour while Ross stuggled to deal with the two sopping kids without any towels and few changes of clothes. :O
We eventually reached South Lake Tahoe, where we went into a casino and into Hard Rock Café. Looking at the frame took approximately five minutes. Dad didn't even end up liking the picture frame. After that we went to Taco Bell (the smallest Taco Bell in the country, and the second-smallest Taco Bell in the world) and ate across the street from it.
Then we went home, and Ross and family left us to go back to their home in Fairfield (*phew*). The ride home was even better than the ride there, because I was enjoying the music and the scenery and life in general so much.
I've decided that if wherever I go when I die doesn't have Yoko Kanno music, I'm leaving. :O
Basically, after that, I...well, pretty much just talked to KK for a few hours on the phone. It drives Dad crazy that KK and I talk so long and so frequently on the phone. XD I swear, every time one of us calls the other up, we talk for at least two hours.
So, that's pretty much it. I can't believe we only have two days of school this week! It's so exciting. :D
