Low, cloudy skies. :)
Nov. 1st, 2006 09:29 pmI woke up this morning to discover a low, cloudy sky that was surprisingly beautiful for its colorlessness. The clouds looked almost silvery. It actually reminded me of the morning we left for Fanime this year, so that got me all excited and made me completely energetic. I took care of the animals as usual, and caught the bus at 8:40 AM. That went pretty much like usual.
The bus stop is downtown Grass Valley is disgusting, and I generally have to wait there fifteen minutes or more for the next bus. The rest of Grass Valley is nice, but that bus stop is just...gross beyond belief. There are always huge amounts of cigarettes sitting around the bus stop, spit on the ground, a putrid garbage can nearby. It smells dank and rotten, and like cigarette smoke, no matter what the weather. I always have to force myself to not think of what might have been on the seat I sit on.
On the way from Grass Valley to Sierra College, a woman (I'm not sure of her age--perhaps early twenties?) started talking to me. I was kind of uncomfortable about this--not because she wasn't nice, because she was--but because I'm never quite sure how to talk to her or what to talk to her about (this isn't the first time I've talked to her). If I go silent, after a few seconds, she always says something else, and it's always so arbitrary all I can respond with is, "Oh, yeah." or "Mmm-hmmm." or "Really?" I don't know, it's kind of weird. Buses always make me so uncomfortable. Usually when I'm in them, I just want to relax and stare out the window introspectively, but weird people (and these people are weird even by my standards!) always, always make me the target of conversation. I scurried off to class as fast as I could after getting off the bus.
...I really should get my permit whenever I get some time.
During Psychology, I decided to cram and read the textbook, take notes, and listen to lecture at the same time. This would likely have been effective if it weren't for the fact that I was distracted over I don't remember what. I'm going to blame it on Fanime, though, as that's my primary distraction at the moment. XD;
Shannon didn't show up during lunch, and Tyler, Bee, and Rachel were all late, so I ended up companionless for much of lunch once Sue left.
Statistics went all right. We're in what's supposedly the most difficult part of the class at the moment, and I understand it darn well--so that makes me think it'll most likely be smooth sailing for the rest of the class. Not that it's even been rough... Though I will admit, the homework is taking longer and longer to complete.
In English, somehow Hotchkiss got into a long rant about the different sects of Christianity, the dating on different parts of the Bible, and other historical Christianity-related things. Quite interesting, actually, but Hotchkiss has a tendency to get so far off track in what he's saying that I can predict when he's going to move on to the next subject, and I've pretty much given up hope on him actually getting back to the original subject once he gets going. Luckily he remembered to let us listen to the Everson tape he brought in today for twenty minutes. That was kind of cool. Everson almost sounds like he's singing the poems.
Sue absolutely insisted that her dad should drive me home today, so despite my not wanting to be a burden on her dad, she ended up dragging me into her car, and her dad did indeed give me a ride to Penn Valley. Sure beats the bus, but I always feel bad about it. I briefly showed Sue my animals, and then she took off.
I basically spent the rest of today doing Statistics homework and envying the NaNoWriMo people. I really, really want to do NaNoWriMo one of these years, but there's absolutely no way I have time to write much of anything these days, much less a novel. Anyone on my f-list who is attempting it, I wish you the best of luck! And when you're haggard and dying (but experienced!) at the end of the month, if you could offer an aspiring NaNoWriMo contestant some advice, I'd really appreciate it.
I'm still downloading huge amounts of Honey & Clover-related music, but unfortunately none of my downloads have any seeders, so they're moving extremely slowly. (Hooray... 0kB/s. On all of them. -_-;)
I don't have to go to class until 11 AM tomorrow morning, so I'm going to celebrate by staying up until midnight or so.
