Finished Oyasumi Punpun tonight. I...have a lot of feelings right now, not all of them things I can easily express. I'm also somewhat confused about some things in relation to the end. Someday I want to read the whole thing again, but realistically I can't say it'll be right away, as much as I'd like to read it all again for the sake of clarification and picking up on things I missed. I'll have to emotionally prepare myself first, but I think I will read it again when I can.

As a warning, the manga gets extremely dark later in the story, so please be aware of that going into it! Dark, violent, disturbing, and bleak. Honestly, this is one of the more depressing stories I've ever read, and yet it also has these many moments of incredible beauty that took my breath away. I've got to say, despite my mixed feelings about the ending, I feel it is a masterpiece, without a doubt. I think it deserves that.

I'm so glad I decided to read it. Emotionally, I'm rather drained, though.

Since you mentioned it I looked up oyasumi punpun and omg it is written by the same mangaka who did nijigahara holograph AKA MY SECOND FAVORITE MANGA OF ALL TIME. Needless to say I am going to be reading oyasumi punpun soon!! *___* I remember how emotionally affected I was by nijigahara holograph... Looks like this is a master mangaka.

Yeah, I definitely want to read his other works now (once I've recovered a little more from Punpun)! Punpun is truly, truly amazing, but just...don't take my warning lightly when I say it gets extremely messed up. I tend to read/watch a lot of sad and disturbing anime and manga, and this is among the worst of all in that aspect I think. I think it's worth the emotional trauma, though. One of the best manga I've ever read.

Thank you indeed for the warning <3 It's good to know when one might be heading into potentially triggering territory. For some reason though, I sort of... end up gravitating to these kind of things. I don't want to say 'I like sad stories' but it is something like that ^^; But I think you might understand what I mean.

No problem! With this, it's almost like trigger warning: everything, And yeah, I'm completely the same way. I gravitate towards sad stories, too, though I must say that I do like them in some sense. I feel like they can be more meaningful than things without as much emotional depth--they have more of an impact. I know that this story is going to stick with me, probably forever.

Hmm this sounds very interesting to read! Do you read your manga online or physically? I am fine with either, but I don't like my chances of finding it physically here.

It's an incredible manga, but also very traumatic (just be warned).

I read this online--it hasn't ever been released in the US or any other English-speaking countries as far as I know. ; 3 ; If it ever comes out in English, I will definitely buy it, though!

It's okay, I'm still interested in reading something a little more...I guess mature?

Are you able to share where abouts you read this?

It's definitely worth reading (like I said, I feel it's a masterpiece), I just have to warn everyone because I don't want it to psychologically damage anyone without their permission.

Let me know what you think when you finish it!

Okay, so we don't have the opportunity to talk often, but you got me hooked on Natsume Yuujinchou before and your explanation of Oyasumi Punpun has resulted in me reading 80 chapters of it in the past two days, haha... (in other words, thank you for yet another amazing manga/anime experience.)

I do have a question, though. I've read that it is currently ongoing and there is a final volume to be released this month? Is that accurate information?

That's fine, I remember you of course! ♥ Glad to hear from you again! And I'm glad you love Natsume Yuujinchou and are reading Punpun! Punpun is so incredible. You haven't reached the point where it gets really disturbing, though, so just be ready for that (not that I think you can properly be ready, but anyway...).

The last volume is sort of out (because all of the chapters were already released), and there are rough scans and translations. The quality is a bit so-so, but you can still finish the manga and get the gist of what happens: http://blackinque.imgur.com/ The "official" scanlations won't be out until sometime in January, so these are your best shot if you want to finish it soon.
