May. 12th, 2013 10:50 pmI've been drawing Gen VI Pokémon today~! And the other day I did some Mystery Dungeon drawings as well. I also have some other drawings to be colored when I feel up to it.

I'm really glad that I've been forcing myself to draw lately, though it's always difficult with my motivation problems. The only thing is, while I'm drawing I feel pretty good about my art, and then afterwards my confidence seems to go up and down and up and down. My art gets some attention (and sometimes a fair amount), but not tons of it, and while I'm not really drawing for attention, it does make a good motivator. I don't now, I guess it's just the same old artist issue everyone has--I wish I was a better artist! There's nothing I can do about that except to keep drawing, though.
Now that I've started drawing, I want to keep drawing more, and I have a few requests I want to finish but I've got to be careful because Fanime is coming up fast and I have plenty of prep to do for it! I have an entire panel to put together, and while I'm somewhat started, I need to actually get working on the presentation itself. And, naturally, now work is going to be busy this week. Go figure, when I'm already feeling a bit like I have too much on my plate.
Giant Shinykarp arrived, and he is getting lots of love on Tumblr, haha. Well over 2000 notes just today! Well, he is marvelous, so I can't blame the people for loving him. I know I do! I tried to get a picture of him with my cat, but none of them turned out any good. He's so soft and gigantic and amazing! Part of me wants to bring him to Fanime, but I know that would be the dumbest idea ever because he is MASSIVE and I have to drag all my insane amount of Swap Meet stuff in addition to my usual con over-packing.

The duck eggs got taken by rats or something (and Rue kind of lost interest in the eggs the last few days as well), so no ducklings this time around. :( I'm a bit sad, especially because the eggs were maybe a week or so from hatching, but...nothing I can do about it now. Rue freaked out as soon as I tried to contain her so hopefully nothing would happen if ducklings did hatch, so if I had moved them somewhere safer she may not have stuck it out anyway.

Date: 2013-05-13 12:42 pm (UTC)Sounds like you are a typical artist, striving to be better. The main reason I draw is to get emotions and feeling out. Though, it makes my art rather personal and I rarely share it.

Date: 2013-05-13 06:35 pm (UTC)Yes, that's all we can do! I get frustrated at times by how slowly improvement happens, but I have to try to relax and appreciate what I am able to create. It can be hard to remember that not everyone is as hard on my art as I am. And art is a great way to express yourself! Somehow, I'm not always great at using it for that, though sometimes I do. I do find drawing very relaxing, though.
I'd like to see more of your art, if you want to post it! If not, that's fine, though--it's entirely up to you what you feel comfortable sharing.

Date: 2013-05-16 07:05 pm (UTC)Thanks for the DA watch, though I am not very active. Thanks to making a nice friend there recently, I've gotten some confidence back and I plan to start uploading more. That is if and when I feel creative again...:\
We our are own worst critics unfortunately! I really need to start creating again, but I am so hooked on Outernauts,,,:P
I've become more comfortable with my personal LJ and I hope to start posting more art...;)

Date: 2013-05-13 04:11 pm (UTC)Although once I have heard from godudette that people tried to steal her mate's Charizard pokedoll, since then, I have been careful with what I bring to cons (though here, it's kind of safe). Still, if you decide to bring him along, I am sure he will have a lot of attention!
