pacificpikachuToday was one of those days where I somehow ended up with a huge, friendly tom turkey of a breed I have not been able to discern, and a one day old canada gosling. I also got a call about a big snapping turtle (not native to California), but I'm not dealing with that.

I don't know if the turkey is going to stay here or not--I may see if my work can take him so he could be with other turkeys--but he is quite lovely and obviously was someone's pet at some point. I'll figure out what to do with the gosling once he grows up a bit more, right now he's just a cute puffball.
My rhode island red bantam hen was dead this morning. I can't figure out why for the life of me. I couldn't find a single thing wrong with her, not a feather out of place, and she seemed completely healthy. I've been out with the chickens a lot lately and took a bunch of pictures of her. Really sad, I never even got to name her and I loved that little bird! She was darling and gorgeous and totally sweet. Sigh. Well, you can't prevent something totally unexpected and unexplained like that, I guess.
