I wanted to share some of my special things! As most of you know, I love going to anime conventions. In my nine years of doing this, I've collected quite a few autographs from people I admire. This is nowhere near complete--I forgot to take pictures of a lot of autographs because they weren't in the binder that I store the majority in--but it gives you some idea at least!

Here's a few of the autographs I forgot to include, despite them all being super important to me: the pillows (x2), Raj Ramayya, Shokotan, Tomokazu Seki, Toshihiko Seki, Mahiro Maeda, and...a lot more. ^^;; I was trying to take pictures of too many things at once so that made me even more forgetful.

First things are not autographs, but...memoirs of the most amazing days of my life! ;A;

Photobucket

Tickets to the 2010 Macross Frontier concert at Anime Expo, where Yoko Kanno made a guest appearance, and to TanaSonic--the absolutely incredible Yoko Kanno concert I went to in Japan in 2009.

Photobucket

Merchandise from TanaSonic. From left to right: Save the Hiyoko bag, T-shirt, Seatbelts duck that the audience squeaked during the concert, program book, Macross Frontier pamphlet thing that came with the program book, and Seatbelts towel.

The poster sold out before I could get one. My dad still chides me about this, seeing as he collects rock concert posters. Not like I could help that it was sold out!

Maaya Sakamoto concert at Anime Expo. ♥

My favorite author ever, Peter S. Beagle. He is so sweet, too. I feel honored to get to see him at Anime Expo each year. I hope he'll be back this year as well! I have a Last Unicorn DVD signed by him as well, forgot to picture it.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And my favorite character designer, Toshihiro Kawamoto:

Incidentally, he even mentioned that this Wolf's Rain book is rare when I had it signed. Yes, it is! I pre-ordered it way before it came out, actually. I also got to tell him that I have corgis now as a result of Cowboy Bebop, heehee.

Megumi Nakajima and May'n. I told each of them that I saw them at TanaSonic and they were surprised. Megumi made a duck-squeaking motion and I said, "Ahiru no oto!" and we both laughed.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Quick Claus sketch by Range Murata. (Don't mind the Simon sketch peeking through, should've put something down between them...) I'm still kicking myself for only having notebook paper at the time, but oh well!

Photobucket

Then I got his autograph in a Last Exile book:

Photobucket

Photobucket

Mari Iijima. Lynn Minmay from the original Macross. She is an amazing person! I really enjoyed her original music, she lives in the US/speaks fluent English, and she's vegan and totally adores her bunny! So awesome.

Photobucket

Now for Gurren Lagann staff stuff! Lots of doodles and whatnot. I've met basically the entire animation team, plus more, and even visited studio GAINAX for a personal tour! Yes, I have photos to prove it. Not going to post them here, though, this will take me enough time as it is. I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunities I've had with the Gurren Lagann staff. It's one of the most important series to me, so I'm just so moved that things worked out how they did.

Sushio, famous animator!

Photobucket

Akai, character designer for Daikon IV. Yayyy bunny girl! I love Daicon IV. One of the founding members of GAINAX.

Photobucket

Director, Hiroyuki Imaishi:

Photobucket

Character designer, Atsushi Nishigori:

Photobucket

GAINAX CEO, who comes to Fanime every year, Hiroyuki Yamaga. Also one of the founding members of GAINAX:

Photobucket

Masahiko Otsuka. Directed the amazing second Gurren Lagann movie. Also was the assistant director for Whisper of the Heart:

Photobucket

Bottom right is Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, character designer of Evangelion, who was quietly milling about. (I guess they were keeping it hush-hush that he was there, I just happened to see his name on his badge!) He said the girl is an original character.

And Katsuyuki Konishi, Kamina's seiyuu:

Not GAINAX, but tangentially associated? Ryumoto (Ryuusuke Hamamoto), who designed the popular R-style figures. His art style is adorable, I love it! I went to a panel where I watched him do an entire drawing from start to finish and it was fascinating. I learned a lot from it!

Photobucket

Kouga Yun, author of Loveless, Earthian, etc. Glare on her cute kitty, annoying!

Photobucket

Articuno/Zapdos/Moltres card signed by Masamitsu Hidaka, director of the original anime series. In hindsight, I have a thousand questions I wish I had asked him, but oh well.

Photobucket

Original drawing by Hiroshi Nagahama, director of the Mushishi anime:

Photobucket

Yutaka Izubuchi, director of RahXephon:

And director of the RahXephon movie (as well as Eureka SeveN), Tomoki Kyoda:

Main staff of Last Exile ~Fam, the Silver Wing~.

Photobucket

The director, character designer, and...someone else I need to look up because my memory is failing me from Higashi no Eden:

Photobucket

Seiji Mizushima, director of the original FMA anime:

Aaand that's all for now, though this post is most certainly incomplete! I just know I have autographs lurking around in CDs and books that I need to dig up, too. orz, I'll do that sometime. I also have photos with quite a few of these people!

I feel so, so thankful to have had the many amazing experiences I've had. I can't believe it sometimes!

So jealous! My local anime conventions sometimes get famous English VAs, like Vic Mignogna, but no Japanese VAs or character designers or anything.

Aw, that's the sad thing about small cons. (Incidentally, Vic is not my favorite person in the world, and I run into him at conventions all the time.) Hopefully eventually you'll get to meet some! It's so fascinating hearing about what goes on behind the scenes.

Thank you! Lots of waiting in lines, but it's worth it!

I've been so lucky with all my Gurren Lagann experiences. I'm so glad to have these lovely original sketches by so many of the staff!

Ah jealous of the Gurren Lagann & especially The Mushishi one.

I do have Seki Tomokazu, Seiji Mizushima & Peter S. Beagle.

I have not been to a convention in a couple years bc of money. Next year after stuff hopefully becomes more situated for me, I am really going to try to make a West Coast Con & maybe go back to Otakon. But it doesn't look like either will work out this year.

If you ever get a chance to meet Nagahama-san, he is very friendly and enthusiastic! He did beautiful drawings for everyone in the line. :D And of course GAINAX is awesome!

Those are all great people to meet!

It's too bad you haven't been able to make it to any cons. I hope your money situation gets better soon so you can do so! And you're always welcome to room with me at any California con. :D

Uwaaa it's cool you got lots of sketches from these people! and i still need to read the last unicorn -_-;;;;;;;; I did read a short story by Peter S Beagle in a unicorn anthologies book he was co-editor of and I really liked it! i hope the last unicorn is a long book. some 'children's books' are decently lengthed so i don't have to feel sad it's so short! (watership down, peter pan). you know what, i'll go put it on hold from the library now :o
