Seriously, Pixiv? Apparently 3/14 is Ash/Satoshi Day on Pixiv. Favorite anime character's day on my birthday. This is about as weird as the official Pokémon daily calendar that put Mew--my favorite Pokémon--on my birthday. Plus, of course my birthday is also Pi Day, White Day, and Albert Einstein's birthday. My birthday just rocks!

Speaking of things that rock, that doujin I was talking about? I won it! It didn't even go that high, either. See? http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g112930813 I'm surprised because there was so much bidding from various bidders throughout the auction, but then once I bid there was no competition all the sudden. :D

Also won this cute Pichu cel: http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k146038496

I spent today doing absolutely nothing productive. It was nice, I think we all need those kinds of days every now and then. Now I'll probably be up late, but oh well.

Henny-Penny passed away today. RIP, sweetheart. I'll miss her incredibly outgoing and talkative personality. I could not figure out what was wrong with her for the life of me, though, and nothing I did had any impact. She had a good life. I considered--as I do on the mysterious deaths--doing a necropsy, but I don't think I could do it on my own animals. Other creatures, sure, but not my own. Plus, I think she was on the older side for a laying breed of hen. The laying breeds rarely live as long as the game breeds and bantams.

That's about it, not much more to say. Might go draw or organize or something.

Wow, so many cool things on your bday! :D Also, happy late birthday! ;A;

Congrats on your wins as well, that doujin looks amazingly close to the anime's drawing style!

Thanks Jayce! Yeah, I love my birthday. :D

That artist is super close to the actual style, which I love about it. The doujin by that artist were released in something like 1999 or something, so they don't pop up too often. I've won three so far, out of I'm not sure how many, but this was the book of theirs I wanted the most!

Congrats! That doujin looks adorable.

Have you already read it online somewhere, or do you have no idea what's in it? I'd love to find some Fire Emblem doujinshi, but I don't really want to pay $20+deputy fees when I don't know what's inside of them especially since I can't tell which ones have porn and which ones don't by the covers.

It sounds like there's not much more you could have done for Henny-Penny. Maybe, like you said, it was just complications with old age?

Thank you! I've seen a few scanned pages and I know it will be. :D

I don't typically read my doujin online before buying them, because they're nowhere to be found scanned, but at least with Pokémon doujin it tends to be pretty clear what's worksafe and what isn't. I know that's not always the case with other fandoms, though. If you can find synopsises or scans online of a doujin, I'd do that first, but if not all I can recommend is look at the auction title and the summary, and if it says R-18 anywhere don't buy it (unless that's what you wanted, LOL). The sellers usually include a few photos of the pages, too, and you can get some idea that way. The other thing to look out for is that some doujin are all or nearly all written with no pictures.

I suspect it was heart failure with Henny-Penny, actually, which means there was nothing I could do.
