I've been a bad LJer this month! Just so much going on, mostly offline. Things are fine here, though.

I'm still working a lot, as the donations continue coming in for the hen rescue, and even if they were to slow down, I can help with adoptions. The other day I spent about twenty minutes just watching some of the Turlock hens living in the isolation barn near the offices. Their feather condition is still poor, but their eyes are bright and they're certainly becoming more active. It was fascinating watching them because I've had chickens for over fifteen years now, and I'm familiar with how they move and their mannerisms. These hens, who have been in cages their whole lives, move much differently than my flock. Their movements are more awkward, clumsy, tentative, almost like a toddler. At the same time, as they move, there is a sense of joy. They will stretch out and flap their wings and you can tell that they are enjoying how it feels, that it is a new sensation for them. Sometimes, one will go running around and then look pleased with herself. It's a special thing to watch.

Mom finally got a laptop! A Toshiba Satellite for $329 at Best Buy. I've been setting it up for her, and I'm going to teach her how to use it. She knows how to do most of the most basic things, but even some of the fundamentals are missing, so I think she'll enjoy the computer more once she understands it better. Just a matter of finding time for her to sit and learn with me.

Mom and I are both going to get mp3 players, but I'm having so much trouble deciding still! The problem is that I want something cheap, with a decent amount of storage, and good reviews, and of course all three of those are difficult to find in one mp3 player. I'm probably taking my search too seriously, hahaha, but oh well. I'll make up my mind soon enough, I just need to get back to looking and thinking. I wish there was one that was the clear choice, but they all have pros and cons. I want to order it soon!

I've been bidding on Y!J things again, and trying to find a balance between getting carried away and getting myself in money troubles, and regretting not bidding on things. Well, I'm happy with what I've won, and next month should be a decent one for money, so it will work out. Really happy that I've been winning so many SatoKasu doujinshi, I am excited to open those! I'll be getting some of them in the mail within a week or two because I just paid for them and their shipping, and the rest I'll request shipping for when I'm done bidding on things fairly soon (hopefully).

There are many recently released Pokémon things I want to add to my collection, but I will do it only when I can afford it.

Aside from work, I'm mostly doing projects around the house. Cleaning/organizing, printing pictures to put up, moving books around, that kind of thing. We got some things for the house at Ikea, so that gives me items to set-up and better ways to organize. Want to do more art and writing as well, as always!

Junebug, the tiny hen I took in from my friend a while back because she wasn't doing well, passed away. I had known all along that there was something seriously up with her, so I'm just glad that I was able to give her a good last few months of her life. I strongly believe that whatever was wrong with her was beyond the scope of treatment. She never regained her feather quality, and her comb and wattles were usually pale. I can't feel bad about her death when I'm nearly certain that nothing could be done. She was happy while she was here.

Henny-Penny is having an issue again. This has happened a few times now, where she has gotten weak and her comb gets all pale, and previously she has bounced back. Hopefully she will again. She's in the house now in the "hospital ward" (a large storage tub with shavings in the bird room). Her comb is turning redder again, so that's a good sign. I can't figure it out because she never loses weight, but it could be some sort of anemia. I may look into worming her and see if that helps, otherwise I'm going to have to do some research. She is an older laying breed (partridge rock) and laying breeds are prone to all kinds of issues, so I know she may not have a long life ahead of her, but I'm doing what I can to help her. She's such an outgoing hen!

Otherwise, all of the animals are doing well.

Apologies for not being online much! I'm thinking of you all a great deal whether I'm online much or not, though. ♥
