A poultry update! More for my sake than anyone else's. Not the happiest news overall, but keep in mind almost the entire flock is otherwise in awesome shape.

I finally did a list and a count, and the current count is 56 chickens and 10 ducks. Not too bad, not too bad.

Anyway, here's what's up in the flock:

- A predator somehow managed to kill my serama hen Aztec. I can't figure out how said predator managed to do this despite my predator proofing, but it's sad and disappointing. RIP, Aztec, I loved you. I'm sorry.

- Additionally, Sterling, my thirteen-year-old silver phoenix, passed away yesterday after suddenly falling ill despite everyone else being over the illness for the most part. The medication everyone was on didn't have an effect. RIP, Sterling, I'll miss you and your sister Silver. (Silver passed away not long ago.)

- Porcia is doing much much better than she was! She's eating like a champ and escaping constantly, haha, and her mouth and tongue swelling are gone. However, now a small lesion showed up on her eyelid. Ugh, and today I was hoping to put her back in the coop! Guess she still needs to be on meds a bit longer.

- My three guinea fowl, Diamond, Pearl, and Cornelius, have gone to a new home with my friend Ray. I'm going to miss them terribly, I've had them for years, but I know it's the right choice for them! They're going to be with other guineas and be able to roam freely. They will be so much happier, but I can't help but feel a little sad anyway. Oh well, I will see them again when I visit!

- On another guinea fowl note, my friend Ray brought me a guinea who had been attacked by his guineas and totally torn up. Big terrible wounds, it's sad. I'm working on him, trying to get him better. I think he has a fighting chance--he's still up and about, alert and eating, and that's the main thing.

Now that the guineas are gone, the ducks are much happier, and Sarge is definitely way way happier! Sarge is so mellow, I'm glad I decided to take him in even though a big rooster was probably among the things I least needed.

- I also got in a gorgeous male California quail with a broken leg. The leg has a weird break, too, I can't really describe it in words.

I'm going to take the quail and the guinea with me to the raptor center in about an hour to have Kim help me get them stabilized. Hoping the best for the two injured ones! They'll be humanely euthanized if they're beyond saving.

- Aside from one swelling on Rocket's sinuses, finally the main flock looks like they're over the illness. Thank goodness! I hope it doesn't come back.

- My serama hens are practically all broody again, hahaha. =_____= I think I'm going to let them hatch the eggs if they want, though. I can always bring moms and chicks in the house and keep them in the bird room if anything hatches.

So much to do lately, I have a lot of things I want to get done this evening. Put some stuff on Ebay perhaps, definitely get the packages ready to go out and maybe make some more cards to send, copy my collection post here and add some non-Pokémon things to it, arrange things regarding the poultry show, and so on.
