1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?

Went to Pennsylvania, worked two jobs, went on a business trip (an uneventful one, LOL), helped save a lab pig and turkeys and thousands of chickens, ummm... I dunno, nothing really drastic.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any, and I don't plan to make any this year either. Just vague goals to keep in mind!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My chickens hatch eggs every year. :D

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Lots of my pets. Possibly more pet deaths this year than any other--mostly thanks to the raccoon. :( Oliver, Lucy, Minky, Lexi, Nova, Whisper, Silver, Tsunami, my Icelandic roosters, my unnamed bantam rooster, Alpine, Tux-duck, Albert, Fakir, Splash, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, several chicks that never got names, two ducklings. Lots of death. Zebra the chukar and the five quail disappeared, might have died.

5. What countries did you visit?
None. Just the US.

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
More happiness and artistic drive, less pet tragedies, no computer repairs, less stress.

7. What dates from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The Pennsylvania trip for Gin's wedding! Just a wonderful, wonderful trip. It was awesome being able to spend time with people I've only known online for year, and there was just so much fun and laughter all around.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I don't know. I won NaNoWriMo again, but I always do that.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Losing so many chickens to predators.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing particularly terrible, nope. A few average illnesses.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Probably cels! And the chickens/ducks I brought home from PPBA.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My friends, who have stood by me and offered comfort, advice/help/suggestions, and even money, when my life hit rough patches. My co-workers for working hard to rescue animals and keep the existing animals at the sanctuary happy and healthy. My brother, surprisingly enough, for standing up for himself, his morals, and other people when his friends are asshats. (Though why he continues to hang out with friends who are asshats is beyond me...)

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
My brother's friend Jake, who spiraled down in the last year or two from being a smart, caring, authentic (if somewhat eccentric) kid, to a serious drug addict who is in and out of jail. I'm worried about him, I don't know if he's going to make it in the end.

Factory farms and the Republican party as always.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Pokémon collection, chicken food, and anime conventions!

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Adopting Tosca, Pokémon Black/White, cons, Pennsylvania trip, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Pony music! And Friday, noooo. Shooting Stars by Edwin McCain. Pokémon Best Wishes theme (Japanese) and Kokoro no Fanfare. Probably lots of others I can't think of off the top of my head.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Maybe a little sadder, but not bad.
b) thinner or fatter? I think the same?
c) richer or poorer? Richer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Art and writing! Reading fanfiction! Watching anime!

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sending my computer off for repairs, mourning animal deaths.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
The usual way--Christmas Eve is spent in Davis with mom's side of the family, Christmas day is spent with dad's side of the family in Petaluma.

21. What was your favorite month of 2011?
I dunno!

22. Did you fall in love in 2011?
With Tosca! And pigeons, and ponies, and various characters.

23. How many one-night stands?
All of them.

24. What was your favourite TV programme?
Of the ones I saw this year, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Gunbuster/Diebuster, and I guess Madoka. Didn't watch as much as I wanted to, though.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.

26. What was the best book you read?
Eternal Treblinka.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I don't know, I'm always listening to tons of music.

28. What did you want and get?
Lots of cels, Tosca, quite a few Pokémon items, to go to my usual three cons plus Pennsylvania plus Cherry Blossom Festival.

29. What did you want and not get?
Two of my grails (Pokémon Mini Umbreon strap and giant Lapras).

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Summer Wars! I don't think it was made this year, but anyway.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 23 and I went down to Roseville with my mom and brother and went to dinner and frozen yogurt.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Less pet deaths and less computer break-age.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
The usual! T-shirt and blue shorts. XD

34. What kept you sane?
Fanfiction, Pokémon, MLP, Hatoful Boyfriend, my friends, and fun events.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Yoko Kanno, DUH.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The usual--animal rights, reproductive rights.

37. Who did you miss?
My animals who died.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I can't keep track of when I met which people. But I met some very cool people this year!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011.
Hmmm, I suppose not to take things for granted. Being thankful for what I have.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year
"Maybe this life is just about love and tenderness
If all we are are shooting stars
Maybe we, we can fight
All of this pain and loneliness if
All we are are shooting stars"

Overall, this year has been so-so. Plenty of ups and downs. It flew by, really, it feels like it was just yesterday that it started. I can't say it was amazing or terrible, really, just mixed. I hope 2012 is a more stable, happy year! I'm optimistic.
