Seriously, grail? Not funny!
Dec. 20th, 2011 11:03 pmNaturally, I missed the charms post because I still have no laptop and because of social engagements. Also got outbid on an item in a GA that I really wanted. Oh well, another will show up. At least I was able to reserve Unfezant and Swanna charm lines, so that takes a few off the list! I'll definitely be needing an Eevee set, but I'm sure I'll be able to get one once they show up on Y!J. Then I just need to hunt down the others I want as well.
A major grail of mine has popped up for the first time in a while! Of course, at the worst possible time! That seems to be a rule of the world. If it was just in another week or two, things would be perfect, but naturally that's not how it goes. Regardless, I'd like to try for it, though I'm not sure how yet because deputy services require a deposit and I don't have much in the way of money until I get my paycheck (though I might get some money for Christmas, too, and I'm petsitting starting Thursday). I have a day and a half to scramble like crazy and hopefully make it work. If not, there's always next time I suppose, though it might be a while. But it would be totally amazing to win it! I'm trying not to become a ball of stress here. My ideas are somewhat limited and make me a bit nervous, but not as nervous as letting such a major grail just slip away.
The annoying thing is that I'll be able to afford it if I can win, it's making the deposit that is causing me anguish!
What I really need is a credit card to make a deposit (because in that case money won't get tied up if I don't win), but I don't have a credit card and my parents will freak out if I ask them. I wish I already had a big deposit on a deputy service, but alas. Thinking, thinking, thinking! It doesn't help that I don't have a good computer to work with.
I have a few ideas, but I feel really, really guilty asking for help, especially from people who have been kind enough to help me before. This is not a tiny sum. I'm considering a payday advance loan, but that makes me REALLY nervous because I don't want to get screwed over. I don't mind paying the extra, I just don't want to get screwed over. If I ask my parents, drama will erupt and there might be hell to pay for even asking. So uncertain right now! Might take a shower and think about it more.
I took in a new cockatiel and lovebird over the weekend! The cockatiel is a male, cinnamon pied, named Tooter. He whistles songs and wolf whistles and dances, and is generally just a super cute and funny character. He and Holly hit it off right away, which makes me so happy. Tooter has been alone for years after his male mate died, so I think it was probably really exciting for him to see another cockatiel. He's darling and funny and so sweet!
The lovebird is unknown gender, hopefully/leaning towards male, and darker green than Olive. Also quite sweet, will perch on my finger, and in need of a name! I'm going to watch for a bit to try and determine whether this lovebird is a he or a she (probably won't have a DNA test done because it ultimately doesn't matter THAT much--not like I'm going to breed them). I think I might name him (?) Mango unless someone else can think of a better name that would sound okay with Olive. Preferably a food-related, relatively short name. I need to clean out Oliver's old cage for him because the cage he came in is too small by my standards.
Corgi party was a great success, as was the pony party! So much fun. I'll post pictures sometime soon, I got some good ones and so did

Lucky is likely getting neutered tomorrow, and the possible home is sounding promising still! As I've said before, Lucky is a sweetheart and I love him, but he doesn't fit into our household well. He and Hooch got in more fights and he got bitten on his leg again, thankfully not as badly this time, and he bit Hooch on the snount. Poor Hooch has a puncture wound in his snout and it makes him sneeze a little. He was sneezing blood last night, but it dried up pretty fast. I'm putting Silvadine on it for now, I don't think he needs to go to the vet but of course we'll take him if it gets worse or the sneezing increases.
A fellow co-worker will be taking over my adoption coordinator job. I'm glad it'll be someone I know and like. She'll be starting in the beginning of January, then I'll be changing my hours to work around three days a week, and I'll get to sleep in more again. I'm sad to be leaving this job behind, but I'll get to help with training her a bit and it's possible that in the future I can be involved with it again. I do like the admin position, and it'll be nice to just work long-ish hours three days a week and then have the rest of the time off. Maybe I'll try and find another job to work a few more hours somewhere, or just work on projects. I'm less depressed about the job changes than I was, but of course I wish I still had the job.
Back to trying to think of a way to make my grail work out! Why must these things always pop up toward the end of the month after a bunch of things have happened (like paying $100 out of my own pocket to pay for Lucky's vet exam. I'll be reimbursed, but not for a few weeks)? Ugh! So frustrating.

Date: 2011-12-21 07:09 am (UTC)I'm okay with the deposit system in general, but I wish Noppin would let you apply your deposit to the winning price of the item. Unless I'm mistaken, right now you have to pay for your items BEFORE they'll refund your deposit, even if you're only bidding on one thing. Makes it a hassle for grails and expensive GAs.

Date: 2011-12-21 08:09 am (UTC)The big issues are that a) I don't currently have money for the rather expensive deposit, but I'm trying to work that out because I will have money soon, and b) most of the sites with multipliers for the deposits take up to twenty-four hours for the deposit to go through, and that's when the auction ends.
Eeeek. I'm trying to think of what to do next! If I just had a credit card, even with a limit of just a few hundred, that would be perfect, but sadly I don't!

Date: 2011-12-21 08:12 am (UTC)Noppin's deposit has always been instant when I used it, but I know that doesn't help on the money issue...

Date: 2011-12-21 08:15 am (UTC)Yes, I know another will show up eventually. That's what cheers me up even if things don't go well with this one. But if I am able to win this one, it would just be incredible! I just wish it could have waited until after I got my paycheck, not after December's paycheck was whittled to almost nothing by various things. And no time to sell anything either.
Well, I'm going to give it a shot. Somehow!
