Oct. 14th, 2011 11:32 pmTime for a pet picture post! Have to do them periodically of course. I wanted to get more chicken pictures this evening but my camera battery died. Alas! Oh well, I can do that another day.

Hi Honey.

Honey in need of an exorcism:

Poor Hana (border collie) got left out this time because she was usually with my mom at the stables when I was taking pictures.
Tosca enjoys playing with the DS in a different way than I do:

My black east indies ducks are in full shine right now, they look like living gems. Pictures can't even do them justice:

My (call) ducks are in a row:

Duck, duck, duck, duck... Chicken?

Breakdown of the call ducks because I finally got good pictures of each of them:

Ahiru, butterscotch call hen (female ducks are called hens, too). Her mate, Fakir, was killed by a raccoon months ago. I still get depressed about this, ugh, I loved him. :(

Uzura, blue fawn call hen.

Rue, black and white call hen.

Mytho, mysterious color call drake.
This is Flare. I freaking love Flare, his colors are crazy and he's just gorgeous:

Group shot of the first kennel, with seramas and black east indies ducks. I have too many young roosters, I'm selling three or four of them and keeping the rest. Not everyone was pictured. Don't mind the dirty water, it's because of the ducks.

Prince, my first serama rooster. He's such a good-natured, lovely fellow. He kept doing the serama pose and looking incredible, but all of the serama pose pictures turned out blurry.

One of the seven-month-ish roosters. This is the one I'm torn on selling. Posting this because it's amusing, though.

Prince and some of his flock in the third kennel:

Apple Bloom, who is tiny and oh-so-cute:

Latte when she was younger:

Latte now:

Her sister, Mocha, did not want to be photographed. Except she's in the picture with the call ducks and just her.
Hanabi, who has bright colors for a hen!

Miranda and Inca when they were sitting on eggs together months ago.
My two dun/khaki boys. This is such an unusual color for a serama, I'm keeping both of these guys. I think they're so cool. One has no white, and one has white. They need names.

This is Fiona, the golden phoenix pullet my friend Ray gave me yesterday. She's so cute!

Rocky, blue-red dutch bantam rooster. Bought him at the awful livestock auction I went to with work a while back. This was taken a few months ago, his feathers are REALLY incredible now that they've come in all the way! I really wanted to get some pictures of him today, but the camera died before I could. Rocky is tiny.

Rocket, wheaten old english game bantam rooster:

Domino, silver sebright:

Porcia, bantam silver spangled hamburg. She was out free-ranging at the time:

Some of my large mixed flock out free-ranging:

This feels incomplete because I left out sooo many animals! But oh well, I'm just posting the pictures that actually came out decent, not trying to catalog every critter of mine.
Was still unable to get the two shelter hens today, but tomorrow it should hopefully actually happen!

Date: 2011-10-17 12:34 am (UTC)Corgis are more like medium dogs than small ones, both in temperament and size. My corgis are abnormally small, but I'm still not sure I'd classify them as small dogs. They have fantastic personalities!

Date: 2011-10-17 12:52 am (UTC)Shelter dogs don't usually have problems in my experience (and I've fostered fourteen of them and owned three shelter dogs)--you can generally tell what their personality is like, especially if you get one who has been in foster care with a rescue group for a while! That's what I'd definitely recommend to a new dog owner rather than getting a puppy, adopting a young adult dog from a foster home with a rescue group. That way you can be certain what they are like, they generally get some training beforehand, and it's not as overwhelming or frustrating as puppies can be. I love puppies and all, but they are a lot of work!
Ironically, the dog of mine with the most behavior problems (my border collie Hana) was the one we raised from eight weeks old.

Date: 2011-10-15 01:35 pm (UTC)Such personality your corgis have. It seems like Honey likes the camera a little too much, lol.

Date: 2011-10-17 12:39 am (UTC)Haha, yep, the corgis have huge personalities! And yeah, Honey reminds me of an actress/singer because she's so dramatic, camera loving, and likes to howl in funny ways.

Date: 2011-10-17 12:55 am (UTC)Prince is a sweetheart! I love him, he's very friendly and treats his hens wonderfully. And the black east indies ducks are very emerald-like! That single one pictured above is actually named Emerald. His mom and dad are Teal and Jade.
