pacificpikachuTotally unexpectedly, a raccoon got my most gorgeous rooster, Nova. I'm really sad and disappointed. I can't figure out how the raccoon managed to get him--it had to grab him through the chain link fence and then kill/eat him through the fence, and I'm surprised Nova got close enough for the raccoon to grab him, especially because the raccoon somehow grabbed him over the mini duck pond.
RIP, Nova... I'm so disappointed, I just got him in January at the show and I knew immediately he was the perfect rooster for me. He was just absolutely stunning beyond words. He never was very friendly to me, but he was kind to his hens and a good father. ;____;
A few of his many sons will succeed him. I since totally predator-proofed that coop so it won't happen again.
Gah, it always seems to be my favorites that die prematurely.
