New family member!

I got the bengal kitty out of the shelter today! She is gorgeous and so, so sweet. I adore her already! Mom is not the happiest with me that I was so insistent on getting her, but I think once she gets to know her that's going to help. I felt like there was no other option. This is love.

I'm trying to find her the right name. It's difficult! The breeder named her Benicia, but that's too long to say. The next adopter named her Gracie, and I think that's a pretty name but I don't feel it fits her.

I'm thinking about Tama, Chai, Spice or Spicy, Tosca, Selva, or Aki... But more suggestions for names would always help!

Her sad story is that the breeder who had her surrendered her to the shelter because they were done breeding her. Pisses me off. When they spayed her, she was in early pregnancy...would have been six kittens.

Then she went to a home for a few weeks, but the man who adopted her had a small child and decided to give her back to the shelter because she had chronic diarrhea.

She and Honey have several things in common. Both went through the shelter twice, both were used for breeding, both were around the same age when I adopted them. Kind of interesting.

Wow, she's gorgeous. I've heard horror stories about bengals, I guess since they were bred from wild cats. I'm glad to hear that yours is a sweetie.

Personally, I like Selva. Sounds exotic.

Thank you! And apparently, the first few generations after the cross between the wild cat and domestic can be a bit unpredictable, but once you get past that they tend to behave just like normal cats. She is extremely sweet, very friendly!

Her markings are gorgeous! And I love the name you picked for her, reminds me of the meerkat from Merrkat Manor (she was one of my favorites from the show)

Well she will always have the heart condition and will always have to be on medication but I am hoping the medication will help her be more active and improve her heart. She has been a little more active lately, but still way less than normal (and the medicine is affecting her appetite a bit which makes me worried).

I hope she starts feeling more like herself soon and gets some of her energy back. At least she's on the proper medication now, and perhaps gradually her appetite will return as well. You can give some human meds for upset stomach, actually, if you think that might help it's worth a try. I wish I could remember what the medication is, I used to give it to my kitty Princess when she was in kidney failure. Google it and I'm sure it'll come up!

Of course, I hope the best for my friends and their critters. I'll continue keeping Midnight in my thoughts.

She is, thank you! And yes, I absolutely couldn't resist... There were other people interested in adopting her and I just knew she had to come home with me pretty much as soon as I saw her. And my mom will be fine, she'll probably use it against me when she's mad at me, but so be it... Tosca is worth it!

Rodney has used the animals against me in fits of anger too, I guess it is the norm?! Deep down Rodney likes my "kids," why else would he share his lunch and dinner with them?! XD

She is, thank you! And yeah, it really really upsets me that someone would keep an animal to breed them and then surrender them to the shelter when they're "done." That is just...ughhhhh. She will be spoiled here, though!

Awww, retired breeders are great animals to rescue! It's a shame there are people who only want animals for their reproductive abilities.

Thank you, she is incredible! So soft, too. ♥ She's super sweet, she just comes and flops down next to you purring if you sit anywhere near her.

She is fully grown, five years old! She's definitely small--maybe five pounds? And yes, I like her notch, too!
