Happy Easter, to those who celebrate it! I semi-do in a secular kind of way, when I feel like it. Which was not today. I read things on the internet instead.

I took in an adorable mallard duckling a few days ago that had been abandoned by his mother. He seemed to be eating and doing well, but I did notice some odd behavior yesterday. Last night he was bathing in his water, and then I tucked him into his towel by the heating pad so he wouldn't get cold from being wet. This morning I found him suddenly dead. :( Mother animals know best, this isn't the first time I've heard of a mother rejecting her young only for the baby to die soon after. Still, I had been optimistic about the duckling's chances so it's a bit disappointing. Well, at least he died somewhere warm and quiet.

I did get a happier Easter surprise, though! Last night I went to candle some eggs under my serama hen Aztec. Most were earlier in development, but to my surprise some of the eggs peeped when I picked them up! So I brought her and those three eggs in the garage so she could hatch them in peace. So now there are three adorable baby seramas! Haha, what perfect timing! I've always wanted to hatch some chicks on Easter, but Aztec did it for me.

I've been sort of restless today. I can't quite figure out what to do with myself. Oh well. Off to go do my daily Dreamworld visit. (And by that I mean Pokémon Dreamworld, not sleep.)

Do you end up with a lot of extra work after the Easter chickie craze dies down? I always remember hearing lots of news reports about families who get their kids chicks for Easter and then don't want them anymore when they get bigger. D=

But yay for new serama babbies!

I guess I will find out when I get to work tomorrow, ha! I'm hoping people would call us instead of the alternatives, but generally people who are naive enough to buy chicks for their kids, are ignorant enough to find unpleasant alternatives. :(

Yes, they are so cute! About the size of a cotton ball or a little bigger than a quarter, much smaller than a "normal" chick. :D

Yay~!

Yeah, it was too bad about the duckling, but...well, nothing I can do about it now. There was likely nothing I could do to begin with, it was likely some sort of internal issue. But the chicks are suuuper cute and healthy!

Have fun on Dream World! I got a Shinx on there last night! I keep hoping to add more to my dex by going on every day. I'm trying for a complete National Dex.

That poor duckling. :( So sad. At least it was cared for in its last moments.

Awww, awesome! I'm glad some seramas hatched today! :D

Have fun in your Pokemon Dreamworld. ^_^

Yeah, it seemed to be doing okay so I was a bit surprised! But it was acting just a tiny bit off the other day, and when the mom rejects them that's generally a bad sign, as they can tell when something is wrong. It likely had something wrong internally that I could do nothing about.

Yes, they're super adorable! ♥

I did, I got a Shinx yesterday~!

I wish you a Happy Easter too!! :D

I am sorry about the duckling, like you said mother animals know! At least he got to know some love for a little bit, even if it was brief! *hugs*

Congrats on the baby seramas!! On Easter of all days too...

Have fun in the Pokemon Dreamworld, I have yet to go! I do not have easy access to WiFi I'm afraid!! :\

Thank you! :D

Yes, it was too bad, as I was hoping the little duckling was going to pull through. But, well, when there's something wrong a lot of the times we can't do much about it. :( It could have just been born with some sort of internal problem. And yes, he died somewhere warm and comfortable at least.

Thanks, yes, the timing was great! They're so tiny and cute!

Aw, that's too bad! Maybe sometime you'll be able to go on. It's not that exciting, but it is fun.

Just make the animal comfortable is about all you can do! I know with most birds, they tend to hide any sign of illness until it is pretty much to late! I took in a Cedar Waxwing once, a customer to my Mom's pet store had found him just sitting in the middle of the road! I named him Keisinger, he would eat out of my hand and nothing really seemed wrong with him. By the third day, I found him on the bottom of the cage dead. I was heart broken...but at least he was comfortable and warm!

Pics are a must when you get the time...;)

I found a good hot spot here in town, right by Wendy's! That is how I was able to get my Liberty Pass!! I just need to find someone crazy enough to drive me there and just sit there while I explore the Dreamworld, LOL!! XD
