Okay, fellow NaNoWriMo-ers, would you care to answer the following questions, just out of curiosity and so we can track each other and discuss?

Here is my profile on the site: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/203819

Title of your novel:
Original or fanfiction?:

Summary, please (whatever length you want to expand this to is fine):

If you're thinking about joining the fun, I highly encourage you to just take the plunge and DO IT no matter what excuses you have! It's ridiculously fun and interesting, and if you do make the 50k at the end of the month, you'll be so proud of yourself and almost certainly be back next year. I will warn you, though, DO NOT let yourself get behind! I've seen so, so many people drop out of NaNo because they let themselves get behind. Just keep to your daily number of words or more and you'll do just fine. I generally round up to 2000 words a day minimum just so I have a little cushion if I need it. Doing the usual quota of words really doesn't take that long, for me it usually only takes about forty minutes on an average day and I don't consider myself a very fast writer at all.

Another tip: Participate on the forums, and attend local write-ins! These two things will help keep you motivated. Also, find a friend to word war with if you can--it really helps to have some friendly competition.

As always, every year, if it were any month BUT November I could do it... :(

Aww, darn! There is one they hold in June, though it's not as big, if you want to look into that. :)

Title of your novel: Hopefully one will come to me before I finish it.. 8D;
Original or fanfiction?: Original
Genre: Science Fiction
Summary: As a government releases a new war weapon to the public, a far more advance replacement has already been long in the works. WMDs and pseudo-AIs can only do so much which leads an agency to begin to tamper with genetic engineering to make humans live longer and be immune to certain diseases/poisons to produce high grade shock troops. Success comes at a price as not every outcome can be hypothesized.

And now I wish to know your answers to the same. 8D

I'm still working on it, actually! I'll post my answers soon, I'm actually just about to do some outlining and whatnot so hopefully that'll work out a few kinks and I'll better be able to summarize, etc. :D Added you, though! It'll be fun writing with you this month!

Next month is going to be AWESOME! :D I'm seriously looking forward to it so much since I've got great friends like you online who are doing it as well as a local write-in group I was able to hook up with. Can't wait to hear about your story!

It is! NaNoWriMo is so much fun, you're going to love it! Next thing you know it's going to be a yearly event for you. I can't imagine my years without it now!

I'm so glad you have a local write-in group, too--that along with online buddy support will make it easier for you to keep motivated. Your story sounds so interesting, I look forward to hearing about how your writing goes! :D

I JUST SIGNED UP! On a whim. It's my first year doing it, and I have a bunch of project deadlines right at the beginning of November so I'm not sure if I'll even be able to start on time with everyone else ... but I'll give it a go.

My profile is here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/688423

I'm not fully decided on what I'm writing yet but it'll definitely be original. :)

YESSS, this will be awesome! That's great that you signed up on a whim! Even if you have to start a few days late, you ought to be able to manage! :D You can just recalculate how much you need to write daily to make it by the end. Like I said, I do 2000 a day consistently and that's not bad at all.

Put lots of thought into your story between now and then! Some people can pull off a cold start from nothing, but I'm afraid I'm not one of those people. (IDK if you are?) Good luck, and I look forward to hearing about your experiences!

I have a book where I'm always jotting down little ideas that occur to me (usually when I have trouble falling asleep), but I'm leaning towards writing Finding Ghosts, which was an idea for a short-story comic I had at the beginning of the year. I've got some pages drafted for it and lots of notes all over the place. I think it might be interesting to turn into a short novel? Will be mulling over it over the next week.

Thanks for the advice! :D Looking forward to getting through November with you (or at least trying).

Ah, by drafted pages I mean comic panel thumbnails, not written pages (which would be against the rules?). ;)

I have a notebook like that! Or I did, I'm not completely sure where it went, but I intend to start one again, haha. :D It is fun to write down weird ideas you come up with and see if you can put them together in any way, or branch anything off of it, etc.

I remember a piece of art you did for Finding Ghosts! Sounds like a good thing to go for, especially because you already have notes and ideas of how it's supposed to go. 50k really is fairly short, too, when it comes down to it, so it's good for the idea not too be too lengthy. (Then again, I tend to expound on things to ridiculous degrees, so I have yet to get to the climaxes of any of my stories within the 50k. XD)

Yep, written pages is against the rules, but then again the rules don't really count for anything in NaNoWriMo, seeing as it's all just for the fun of it/no one will stop you if you do break the rules. ;)

ohhhh gosh.....I really want to do it, but I'm about to start a new job that will be about 60 hours a week, and i'm still in grad school :\ At least I have an idea this year though :D

Awww, yeah, it sounds like you have your hands full. You could try, though, if you feel up to it... On average do you have forty minutes or could you make forty minutes a day to sit and obsessively type? If so, it's doable. If not, then perhaps next year!

Hoorah! I will be interested in seeing what you come up with to write about! :D

And don't be intimidated--it is totally doable! Really. And fun, too! Go perusing the forums, there's an "Adoption Center" on there that you can gank characters, stories, titles, and all kinds of other crazy things from, or of course you can just use it to help inspire you.

Added you!

I haven't updated my info in the site yet, buuut...

Username on the site: Glacidea
Title of your novel: Reverse Rain
Original or fanfiction?: Original
Genre: Horror/Psychological
Summary, please (whatever length you want to expand this to is fine):

Hmmm, basicly it's very psychological and it's about a girl coming to terms with her actions and what led her to commit them. She finds herself in her campus and it's completly empty...excpt the monsters and bits of her history.

The summary is hard to write without spoiling everything XD basicly a psychological trip into the mind.

Oooh, interesting! It reminds me of my story two years ago, which involved a character going through a really bizarre museum where she faced different aspects of her past in the form of metaphors. (Unfortunately I spent my entire 50k setting it up and only just reached the museum at the end of the 50k, hahaha!) I love mindtrip stuff like that, let me know how it goes! And don't spend your whole time setting up, it's boring. XD

I can't find you on the site, though! Link me to your profile so I can add you, please? :D

Title of your novel: Uh... considering it's still just a bizarre dream-idea, there isn't one yet.
Original or fanfiction?: Original
Genre: Mostly fantasy with Sci-fi elements
Summary, please (whatever length you want to expand this to is fine): Um... colonists on a new world dealing with the lizardmen natives? It's still pretty unfleshed out, but the the main conflict is there and there's already frame-work for romantic interest, so we'll just have to see where this goes.

... This is of course assuming I actually have time between my 21 hours of class time +1 painting project a week +1 drawing project every two (+ any in class work to be finished outside of class)... At least the incredible time sink of WoW: Cataclysm doesn't come out until December. >.>

Yep, I still have you added!

And ooh, sounds intriguing! I love dream-inspired stories, they're so wonderfully strange. This year's first scene started out as a dream and the year before last was a dream-inspired one for me, too.

I hope you find time to squeeze it in despite your classes and whatnot!
